I get the feeling that WoB ROM will probably Tip there hand here and get their teeth kicked in and there position badly hurt as MIIO, DMI and LIC start playing a game of whack-a-mole with RPG's.

          Mackolla

Harry and the Galax convoy arrived back at Mackolla today. All the dropships detached and began the burn to the planet below. The Q-Ship had jumped into the designated jump zone of the La Grange point. Harry placed Field Marshall Steiner aboard a shuttle and they began the flight to Shipyard One. On the flight, Harry could not help but smile at the open mouthed expression on the Field Marshall's face as she looked at the large fleet of assembled dropships, warships just hanging in the distance. It took 4 hours to reach Shipyard One.

As the still stunned speechless Field Marshall walked aboard Shipyard One slowly following Harry to the Boss' office, he could not help but wonder if he should call for a medic to have a sedative ready. Reaching the Boss' office, Harry knocked on the door and entered without waiting for a reply, leading the Field Marshall inside.

"Great to have you back Harry. Almost a year." The Boss greeted them

"Good to be home Boss. This is Field Marshall Steiner from the Department of the Quartermaster. She wanted to see our operation in person." Harry said as introduction

Field Marshall Steiner was starring at the stations plot board, on it was listed every ship in the Mackolla system. The system was packed with ships and dropships. Then she studied the Boss' 3054 production schedule and the 3055 projected schedule. After a few minutes standing there studying the boards silently she finally turned to the 2 men in the room "Harry, I must say, I am extremely impressed with what I have seen of your operation. I apologize for the harsh treatment I have shown you."

"It's okay Field Marshall, I am used to it. It is hard to believe until you see it for yourself." Harry said, he too had studied the plot board and noticed a few ships missing "Boss, we seem to be missing a few ships."

"Yeah, the Mitchell left last month escorted by the MDF Stuart back out to salvage another Lola III and probably a Star Lord. Scott has another 3 ships at some planet, been there a long time now. You will have to get the exact information from him." The Boss explained

"Okay, care to brief the Field Marshall on where we are as to completing the 1st year promise on that order." Harry said

"Well Field Marshall Steiner, we have 3 Buford Corvettes, 4 Patrol Covettes, 40 Gremlins and 24 Pentagon Dropships completed and ready to turn over. The Saratoga Carrier will be ready January 3055 and the Carrack will be completed November 3054. We actually had the entire 1st year promise completed but Scott took control of the Saratoga and Carrack when they left the yards. I plan on having the entire Gremlin order of 120 dropships completed no later than February 3055.  Barring any issues that might crop up." The Boss explained

"80% of the ships promised in the first year delivery are already completed and ready for turnover?" She asked slack jawed

"Yes maam, and I hope we start clearing them out quick as they are cluttering up my yard, I need the space." The Boss replied with a smile

"Holy shit Harry, I mean, I never expected this. Galax and Alarion have nothing on this operation. As far as I know, they have not even finished the 4 Fox Covettes yet. Bowie has been working on the Hercules Dropship for 2 years and only just delivered the first 18 dropships. Not only have you produced 3 times the dropships, but a damned fleet of warships to go with them." She exclaimed

"Both Federated Boeing and Ioto Galactic were offered the designs to these shipyards and factories, they refused quite harshly too." Harry said "They did not like the terms offered to them."

"They are both complete idiots. Heck, even a 50% cut of the profit would be well worth it. This is almost a hundred billion already built and ready to deliver in less than a year. Mind if I ask what the profit is on a Gremlin Dropship?" She asked

The Boss answered this one "About 180 million. We don't have to import a single thing for it. We only have to pay for the raw ore the miners dig up and since we use everything here that they mine, well we buy every ton produced by them. Buford corvette is about 1.4 billion profit." He saw both her and Harry arch a brow "Hey, I asked, I was curious too. The bean counters down on the planet crunched the numbers. Of course Challenge gets a 20% cut of the profits. And I get a bonus dependent on profitability of my assigned operation." The Boss said with an even bigger smile. "We just completed our 4th shipyard capable of building up to 500k ton ships. I don't have the people to put it into operation with the Mitchell gone. Plus I doubt the plants down on the surface can handle the load it would put on them. We already outran our steel production twice and had to pause construction to get that caught up, set us back about 2 weeks total."

"So Field Marshall Steiner, how about we go take a tour of the planets surface industry we have developed." Harry said.

  23 October 3054

Harry, Scott, George and Field Marshall Steiner were in Harry's office on the planets surface. Scott had just briefed Harry on everything that happened since he had been gone. The ships carrying the AFFC recruits should arrive any day now, the diplomats were on their way to Bamburgh, but Scott had already gotten word that Bamburgh had voted to join the Federated Suns. He had already sent word to New Avalon of the situation but had not heard back yet. It would be another 2 months for the Panpour convoy to arrive.

Field Marshall Steiner had spent all of the 22nd being led on a tour of the planet's industry. She was briefed by Cathy Mayweather and every plant manager. The Field Marshall had taken serious note of some of the less than state of the art equipment being used by the Mackolla Defense Force. She made a mental note to look into that when she got back to New Avalon. This operation was of vital importance to the Federated Commonwealth, and they were technically the planets militia. If you counted the warships, the most powerful militia ever seen.

She sat in and listened and made mental notes on every shortage this planet was having. She listened as the subject of Bamburgh was briefed in more detail. Over 80 million people and 28 Infantry regiments in dire need of up to date equipment. Once the meeting broke up, she turned to Harry "Harry, I need to use your black box immediately if I may."

Harry led the Field Marshall to Peter's communication center and returned to his office, leaving her to prepare whatever message she was sending out.

Field Marshall Steiner was sending several faxes to New Avalon. The first read:

 To: Archon Melissa Steiner
From: Field Marshall Steiner, Department of the Quartermaster

Very impressed with operation. Never another objection granting contracts to this contractor. They are everything they promised and then some. My apologies your highness.

 The second message:

 To: Department of the Quartermaster
 From: Field Marshall Steiner

Need command circuit put in place as soon as possible New Avalon to Crofton. Arrange for long deployment. Star Lords only. Need full TOE loads for 36 Infantry Regiments as soon as possible, uniforms, weapons, ammunition, boots, the works. Notify this station when ships arrive at Crofton for transfer.

Field Marshall Steiner left the communication room when both messages went out. She prided herself in making sure EVERY unit in the AFFC had the best equipment they could provide. She was shocked to have learned that the entire Mackolla Defense Force salaries were being paid for by Mitchell Aerospace and Shipyards. We will see about changing that when I get back to New Avalon.

         Bamburgh

Not a single Battlemech had reported in. Aerial recon showed every mech counted in Olami territory near the furthest town in Olami territory from Colonel Daly's men. Recon over Stalker territory showed all their mechs in and around Duchess Sterode's capitol city. It looked like neither of them were going to accept the vote willingly. But he had word the requested diplomats and negotiators were only 2 days away from arriving in system.

