Oil change for my truck, which is just about to reach 100,000 Miles.  Considering the fact that Deseri's long overdue for one, I think she deserves it. :)

would that work in my 62? ???
and if so, can I get it (and the max wedge that goes under it)? O:-)

It would work if you had one of these crazy cross rams.  I don't know why he wants to run this - it's crazy expensive to put it together.  The plugs (6 of them) for the intake bolt access holes are $115.  They are $330 if you get them from Chrysler.   :o

The joke is that the plugs are the rear end inspection plugs off a 7 1/4 rear end

A Cobra 24 CB after my Galaxy 949 crapped out.  Turns out you can't just *return or exchange* a Galaxy, you have to ship it to their repair facility to get it fixed.   >:(  That means I'm out the radio until it makes the round trip.

Black Friday goodness:

Kohls: my wedding band, pair of pants, picture frame - 160 dollars, saved more than 500USD
PetSmart: Dog cage, leash for possibly second dog and a sweater for current dog (No hair on his stomach, and this is a drafty house, so prudence, etc)
Northland Proshop: Warrior Swagger goalie pants to replace the NHL spec KOHO's I've been wearing. (There's a failed plate in the left thigh area, and I can't get a new plate, being that the thing was custom made for Pascal LeClaire)  RBK 8K Goalie stick, 27" paddle, Price curve (My Bauer One80 is looking a little risky, so I just wanted something on standby in case it breaks)

I found that getting a hotel room near the convention was typically worth more than saving some money but risking getting stuck several miles from the convention center.  The last time I went, I believe I'd reserved my hotel and plane tickets by the end of December.

Does anyone bother going through the GC Housing website to find a room?  I tried it years ago ('85-'91!!), and found I could get a room cheaper - at the SAME hotels the Con was using - by contacting them directly.  :P  So basically, using the Con site for the "Special GC Room Rate" meant paying more for the room.  Gee, how Helpful.  ::)

NOT!  :P   ;D

I think I tried giving them another shot back in 2011, when I went for my first GC since '91, and the results were the same.  I didn't even bother last year or this year, as I didn't see any point in it.  Yes, I'm staying a few miles away rather than a few blocks, but the room is considerably cheaper also.  I also take a cab back and forth and leave my car at the hotel all weekend, and consider it to be money Well Spent.  I don't like driving in big cities, plus there's also the hassle of finding a parking spot, which you then have to pay for.  No thanks.  The cab drivers get me there Just Fine.  O0

On Topic, I bought groceries last night, including Bacon Jerky!!   [drool]

Post by: MoneyLovinOgre4Hire on 05 January 2013, 22:16:32
That's why I got a room a few blocks away- I didn't have to bother with driving or getting a cab, I just took the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and walked to the convention center.  I thought it worked out great- heck, I could even go back to my room between games.

Given that it's a print-on-demand book that's done on campus and the school knew how many people were enrolled in the class, I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that they were sold out before half the class could get one.

Either they didn't order enough(people make mistakes, after all), or somebody's looking to gouge the class in a way the bookstore couldn't.  Just my 2 cents, and I could be wrong.

I'm not sure why I didn't post it earlier, but I also bought my dad's property Monday.  It's 92 acres (70 of it wooded), with the large house he lives in, the small one I live in, plus his large workship and a few other small buildings.  That's not counting his 3 deer stands either.   ;D   I are now a Property Owner!  Which means I'm the one that gets to pay all the taxes on it at the end of the year. Ahh, like 25 or so, from all over the place.  Mostly secondhand stuff that's been archived but quite a bit new from IWM as well. Finally saved up some enough to do some splurging.  For awhile I had everything built but about 15 or so NIB Clan mechs.  That's been rectified :)

A Weber Performance Platinum grill.  My gas grill would have cost more to repair than buying new.  I missed live fire, so I went with the charcoal, with a propane jet for faster ignition. And my wife and daughter bought me a grill gazebo as an early Father's Day gift, so I grilled all weekend in pouring rain.  Which I would do anyway, but this way I was dry...

Nice.  Actually, the events I played in there were where I got my first taste of running vehicles... by surprising a Zeus with my Mantaffel' Prime's 5/8 movement and giving him a full six rounds from my RAC straight into his Center Torso Rear.  Good times.

Anyway, to keep things on topic (in the Mechwarrior Hall?  That's crazy talk) I just bought a Philly Cheese Steak for dinner.  Not an authentic one, but it's not exactly easy to find authentic Cheese Steaks this far from Philly anyway, and it was still pretty good.

