Reacquired the old family seal after my great great grandfather gave it away to a french chick in the 1890's. That was fun to hunt down, only took the better part of a decade. ::)

A few books for the second-hand Kindle I just got.

BTW, is there a way to transfer PDFs from my computer to a Kindle?  It'd be a lot more convenient to have one Kindle at the gaming table than all my books.

I thought about that too. But I was going to wait a couple of months to see if any of the sales would start in.

I found that getting a hotel room near the convention was typically worth more than saving some money but risking getting stuck several miles from the convention center.  The last time I went, I believe I'd reserved my hotel and plane tickets by the end of December.

Does anyone bother going through the GC Housing website to find a room?  I tried it years ago ('85-'91!!), and found I could get a room cheaper - at the SAME hotels the Con was using - by contacting them directly.  :P  So basically, using the Con site for the "Special GC Room Rate" meant paying more for the room.  Gee, how Helpful.  ::)

NOT!  :P   ;D

I think I tried giving them another shot back in 2011, when I went for my first GC since '91, and the results were the same.  I didn't even bother last year or this year, as I didn't see any point in it.  Yes, I'm staying a few miles away rather than a few blocks, but the room is considerably cheaper also.  I also take a cab back and forth and leave my car at the hotel all weekend, and consider it to be money Well Spent.  I don't like driving in big cities, plus there's also the hassle of finding a parking spot, which you then have to pay for.  No thanks.  The cab drivers get me there Just Fine.  O0

On Topic, I bought groceries last night, including Bacon Jerky!!   [drool]

That's why I got a room a few blocks away- I didn't have to bother with driving or getting a cab, I just took the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and walked to the convention center.  I thought it worked out great- heck, I could even go back to my room between games.

The lab manual for my physics class.

Given that it's a print-on-demand book that's done on campus and the school knew how many people were enrolled in the class, I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that they were sold out before half the class could get one.