Colonel Daly had ordered his Mech units to reform. He had an entire Battalion of Infantry processing and training the troops that reported to the Valley. He estimated he was missing 6 regiments of former Olami infantry and 10 regiments of former Stalker infantry. He really did not want a damn civil war to occur. 10 of the former Stalker infantry regiments were actually REAL horse cavalry. And those former Stalker regiments were oversized by modern standards. 4 platoons of 30 to the company and 4 companies to the battalion and 4 battalions to the regiment. Almost 2000 troopers to the regiment. Hell, he had over 30,000 horses in 10 separate herds outside the valley itself. What the hell am I going to do with actual HORSE cavalry Colonel Daly thought to himself.

The former Holdfast infantry were the best equipped weapon wise, they were all armed with automatic weapons. The former Olami were mainly armed with bolt action rifles with a smattering of automatic weapons. The former Stalkers were 90% armed with bolt action rifles for the foot infantry and the damn Cavalry were mainly armed with automatic pistols and friggin swords and lances of all things. Neither of the former Olami or Stalker troops were happy about turning in their weapons. But for security, it had to be done. Besides, they needed to be rearmed. Right after the vote was "certified" the newly appointed Infantry Brigade Commander had escorted Colonel Daly into the cave systems and led him to a huge cavern, inside were enough automatic rifles to arm twice the number of troops he had, all still in their sealed packing crates. Plus millions of rounds of ammunition inside their vacuum sealed crates.

His scouts had also reported just over 25,000 former Holdfasts including all the disbanded infantry were making their way slowly to Duchess Sterode's capitol city.

         Bamburgh

Damien Crosby was the lead diplomat/negotiator for the Federated Commonwealth delegation sent to Bamburgh. Colonel Daly, acting military governor of Bamburgh was briefing the delegation on the current situation as he saw it. Damien Crosby was pleased the people wanted to join the Federated Suns half of the Federated Commonwealth, but feared the reaction they might have when they hear Federated Commonwealth.

"Technically Mr Crosby, the Federated Commonwealth does not yet exist until the Archon steps down and First Prince Victor Steiner Davion takes over both halves. So technically, they are joining the Federated Suns. I don't see the big deal." Colonel Daly argued

"Colonel, I agree that technically it does not yet exist, I am just voicing my concerns. But let us move on to the current problem. I see the vote numbers and the vast majority overwhelmingly voted to join the Federated Suns. We have roughly 3.5 million votes against joining the FS and 6 million who voted for seperate leaders and to stay factions. It appears those same 6 million are the ones hold up in their respective leaders so called capitols. Question is, are they going to make a fight of it." Damien Crosby said

"Guess you will have to go find out. I have not yet made any hostile moves against them, but I am not keen on mech forces outside my direct control being on the planet. But, we have nobles all over the Inner Sphere that have their own small forces. I can deal with it, but they have to swear the oath to the Federated Suns. That is your job." Colonel Daly said

"Well then, I guess we shall pay the Baron a visit first then. I would prefer to use normal vehicles so as not to inflame the situation by using armed vehicles but I gather civilian vehicles are in short supply here." Damien Crosby stated

"Yes they are, I will arrange an escort for you. It will be a good 3 day trip, so I hope your people are ready for some roughing it." Colonel Daly said with a sly smile, he did not care for diplomats all that much

"Do not worry about us Colonel, we will handle things just fine." Cosby said

 Mackolla

The 3 Dropships carrying the new personnel had arrived on the 25th October and were still 6 days from making their landings. Scott had received the communication about the Clan personnel and called Honos in for a consultation on the issue. He had given Honos the list of personnel in the fax and waited as he looked it over.

"Scott, there will be some issues in this. The Falcons will be very easy to assimilate. The Wolves, a little difficulty but not much. The Vipers will be a major pain. The warriors anyway, the techs and laborers will fall into line quickly." Honos said

"Okay, so we have some pain, do we accept the personnel or not?" Scott asked

"Well, I say accept them. The techs alone will be of great value to us. I will just shoot any that fail to conform to our way." Honos said with a serious look on his face, but he could not help but smile as he watched Scott about to explode "I am kidding, if they prove too much trouble as warriors, I will let them go dig with the miners."

"Okay, I will go send the message to send them our way." Scott said

"Good, I will get things ready for them. My techs want to upgrade some of the mechs. Especially the Talos's. We have a bunch of them, they want to swap the regular AC/10 for a LBX10, we can gain a ton for ammo. And the Emperor's leave much to be desired." Honos said "They say they can refit the Emperor 5A to the 6A but need to have XL engine and access to a fully equipped refit facility to do so."

"I will ask George about the LBX10 situation, if they are available, I have no issue doing so." Scott said "The Emperors, well I don't see us shipping them to a factory to do anything about them."

Honos nodded and left the office to head back to his unit's garrison location at the air base. Scott got up and went to send the fax to New Avalon. As he entered the communication room, he found Field Marshall Steiner writing up a fax to send.

"Field Marchall, how are you enjoying your visit." Scott asked

"It has been an eye opener, Colonel Mitchell. I am about to send a message to my department making sure all of your units are fully outfitted with standard AFFC kits. Is there any items you desperatly need?" She asked

"Well, we could use some way to maintain our mechs easier than the dropship bays. We make our own weapons and ammo, but we cannot easily upgrade weapons to our mechs and such. Swapping an engine is a major pain in a dropship bay. Plus any major plans would require us to send the mechs to a full bore factory, that is a long ways off." Scott replied

"I will see what I can do. This complex is of vital importance. And I agree, your way off the beaten path out here. Getting stuff in and out looks to be a major chore." She said

"That it is, it is something we have to work around for security reasons Field Marshall." Scott said

"Well you will be glad to here I am putting a command circuit in place to Crofton to facilitate the transfer of the dropships and supplies here. You will have to get the items needed to Crofton, we will handle it from there." She said

"Field Marshall, that is sweet music to my ears. Really lightens the load on us. I been trying to work out how to transfer that many dropships quick enough. It has been driving me insane." Scott said

Just then the Box recieved a fax. They both watched as the on duty MIIO agent reviewed the fax and handed it to Scott. It read:

 To: Colonel Scott Mitchell, MDF
From: Archon Melissa Steiner and First Prince Victor Steiner Davion

In recognition for outstanding duty, in keeping a vital installation secure, your tireless efforts in expanding and training your miltary forces to the utmost of your abilities. You are hereby appointed Military Governor of Bamburgh. Use of MDF personnel for garrison is authorized. Also, in recognition of the above stated, you are hereby promoted to Kommandant in the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth. Also your new rank in the MDF is now Leftenant General.

Personal note: Scott, the MDF has grown too big for a Colonel, we both have faith in you and your uncle. Develop Bamburgh as needed.

 Melissa and Victor

Scott could not believe what he had just read. He was re-reading it when the Field Marshall asked "Everything okay Colonel? Something important?" and all Scott could do was hand over the fax for her to read herself.