Makes me wonder 2 things about the store though.
A. Before their "Going Out of Business" sale, how much more inventory did they not have out on the floor?
B. If they would have had said inventory available for sale, would they have stayed in business?  ???

AWESOME Score!   O0

Makes me wonder 2 things about the store though.
A. Before their "Going Out of Business" sale, how much more inventory did they not have out on the floor?
B. If they would have had said inventory available for sale, would they have stayed in business?  ???

They must have had a mad bonehead doing the ordering and stocking the product.

They had two dropships and a ton of Battletroops that were never on the floor.  I think I ended up with 9 Shootist minis.  WTH?

Could be worse, he could be a goalie.... My next investment is a new set of pillows and a lid which will run me two grand easily (When you've been an EBUG for a semi-pro team and one of their practice keepers, good kit helps)

Got tickets to see Alton Brown when he comes to town next week (early Christmas present for both myself and a high school buddy from our wives) and tickets to the 3D simulcast of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special for my littl' Whovian's 10th birthday.

The Alton Brown guys night out may also include a cheeseburger served between a pair of Krispy Kreme donuts. I haven't decided if I want to commit to that level of indigestion.  :D

Picked up my Prestige Edition copy of COD: Ghosts from Best Buy today, along with the strategy guide.

I then went to Target, Just to look around, and wound up buying four Christmas CDs.  Between the 4 of them, I've got 3 versions of White Christmas (Bing Crosby, Andy Williams and Lena Horne), 2 of Silver Bells (Johnny Mathis with Percy Faith and his Orchestra and Doris Day), 2 of Sleigh Ride (Bing and Ella Fitzgerald), 2 of Winter Wonderland (Bing and Dean Martin), 2 of The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) (Mel Torme and Doris Day), and 2 of I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm (Dean Martin and Bille Holiday).  So yeah, the Youngest of any of the singers is still a Senior Citizen.  ;D   Now I won't have to wait until Thanksgiving each year to hear them!  :D

Christmas CD Titles (In case anyone cares):
Winter Wonderland: A Traditional Christmas - Volume 1
Silver bells: A Traditional Christmas - Volume 2
Romantic Christmas
A Crooner Christmas: Baby It's Cold Outside

 :D

I got a new 39" Envision TV last Friday, because my old 26" was going out on me.  I can now read the messages when I'm playing video games!  I can also see the "mini map" at the top of the screen when playing COD:Ghosts now also! I also got the CD "Bad Meets Evil: Hell the Sequel", with Eminem and some other guy.  Mr. Porter?  I'd never heard of him before, but I like Eminem.  ;D

As for the Christmas songs, none of them are the more "Common" versions you hear on the radio these days, covered by whomever the newest pop group is.  #P  As I said, these are by Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Wayne Newton, Andy Williams, Perry Como, Eartha Kitt (Santa Baby, of course!), Mel Torme, Nat "King" Cole, Frank Sinatra, and several others from the 50's/60's.  You know.  The GOOD versions of the Christmas songs.  O0

Although I have to admit, when I hear Wayne Newton I'd swear it's a woman singing.  :-[  :o   The songs were OBVIOUSLY recorded early in his career!  :o

I've encountered a problem when I ripped them to my HD though.  I can't find the correct "Media Data" for ANY of the 4 CDs.  :P  I had to "Edit" the info for nearly every track for 2 of them, 2 have no "album cover" picture, and the other 2 have the wrong pictures.  ::)

I actually got my hands on an XBox One: Day One Edition at the local Best Buy today!  I got my days mixed-up when it was released, and was going to be there at midnight on Friday night (the 22nd), but it was released at midnight Thursday night (the 21st).   #P  Fortunately, I stopped in earlier Friday evening, and when I asked an employee how crazy they thought it would be at midnight, they said "Oh, that was last night".  Doh!  :o  Another employee said if they got any in during the week they'd have to hold them to sell on Sunday, because of their Sunday Ads.  I figured that Sunday (the 24th) was out, so I thought I'd try my luck this morning, and they had 4 of them.  There were 4 guys in front of me, waiting for the doors to open, but they were wanting the PS4, and when a clerk came out and asked if anyone was waiting on anything in particular, he told them they (Best Buy) didn't have any PS4's, so they left, to head to the local Target.  Now I get to wait until I see my buddy Widow Maker down in Memphis in order to update the stinking thing, before I can play anything on it.  :P  Yay.