"Well, let me be the first to congratulate you on both your promotion and on your appointment." Field Marshall Steiner said

After the Field Marshall had sent her fax, Scott had to add to his fax:

To: Archon Melissa Steiner and First Prince Victor Steiner Davion
 From: Colonel Scott Mitchell, MDF

We will accept the personnel per previous message. Please notify this station on expected ETA for pickup arrangements.

 Personal Note:
Per the newest message, I do not know what to say, thank you and I hope I do not let either of you down. Your Highness'

 Scott

            Bamburgh

Damien Crosby exited the Turhan and looked at the decent sized city before him. 11 Mechs stood silently blocking the way to the city. He recognized 8 of them as Guillotine's, the other 4 he did not recognize, they looked like Warhammers but they were not Warhammers. He had served his tour of duty with the AFFS long ago, he was a tanker, not a MechWarrior. The heavy thumps of mechs on the move made him glance over his shoulder, at the full Mech Battalion Colonel Daly had insisted on escorting his delegation, began deploying across the large clearing on either side of him.

A sudden booming voice over a mechs loud speakers caused him to give a slight jump "This is Major Cunnard, I have brought Damien Crosby and his party for their meeting with Baron Crocney."

There was no response but Damien Crosby saw a very old car begin leaving the small city and heading this way. His small radio in his pocket spoke "Mr Crosby, that little car is what the Baron drives around in." It was Major Cunnard. Damien did not answer but nodded. He watched the small car swerve to avoid the feet of a mech and halt a short distance away. He watched the driver exit the car, medium build and balding.

Damien Crosby put on his diplomat face and walked to meet the man. "I am Damien Crosby, I lead this diplomatic delegation respresenting the Federated C..Suns in this matter. And you are?" Damien held out his hand in greeting.

"I am Baron Crocney, ruler of the Olami and rightful ruler of this planet. I must protest your mens actions against my planet." The man did not accept the out streteched hand

Damien Crosby let his hand drop to his side "So, do we talk out here or would you like to go somewhere else and discuss the issues Baron?"

"We will talk inside my capitol, follow me, but only the one vehicle. No more." The Baron said as he turned and stalked to his car.

Delightful man, Damien thought as he pulled out the small radio "We are going inside the city Major Cunnard, only our vehicle. Please await us here."

"I do not advise it Mr Crosby, I cannot guarantee your safety from out here." Major Cunnard responded

"Major, I have this radio, trust me, I will call for help if I need it." Damien said

"Your ass Mr Crosby, but you call and we will come get you." Major Cunnad responded

Damien Crosby got in the Turhan and followed the small car into the city. Major Cunnard sat in his Thug's cockpit and watched the Turhan disappear into the city. His Mech's warbook had identified all of the mechs he faced, 8 Guillotine 3N and 3 Hammerhand 4D. Well, if this goes hot, it is going to be a fun fight, but not for long.

As they drove thru the small but very crowded city, Damien looked around at the buildings. Most looked overly dark inside, no power he thought to himself. He had noted all the horses after they first landed, very primitive place but they got Mechs. The small car stopped at the largest building in town, the Turhan pulled up right behind it. Damien motioned for his delegation to exit the Turhan. He walked to meet up with the Baron who said "We will talk inside" and headed up the steps. Damien followed.

 Mackolla

Scott and Honos were on the tarmac watching the new personnel disembarking from the dropships. When the largest people Scott had ever seen began disembarking he saw Honos smile out of the corner of his eye "Elementals,  my prayers have been answered sooner than I thought." Scott watched as Honos advanced to meet the hulking people. Damn they are big and mean looking Scott thought to himself. He could but smile as he heard Honos begin shouting.

"Get into formation you Stravags. You are warriors not some civilians." Scott watched as the Elementals fell into a formation. "I am Major Honos of the Mackolla Defense Force. You people now belong to me. I was once Jade Falcon, now I serve Mackolla and the Federated Commonwealth. You now serve Mackolla and the Federated Commonwealth. You were all taken as isorla, as was I. They did not understand our ways, now they have a better understanding. You are no longer prisoners but once again warriors. Load up into the trucks over there and we will head for your new home. Now move it."

Scott watched as the huge Elementals quickly loaded into the trucks. A runner brought over the cargo dropships manifest. Scott smiled as he read the contents it was carrying. Scott saw another group of "prisoners" and pointed them out as Honos came back to Scott. "Your forgetting some people Honos, I just figured out what all that code was in the fax." he said as he handed Honos the manifest.

Honos looked down the list and spotted the words "Suits, Elemental qty 75" His smile got even bigger. "Please thank the Archon and First Prince the next time you see them for me. I will load up the techs and take them with me. The suits can follow as cargo, they will not need them for some time."

"Okay Honos, take your new people and get them settled in. I do hope you are teaching your people our ways and not building your own Clan over there at the airbase." Scott said

"No, not my own Clan, but maybe a little Clan Mackolla with a large dash of Clan Federated Commonwealth. The original batch of Falcons have settled in very well. It just takes some time for them to realize things are much different here. But it is easier on them here, the civilians here know nothing of the Clans. They are not as hostile as the ones in the Federated Commonwealth are." Honos said as he turned to board the trucks.

Gonna be a lot more Clanners running around here soon, hope these people are ready for it. Scott thought to himself.

He looked at the manifest again, what the hell were "Battle Armor, Standard qty 400" he thought to himself. Well, time to go find out. He started walking towards the Mule, as he did so, he saw one of the new people approaching him, he was dressed in AFFC fatigues and walked with the bearing of someone who had been in the military a long while. The man came to attention and saluted "Sir, Kommandant Charles Martinez of the 237th Battle Armor Battalion reporting for duty."

Scott returned the salute "Welcome aboard Kommandant Martinez, glad to see your unit here. But I must confess, I have been out here a long time and have not a clue what your men do."

"Sir, I was told you served on the Clan front? Well, we are our version of the Clan Elementals. I have a complete battalion fresh out of training with me 256 men and women. We do not have organic transportation though." Kommadant Martinez said

"Well then Kommadant Martinez, let's go over and take a look at your people and equipment." Scott said

Damien Crosby had spent the last week trying to make some headway with Baron Crocney. So far, he was at a loss. The Baron insisted he be given control of the entire planet. He would not budge from this sticking point at all. Word was relayed that a fax from New Avalon had arrived and been relayed thru Mackolla informing him of Scott Mitchell of the Mackolla Defense Force being assigned as the planet's military governor. He had never met the man, but Colonel Daly and Major Cunnard thought highly of him. He could not help but wonder about the comment Major Cunnard had made when he had asked his opinion of how the new governor might handle the Baron "Well, he better hope Colonel Mitchell does not declare them pirates, because it will not be pretty at all."

The distance to the Duchess' capitol was much further away, so it was decided that they would perform a suborbital insertion by dropship. Damien Crosby left his second to talk with the Baron, but he did not hold out much hope. He hoped that the Duchess would be more receptive to talking. He made his way to the Seeker that would carry him to meet the Duchess and act as their base during talks. A Mech company was already within sight of the Duchess' capitol awaiting his arrival.

 Gibson

Precentor Dummond had just left his briefing with Precentor Kernoff. He was to take his fleet of 2 Magellan and 3 Scout Jumpships to the Okefenokee area of the Federated Commonwealth and seek out this mysterious Mitchell Aerospace company. While in the area, they also were to check out a few known areas for derelict warships. It would take almost a year to arrive at Okefenokee. They were under cover as operating with Interstellar Expeditions. Each ship would carry a single dropship, they would each be carrying modified Unions that carried 2 Aerospace fighters, 2 small craft and a platoon of infantry. The rest was all cargo for the missions.

  Mackolla

Scott, Harry, 2 of Honos' new BA techs were aboard Shipyard One with the Boss. Kommandant Martinez had explained that there was no dropship he knew of to carry Battle Armor. They had to stow their suits as cargo and break them out on arrival, it really hampered combat operations. Harry had also said the AFFC was interested in them. All were aboard to try and help the Boss design a working effective transport. The former Clan techs helped the most explaining what the Sassanid was the Clans primary BA dropship and as basically a modified Intruder Dropship. The Boss had their captured Intruder brought up for a possible modification to work out any kinks before full construction was started.

First, the techs had to explain how to basically build a Battle Armor bay to support the Battle Armor like a Mech Bay. Second, they drew out a rough outline of how a Sassanid was laid out. The Sassanid carried 75 Elementals, the AFFC one would carry 64 Battle Armor. A small argument erupted between Scott and the Boss.

"Boss, the basic design is fine but why not just built it to carry 75 suits? I think it makes more sense, the AFFC is using 64 to a company, fine, but what about any that make their way to Mercs? They might decide to use a 72 man company setup. Using 6 man squads and 24 to a platoon. If we just take the 75 BA design and run with it, we are covered either way with a single design." Scott argued

"Because we are designing this to meet the AFFC needs, not Mercs. They use 64 man companies, so we build it for 64 men." The Boss countered

"Okay, let me put it to you like this, build it how you want, I plan to deploy Honos' people as a 75 man company, now you can stop your entire production run when I want one built or just build the damn things to 75 man setup and I just snag one that is completed and you can keep your production schedule intact basically." Scott said

"And what if the AFFC kicks back the design because we have extra capacity on it?" Boss said

"Then we rip 10 bays off the damn thing and ship it to them. Hell, build the damn Battle Armor bays to be plug and play style. Easy to install or remove to configure the damn thing to however many you decide to carry. Make the damn thing so anyone can remove or add bays to their hearts content." Scott said

"Hmmmm, now that last suggestion makes more sense. I will have to play some more with the basic design, but I do like the easy to add or remove the bays to customize the ship to some ones particular troop count. Can you leave me the 2 techs here to help me?" The Boss started to surrender

"Sure, they can stay and help with the design and stuff." Scott said

"Great, now both of you get out and let me get to work designing this damn thing." The Boss said, but he did it with a smile

Perhaps you mean Intruder-class dropships?

Those are what the Sassanids are based out of.

Depends if any of their ships survive long enough to jump out.

I always thought that having 3 or 4 light vechs in the large BA dropper would be a good idea.  they could be fire support or maybe BA recovery units.

            NC39441

MSS Mitchell and her escort MDF Stuart arrived in system at the Nadir Jump Point. As both ships sensors came back online, Gale watched as the small cluster of ships began showing on the ships plot board. One was missing. They had left 4 ships at this system, now there were 3. She had Stuart launch her fighters for a patrol of the area and then signaled Stuart to keep an out as she maneuvered the Mitchell close the derelicts.

It was not long before the report came in, both Lola III were here and the busted up Star Lord, that big damned jumpship was missing. Tug One was already closing on the Lola III they planned to salvage. She informed the Black Box agent to signal Mackolla that they could begin jumping the Lola III new jump core to them, but they need to make sure it was escorted properly.

It took the rest of the day to maneuver the Lola III into the awaiting arms of the Mitchell. Gale could see that the salvage crews had done quite a number on her when we stripped out everything salvageable. She is going to be in a yard for quite a while once we get her home. It would take 3 weeks to strip the core from the Lola III, and another 3-4 weeks to install the new core and make the needed repairs so she could jump her way back to Mackolla.

She looked at the plot board and everything was clear. One damn thing is for certain, we will make sure the last Lola III is well and truly destroyed before we leave here.

   Mackolla

Scott entered Harry's office, he moved to the huge star map of the surrounding area. Scott stopped and thumped a system 1 jump away. "Uncle Harry, what is in this system here?"

"Have to check my log, give me a second." Harry said as he pulled up the information on his notepad "We only went thru that system once about 15 years ago, 3 planets, none have any atmosphere on them. Basically big ass asteroids."

"Ever go further out?" Scott asked

"Nope, right after we tripped over that system we found Mackolla. Then we hit a bunch of empty systems. Why?" Harry responded

"Curious about what is out there. Hate to have a big damned pirate band on our door step and not know about it. I am thinking about taking the MDF Pierce (Carrack Transport) and base her at the lifeless system with a Aqueduct. I will then have 2 Patrol Corvettes jump to systems spoking out from the lifeless system and hit everything within 30LY of there." Scott explained

"Going to stretch us thin with a bunch of ships already deployed don't you think?" Harry asked

"Not horribly, we still have the AFFC Riga, Congress manned by the AFFC here, and they have a crew training on the Lola III now. Plus I don't plan to move them out soon, probably be Feb 3055 before I am comfortable doing so, the new crews are just now getting a look at what they are going to be driving. They need some time to get up to speed." Scott said

A knock at the door brought both of their heads around, it was Peter holding a fax. "Got a fax from New Avalon for you." He handed the fax to Scott.

 To: Leftenant General Mitchell (MDF)
 From: Quintus Allard

Per last message received, expect new arrivals at Crofton May 3055. Cannot be done faster. Also, per Field Marshall Steiner's last request dated same as your prior message, special cargo requested arrival May 3055. Boss had to get involved and kick some butt to make it happen. Coming from other side.

Personal Note: Congrats my boy, you earned it. Tell your Uncle I said hello.

Scott handed over the fax for Harry to read, when he looked up from the fax Scott asked "You order anything special Uncle Harry? Because I didn't."

"Nope, I have no clue what this special cargo is. Go ask the Field Marshall, I think she is down around the airfield with Honos' people." Harry said

"I will wait for her to get back. I want to go check on the new personnel and see how they are getting along. Plus, I need to go see George about a bunch of LBX10's. Honos' techs think they can easily modify the all the Talos' with them. Gonna need a bunch of them." Scott said as he got up from the chair to leave, Harry's voice caused him to pause.