I also got the new paperback SW book, Scoundrels, 2 new SW comics, and the newest issue of Jonah Hex.  O0   I can't help but wonder, after reading SW: Dawn of the Jedi: Force War, Rancor's aren't bad enough, they had to make Flying Rancors?   :o  Rancor Dragons?  Holy Hell!   ;D  Luke had it EASY!

A large BT Box Set collection, including a COMPLETE BD Box set.  8)  FINALLY!   Sure, the minis are assembled and the counters have been glued to comic board, but at least the sucker's complete!   O0  I got a LOT of other things with the Lot that I didn't need, but I was tired of waiting for a Complete BD Box Set.   #P

I also got Red 2 and the Collector's edition of The Wolverine, both on Blu-Ray. I also got XCOM: Enemy Within (Commander Edition) for the 360, a 5 CD collection of Jimmy Buffet albums, a 5 CD collection of Styx albums, a CD from Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Dreams of Fireflies (On a Christmas Night), then the CD Trace Adkins: The Kings Gift (Celtic Christmas Collection).  I wasn't sure at first of the last one, because I've NEVER heard of him singing anything Celtic, or having any sort of Celtic connection, but one of the songs (I Saw Three Ships) has The Chieftains on it, so I couldn't pass it up.   O0   He also does Silent Night with Kevin and Lily Costner, so that should be interesting.

Steam huh?  Aw, I'm Sorry.  :(

 ;D

As a dialup user, I've got NOTHING nice to say about Steam.  :-X   I'd heard about the Enhanced versions of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and thought of getting them, but after hearing they were "Steam only" . . .  :P

I recently got my all-metal Millennium Falcon bottle opener from Think Geek!  O0   Sort of a "Merry Christmas to me, from me" thing I guess.   ;D  I'm a little bummed that the upper quad turret is barely recognizable as such, but aside from that, it's got some nice detail to it.  It's only the upper half of the Falcon, and there's 2 small magnets on the bottom.  They're not strong enough to hold it to my PC case though, so I Hope they'll hold it to my fridge.  Then again, I've got a bobblehead Boba Fett "Monitor Topper" sitting on top of my PC (my monitor is too thin for him to stay up there), so maybe Han and Chewie were too nervous to hang around with Boba looking down on them?   :D

I can understand your frustration.  For a good long while even the supposed "broadband" connection we have here wasn't good enough to let me get along with Steam very well either.  The connection has since improved and I've largely forgiven Steam simply because it means I don't have to find the damn CDs, don't have to fight with my barely functional DVD drive, and it is not the most obnoxious form of DRM I've come across.

So my net loot has come to the total of Dawn of War Dark Crusade, Dawn of War Soulstorm, Dawn of War II Retribution, Europa Universalis III, and FTL.

What can I say there are things about both Dawn of War entries that I like that are not present in the other and I got fed up with not being able to find my Dark Crusade CD and never got to try Soulstorm either so why not since I had $50 I could only spend on Steam anyway and I already have most of the games I care about anyway.  Sales tax did mean I had to chip in an extra $2.22 but considering everything I nabbed that ain't bad.

Even if said radio can be used for packet.  Sides, I've got an old router I want to test, and if it really is kaput, no biggie, just buy a new one and slap the proper cables onto it.  Of course, I doubt I'll ever get to utilize the full 9600 baud, since everybody in this neck of the woods is using 1200,  #P  but it doesn't hurt to have that capability.  BTW, full disclosure, I'm a n00b when it comes to packet.

Just got my copy of "The Sword and the Dagger".  Paid only $19.95 US for it.  Description said "good" condition however I would put it at "very good".  My collection is finally complete.

considering she supports me in this addiction (she bought me over $300 worth of mechs), and she plays video games, like Doctor Who/Star Trek/Star Wars, and has the same sense of humor I do...the least I can do is marry the woman  ;D

Congratulations.  From someone who is celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary at the end of the month, grab the special ones and never let go.

Two Alinco battery packs.  One for a DJ-280, the other for a DJ-582.  After looking at the tracking info, I was almost ready to start cursing out the Post Office, but they finally arrived. :)

(Though I'm wondering what in the name of Jerome Blake where they doing getting shipped to the Bartlett Post Office when they normally get shipped to the Granger Post Office.  Oh well, they got to my house, somebody must've made the drop somewhere. :) )