"Scott, you sure about bringing all those Clan prisoners here? Going to be a bunch of them." Harry asked

"It will be oksy Uncle Harry, Honos says he can handle them. Plus, think of all those technicians we will be getting and all the skilled labor. We need all the skilled labor we can get." Scott said, but he saw some doubt in his Uncles eyes as he left.

  Panpour

The first 2 500k shipyards were completed today. Already, Tugs we positioning the new shipyards into position so their extended frames could be assembled. Estimates were another month before they could begin production. Amazing, the first Monolith jump core being built in the first core factory was almost 3/4 complete. Another month and it would be finished. The Challenge Systems CEO was having to adjust his planning some, he was glad Harry had sent along the plans for germanium processing factories, because from what he was seeing there was no way his older ones could keep up with the demand. He was even going to have to boost his orders for Germanium to keep them running at full capacity.

  Coventry

Coventry Metal Works CEO Simon Grantrel was pissed. First he received a high priority HPG message telling him to pack up 4 of his precious refit bays immediately, which he flat out refused to do. Then a blistering HPG message from the Archon Melissa Steiner had all but ordered him to do so or she would have the local garrison seize them from him. He now stood watching his people carefully dismantle the 4 refit bays and pack them for shipment. He had no clue where they were going or if he would ever see them again. He still had 36 refit bays, but even losing 4 was painful. He already had his people ordering the new parts to replace the 4 he was losing and he DAMN sure was sending the bill to the Archon herself.

They have to make some mistakes first and then refine the designs. I cannot uber design every ship right out the gate. Slammed into a problem with newest Meklab. Might have to design the new dropship in older version.

Probably be a few more before I get to the Jihad. Operation Guerrero will be vastly different than canon. AFFC, has some warships to play with. They might take the planets initially, but can the Mariks and CC hold them, that is the question.

          Bamburgh

It was Damien Crosby's 3rd meeting with Duchess Sterode. At least she was not being hard headed like Baron Crocney. Her resistance was mainly around no longer having control over 40+ million people who would act on her every whim. She had no resistance to being a part of the Federated Suns, nor did she have any issue with answering to someone else as ruler of the planet, as long as it was not President Ofay or Baron Crocney. He thought he could work with this one.

"Duchess Sterode, your faction the Stalkers, I am told they are called, no longer exists. The people voted to become one people of Bamburgh. I can probably sway the military governor to allow your city here and some territory as your state with you as the leader of that state. But, that will be his decision to make. It would have to be open to any and all to come and go as they please and conform to Federation law. I can almost promise you he will not allow a large private military. But a household guard, that he may allow." Damien said

"This military governor, why have we not met him? It is hard to make any kind of decision without actually meeting the person I am supposed to be commanded by." The Duchess asked

"I know he is extremely busy, but I can forward a request for him to come here to meet you." Damien said

"I would much prefer that Mr Crosby. I cannot in good faith make a promise that could harm my loyal people in the long term." The Duchess said

"I will gladly forward the request for Leftenant General Mitchell to come to Bamburgh to discuss things with you." Damien said, "I cannot promise anything, he is extremely busy."

"Your willingness to make the request shows you are sincere in wanting to resolve any issues we might have sir." The Duchess responded

"Then I shall head back now to make the request, I should have an answer in several days. Thank you for meeting with me Duchess." Damien said

  Mackolla

Scott got the fax from Bamburgh late in the evening. Well, I been meaning to make a trip over there anyway. Plus, I need to make some arrangements on a garrison force for the place. Might as well take Clayton along and have him conduct a survey of the planet for resources we can use.

Scott called Honos and scheduled a meeting for 9am the next day in his office. Next he called CSM O'Malley, he was to be there also. The last call was to Clayton.

 17 September 3054
             Mackolla

It was 9am and everyone was gathered in Scott's office. Scott started off by picking on CSM O'Malley "Sar Major, you sure you won't let me promote you?"

"Sir, hell no. Us noncoms run everything. Besides, no one tells a Command Sergeant Major what to do. ONLY one person gets to do that and that is the CSM immediate superior." CSM O'Malley said

Scott smiled "Okay then, you are now the CSM for the entire Mackolla Defense Force. Your also in charge of all training of new personnel."

"I am the only CSM in the Mackolla Defense Force, this just makes it official then." CSM O'Malley said "Now, what is this meeting all about sir."

"We are all making a trip to Bamburgh, Clayton, gather your people and be ready to leave in 3 days. CSM O'Malley, gather 2 Plt's of armor, my Alacorn included in the total. Your going also. Honos, I know those Elementals just got here, but I want all your people to go to, all except the 2 techs assisting at the shipyards. We will find out exactly how they perform really fast. We are taking Tug Three and Tug Four with us. We will just have to pack their suits as cargo for now. Let's go see this new world we have to take care of.

Sar Major, I want an Engineer Battalion loaded onto Tug Four, bring 8 of the construction mechs, 4 dozers and 4 dump trucks. We might need them. I also want 20 cargo truck loaded as cargo."

As everyone nodded their okay's Scott dismissed the meeting for everyone to get their people ready.

           Bamburgh

Tug Three and Tug Four slowly settled onto the ground of the Valley. Tug Three dropped it's ramp and Scott, in his Alacorn led the small unit off the dropship and onto Bamburgh for the first time. He spotted the small welcoming party of Colonel Daly, Major Cunnard and directed his driver to head over to meet them. Pulling to a stop, he dismounted the Alacorn and moved to greet his commanders.

"Colonel Daly, Major Cunnard, great to see you both again. Great work on bringing this planet into the fold." Scott said as he shook both of their hands. "What is our status now?"

"Sir, congratulations on your promotion. As to our status, well call it 90% secure. The vast majority of the people are friendly, hard working types who are tickled pink to be citizens of the Federated Suns. We have 2 hold outs though, Baron Crocney and his group and then the Duchess Sterode with her larger group. Both are held up in the "capitols". The FS lead negotiator thinks Duchess Sterode can be worked with peacefully, but Baron Crocney is going to be a pain. Besides the troops I originally brought, I have 8 regiments of infantry fully ready and deployable, 3 regiments of actual Horse cavalry deployable. Another 8 regiments of infantry are still in training and 3 more cavalry." Colonel Daly said

Scott shook his head slightly "Horse cavalry? I knew this planet was lacking in modern stuff but actual horse cavalry. Damn."

"Yes sir, I said the same damn thing myself. But I have to say this, they are faster than regular leg infantry and I don't have any equipment to transport them anyway. This valley is surrounded by these mountains, it is just over 200km long and 50km wide. The city here in the valley has electrical power from the river that runs under these mountains. The river powers generators. Currently there are 6.3 million people in the Valley. We also located an old Star League facility at the back of the Valley. Inside we found 300 suits inside the facility. Never seen them before. Almost like those Elementals I see we disembarking the Tug over there, but no where near as armored. I let my techs play with one and a volunteer has gotten pretty good at using that one suit. Currently the only entrance is outside the valley itself.

The facility itself can house roughly 1100 personnel. It has full barracks, mess, arms rooms, storage. It had a reactor plant, but a cave in shut it down long ago. We have not been able to access the computers in the facility for lack of power. The election sort of derailed efforts there. We have not explored the entire thing yet. It's a huge facility." Colonel Daly explained

"I will definately want to check that out Colonel Daly while I am here. I brought Clayton and his people to do a survey of the planet. You already spotted our newest people, so I have Honos here with his folks also. I brought an engineer battalion with me." Scott said

"Well, we can sure use some engineer support. This planet has over 80 million people but very little in the way of roads and infrastructure. There are some small factories south of here outside the mountains along the river. Not many but a few. Aerial recon has spotted a few obvious abandoned mining locations far from here. But the only fresh water, except for rainfall, is along the river pumped from deep underground. This is the largest of 3 continents. All the people are concentrated on this continent. You have roughly 24 million sq km on this continent. You have another roughly 10 million sq km continent that is desert and mountains, not a drop of water to be found from the air. And you have a polar continent with roughly 8 million sq km. There are islands scattered thoughout the big oceans.

There are huge damned herds that roam this continent. Weigh damn near 4500lbs and they will take on a light mech if provoked. One charged my Dart and knocked it for a loop. You have to tread carefully around them big suckers." Colonel Daly said

"So, tell me about these 2 groups being stubborn." Scott said

"The first is Baron Crocney, has about 2 companies of mechs and maybe 2 regiments of infantry. Maybe 2 million followers. Stuck up, pretentious ****** if you ask me. Feels the planet was stolen from him and he is the rightful ruler of it. He's holed up in his capitol sulking. The other is Duchess Sterode, she has almost a battalion of mechs and roughly 6 regiments of infantry. Also holed up in her capitol, 4-5 million supporters. The FS negotiator feels she can be worked with." Colonel Daly said

"Gonna have to fight the Baron, mark my words." Major Cunnard said

"Okay, well, let's hope not. Now, let's see to the men and decide what we do first." Scott said

            Garrison

The planet Garrison in the Lyran half of the Federated Commonwealth was the location of the Theater Prison Camps. None of the prisoners knew what was going on, only that they had been told to gather their few meager belongings. Once they had gathered their belongings, they were loaded onto truck and taken to the space port under guard. Unloaded from the trucks, they were ordered into formations. Star Colonel Gambrel Helmer was the ranking Jade Falcon, he watched as his Clan members formed up as they had many times before. He looked to his right and saw Star Captain Myles Tutuola and his Wolves forming up also. Looking to his left Helmer sneered as he watched Star Captain Christine Andrews forming up her Steel Vipers.

Even though it was one large prison camp, each of the Clans kept to themselves. It was obvious to everyone  that they were being transferred. Where no one knew. After the count was completed, Star Colonel Helmer heard the prisons commanding officer order his guards to load the prisoners aboard the dropship. As he began boarding the dropship wondered to himself "Wonder what our destination is?"

Craig, followed the line of loading Falcons into the dropship. Though classed as a technician, Craig was actually a member of the Scientist Caste, he along with 16 others had been captured on Twycross while they were there evaluating the captured factories for possible upgrade to Clan technology. He knew of 11 other scientists among the Wolf and Viper prisoners. Though he was Jade Falcon, he did not have any trouble associating with his fellow scientists from the Wolves or Vipers.

All told, 1,852 Clan prisoners boarded the dropship.

Takashi Newhunter was growing more irritated by the day. He was mad at himself for fleeing ghosts at Arundel. Now he had spent the last year hunkered down on HIS world and now supplies were running low. Last year he had "lost" an Invader Jumpship, Seeker, Union Dropship and a Mule to what he decided was a unknown force roaming the periphery in his neighborhood. He had no choice, we was going to have to risk a raid on the Federated Suns, he did not have enough supplies to make it to the Taurian Concordat. The 2 Scout Jumpships he used for scouting had reported increased AFFC patrols along the boarder regions. This was going to be risky.

He decided he would hit Skepptana. He had raided it a few times, usually making off with slaves to trade, but this time they would have to go after medicine, food, ammunition and anything else they could make off with. He had no desire to return to Arundel anytime soon, so he was not after slaves. He would send a single Invader, 2 Unions, his last Mule carrying 2 Mech companies and a infantry battalion crammed onto the Mule for the raid.

Leftenant General Scott Mitchell stood in his Alacorn's turret looking at the lance of Guillotines 600 meters away. He had both platoons of Alacorns, Honos and his Binary and both Star's of Elementals. Honos' techs had welded bars onto the mechs, so the Elementals could ride the standard mechs. Damien Crosby was in a Turhan a little further back. Scott's eye's picked up movement in the city behind the 4 Guillotines and he saw an old car heading towards them, must be the Baron, Scott thought to himself.

The small car halted only 30 meters away and Scott watched as a portly man got out. He caught CSM O'Malley's eye in the Alacorn next to his and then began dismounting his tank. Damien Crosby met him at the base of the tank. Together they both walked to meet the Baron.

"Baron Crocney, may I present Leftenant General Scott Mitchell of he Armed Forces of the Federated Suns, appointed as military governor of Bamburgh." Damien said

"So, your the new bull on this planet huh? Kind of young to be a governor of anything if you ask me." Baron Crocney said "This planet is mine."

Scott knew with those words that this was not going to go well "This planet is now a part of the Federated Suns Crocney, you need to realize that. Now, I was going to try and work with you, but I can tell that would be a waste of my time. So, I am going to make this short and simple so even you can understand it. You have 72 hours to disarm and submit to Federated Suns rule. Failure to do so will result in my returning here with my troops and removing you by force. I will not tolerate belligerent forces on this planet."

"You have no right to impose your will upon us. None at all." The Baron protested, he was about to continue but Scott cut him off.

"The people voted to join the Federated Suns, now since you seem to be the type of person who believes in power, I HAVE the military power to impose my will upon you. I would prefer this end with no bloodshed, but you have my terms. You have 72 hours from right this second. Make the right choice Crocney, because I do not believe in losing any of my people to scum and trash like you." Scott promptly spun on his heel and left the Baron standing on the road

Damien Crosby was speechless, this had gone even worse than he imagined. He had prodded Major Cunnard to tell him about this Leftenant General Mitchell after his comment and Major Cunnard filled him in on what had occurred on Arundel. Damien Crosby had been horrified. Hearing that this new military governor had ordered prisoners hung without a proper trial had turned his stomach. Pirates and bandits still deserved a fair trial. He stood in the road staring at the Baron for a few seconds and then turned to follow the new governor.

Scott mounted his Alacorn and keyed his mic "Let's pull back to the old League base, we will camp there." He switched frequencies "Colonel Daly?"

"Here sir" Colonel Daly's voice came over the radio

"I have a feeling we are going to have to go with the Baker plan, are they ready?" Scott asked

"Could do with a few more days, but yes sir, we are as ready as can be expected." Daly responded

"Get them to the League base, under wraps if you would. We will be making camp there." Scott ordered

"Yes sir, I will get them moving as soon as possible." Colonel Daly said

           Bamburgh

0230, as silently as they could, ghosts flitted among the shadows of Baron Crocney's capitol city. The lead squad of this particular platoon of ghosts was now within 50 meters of their assigned target. All across the city, other groups were nearing their targets also. Only a few sentries had been found and silenced. 4 Guillotine's were still posted near the front of the city, but the 4 assigned Mechwarriors were staying inside a house just 20 meters from their mechs. After the last several days of watching, everyone knew they would mount their mechs just before dawn, but during the night they relied upon roving infantry patrols to alert them of danger.

On the far side of the city, almost hidden in the dense forest was the Barons mech compound. 4 Guillotine and 5 Hammerhands were lined up and ready to roll. Their pilots were in their barracks situated roughly 100 meters away. Six separate sentries and 2 roving patrols had been silenced for this particular group to reach the feet of the Mechs.

0330, Leftenant General Mitchell watched as the radio operator slowly ticked off the small groups of troops as they reported they were in position and ready. Only one more group needed to make the call that they were in position.

0340, finally the last group reported in position and ready. Leftenant General Mitchell raised the mic to his mouth, he pressed the button and said a single word "Go".

All over the city, the groups began their assigned mission. At the Mech compound, 3 points of Elementals lit off their jump jets and moved for the barracks housing the mechs pilots. 2 points remained spread out among the feet of the powered down mechs. A sentry spotted the flares of the jump jets and began to raise his rifle to signal trouble but a single laser bolt cut him down before he could fire a shot. 15 Elementals landed and entered the barracks of the sleeping pilots.

At the entrance to the city, a similar action occurred but these armored figures were smaller than the hulking Elementals. But the results were the same. A full squad burst thru the door and entered the small house.

In less than 30 minutes, 98% of the Barons troops were accounted for and secured without incident. Infantry wearing, what they now knew were Nighthawk battle suits, had infiltrated the city and positioned themselves to seize as many of the Barons troops without incident. Those with jump jets avoided using them as a few had tried and injured themselves during the rushed training they had conducted.

0415, Baron Crocney awoke briefly at the sharp prick he felt on his arm but did not have a chance to emit a single noise before a huge hand clamped over his mouth while several other huge figures secured his arms and legs. It only took a minute or 2 before the powerful sedative took effect and he felt sleep take him again.

Leftenant General Mitchell, upon receiving the signal for all secure, he gave the order for 4 full infantry regiments to begin entering the small city on foot. As dawn broke over the small city and it's inhabitants began emerging from their homes, they discovered AFFS troops patrolling the streets and stationed at every intersection. The small city was secured without further incident. Only 9 of the Barons men had been killed and 31 injured during the occupation. Most of the injured came when a armored hand or arm met human flesh.

Baron Crocney began awakening from the drug induced sleep around 9am local time. He tried to move but found his arms and legs secured. His eyes began to focus and he found himself in his bedroom but he was not alone. There seated in a chair by the window was Leftenant General Mitchell sipping a cup of coffee, his nose told him. The Baron could also see 2 of the largest men he had ever seen near the General. Seeing the Baron was awake Scott set down the coffee mug.

"Crocney, your little rebellion or whatever this was is over. My men have secured the city and taken your soldiers prisoner during the night. I told you I won't risk my people's lives easily. Now, you have a choice to make. You can swear loyalty to the Federated Suns and this planets rightful appointed ruler or refuse and I make other arrangements for you and any of your followers who refuse. Either way, any kind of leadership role you had on this planet are over for good. Do you understand me?" Scott said

The Baron could not believe what he had just heard, they had been defeated in hours. All kinds of different arrangements went thru his head. Personally, the Baron knew he would have anyone who resisted his rule shot and buried. He kept looking at Scott but said nothing.

"I am waiting Crocney. I do have other matters to attend to." Scott said to Crocney and then to one of the hulking unarmored Elementals "Untie his arms and hands please."

As the huge man untied his arms and hands, Baron Crocney watched as the General poured a cup of coffee and handed it to the Baron once his arms were free. The Baron took a sip of the coffee, he had grown quite fond of the stuff. He knew he had to give this man an answer, he wanted to find a way out of this problem he found himself in suddenly. But his mind could not come up with anything, he had no kind of bargaining chips left. He took another sip of the coffee, well shit. "You win General, me and my people will swear our allegience to the Federated Suns and to whoever they appoint to rule this planet. Which I guess means you."

Scott nodded "I am glad to hear that Crocney. Remember what I said, your leadership role is over on this planet. Find a nice place to live a quiet life. Don't make me regret this, next time I will not be as nice. Now, let's go inform your city of the great news. Shall we?"

The ex-Baron Crocney could do nothing but nod his head.

First off a great story, Look forward to your almost daily posts. "Toujours Prêt " to fill me need for BTech.
I do not think the good Baron Crocney's going to give up, he can not fathom not being in control, A little demonstration of Orbital Death Bloom may be in order to show how out of his depth he is. Just be sure to explain you will not take one casualty if he wants to be petulant the last thing he will see is a flash of light.

          Bamburgh

All of the Mechs Crocney had were transfered to the Valley and placed under AFFS control. 8 Guillotine GLT-3N and 3 Hammerhand HMH-4D. Scott had spent the better part of 2 days in Crocney's former capitol city. The people of the city had taken the sudden change of events better than he expected. So far there had been no serious issues. He left 2 of the newer AFFS infantry regiments there to maintain order but he had the armored infantry led by the Clan Elementals march right down the main street on their way out of town just to show the people that they were vastly out classed.

Now, Scott and his troops were back at the Valley. Since the Duchess' capitol was such a distance away, after listening to Damien Crosby, Scott decided to go in light with just a Star of Honos' Elementals packed into a Mark VII landing craft to see if he could reason with the Duchess Sterode.

After the short flight, the Mark VII was using it's VTOL capability to land almst with easy walking distance of the Duchess' city. The suited Elementals exited first and formed a small perimeter. They had done several slow flyby's of the city to get a feel for the situation and spotted her Mechs. They had counted 28 of them. As Scott and Damien exited the landed shuttle, he could spot the mechs all heading his way. Well, if they go hostile, this will be a short but exciting time Scott thought to himself.

As they walked towards the city's forward gate, a carriage emerged "That's the Duchess General Mitchell." Damien informed Scott. They continued walking to meet the Duchess, as they did, Scott could but shake his head to himself and thought this planet is so primitive in some areas I don't know what to do with it, they have people but are so lacking in technological training. As they neared the carriage, Scott saw a woman in her mid 40's exit the carriage and begin walking to meet them. Damien led things off.

"Duchess Marcy Sterode, this is Leftenant General Scott Mitchell, appointed military governor of Bamburgh." He introduced

"So young, for such a huge job, General Mitchell. Welcome to Bamburgh and to my capitol city." She said as he gave a slight bow.

"Duchess Sterode, it is nice to finally meet you. Mr Crosby here and Colonel Daly have told me all about you. I hope we can avoid any unpleasantness and come to an agreement." Scott said

"I am sure we can work something out." She cooed

Before Scott could reply, his earpiece announced, "Sir, those mechs are getting close and we are outnumbered badly." He did not verbally reply but gave a slight nod. Focusing on the Duchess again "Duchess, please call off your approaching mechs, they are making my escort a little nervous."

"They mean no harm, they are for my security as much as your people here are for yours." She said

Scott did not really trust her, so he said a simple "One". In orbit, the Buford fired a single naval laser at the designated hilltop not far from the capitol city. The resulting impact and devastation on the not far away hilltop caused a small panic across the city. The Duchess almost fainted when the huge sound of the explosion rolled across the plains and then the city. "Oh my" was all she said.

"I suggest you halt those mechs and have them return to their base Duchess. I will not ask again." Scott said

The Duchess turned to a aide and said something in French, the aide took off at a run. "General, I have sent word for the Mechs to return to their homes. There was no need for any of this, they are very protective of me."

"And my people are protective of the Federated Suns. Now, I will go ahead and make this clearly said. I will not allow any mechs on this planet not under Federated Suns control. That is not negotiable. When we are concluded here with this meeting, all those mechs are to proceed to the Valley to be turned over to Federated Suns control." Scott said quietly but firmly

"And what of Baron Crocney and his forces?" The Duchess asked

"Crocney has already been dealt with Duchess. His people are now under Federated Suns control. He is no longer in a leadership role on Bamburgh. But I am here now to deal with you and your people. Mr Crosby here feels you can be worked with, so I will attempt it, once. You are the mayor of this city and the surrounding 200km. But you, this city and all it's people answer to the Federated Suns and it's duly appointed ruler of this planet. I will allow you 1 infantry regiment as a household guard. Any further forces are to either be disarmed or may join the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns. Everyone is governed by the laws of the Federated Suns. Mr Crosby and his team will ensure everyone knows their rights under the law." Scott said

"Your not here to negotiate I see." The Duchess said

"No, I am here to allow you the opportunity to remain in some capacity of leadership. This is your only chance. Refuse the offer and I will remove you just as I did Crocney. I refuse to risk my peoples lives needlessly." Scott said

"Given the circumstances General, and that demonstration, I accept your terms." The Duchess said

"Glad to hear it Duchess. Now, I have much to attend to. The mechs need to leave within 48 hours for the valley. I will be monitoring them. Mr Crosby will return with his team soon to work with you and your people here on the laws of the Federated Suns. I will also be establishing a garrison force of AFFS troops near here. I know communication is lacking on this planet, but I will be doing all I can to improve that soon. Welcome to the Federated Suns, Duchess Sterode." Scott said as he held out his hand, the Duchess took it and they shook.

  Pattonsburg

Dr Garcia was extremely happy with the way things were going with the school. They had started the first class with 4300 students and currently had 4084 students. The students lost could not handle Zero-G training and declined to switch to a course study that did not require Zero-G. But overall things were finding a rhythm everyone could work with. He had hired a slew of former employees of various schools and actually now had a full administration to handle all the work that needed to be done. He had decided that they would accept 3000 students every 6 months for training.

Challenge Systems and Jalastar had each provided another 30 people as instructors. The shipyard, 2 factories and dropship/tugs had arrived from Mackolla late October. The shipyard and factories were stripped down versions using the current technology found anywhere in the Inner Sphere. They were not the advanced stuff used at Mackolla or Panpour. He currently had the local construction companies making sure they had enough dorms for all the students. His current plan was to have 20,000 students attending the school at any one time.

  Mackolla

The Panpour convoy had arrived back at Mackolla today. It would be 10 days for the dropships to reach the surface. Over the last months, the Boss had completed all 4 500k shipyards originally slated and produced 1 more 250k shipyards for the Q-ships. He had Shipyard One currently producing the first million ton pressurized shipyard. It would take 3 months to complete it. Harry had only authorized one million ton yard to be built. No sense building more when they did not have the crew to operate it. The Boss only got it approved because he needed a way to perform maintenance on the Riga and Congress with the Salvage Yardship gone.

He was currently looking at his 3055 planning board

  250k Pressurized Shipyards
Shipyard One- Shipyard Twelve Mil ton (Feb 3055)
Shipyard Two- Pentagon (AFFC contract builds 36, Dec 3055)
Shipyard Three- Buford Corvette (AFFC contract builds 5, Dec 3055)
Shipyard Four- Patrol Corvette (AFFC contract builds 7, Dec 3055)
Shipyard Five-Gremlin Dropship (AFFC contract builds 60, Dec 3055)
Shipyard Ten- Q-ship (AFFC contract builds 5, Dec 3055)

  500k Pressurized Shipyards
Shipyard Six- Satatoga Carriers (AFFC contract builds 2, Dec 3055)
Shipyard Seven- Carrack Transport (AFFC contract builds 3, Dec 3055)
  Shipyard Eight-
  Shipyard Nine- maintenance Mackolla fleet

He could fullfill the AFFC contact in 3056 if he went full bore, he had already pushed the Gremlin completion to early 3056 so he could start Q-ship construction. But he was running Shipyard 9 with a skeleton crew since it was just maint he was performing and he had Eight with no crew aboard. He could cycle each jumpship in the fleet for maint at 2 weeks per ship. He was holding out hope for more people soon, he currently had the AFFC contract slated to be completed in 3057.

He still had the probem with the LF batteries to solve, they had blown out 3 cores on the Scout already. He had shelved that problem for now, he could not keep stopping one of his shipyards to replace the damn cores.

Like Scott's show of force, I do hope the dear Baron learns of it too.

Gale was on the bridge of the Salvage Yardship Mitchell watching the new jump core being installed on the Lola III nestled in the yard ships deployed framework. She was told it will take at least another week to 10 days to have the ship ready for a test jump. She had already sent a fax to Mackolla to have the Star Lords new jump core sent out here. Over the previous months she had Tug One literally strip the other Lola III down to it's skeleton. If it could be used in any way it was ripped off the derelict. She once again cursed her lack of attention to detail, we need a ship designed to chew up jump cores, process the remains, and chemically treat the recovered material so it would be safe to jump with. The Mitchell could cast jump cores, but it would take nearly a year for her to cast a jump core for the Lola III. 6 months for the Star Lord.

Overall she was quite happy with the current operation, most repairs had been completed on the Lola III except weapons installation. She suspected it would only take a month or so to have her combat ready again. They had stripped parts from the other Lola III to complete the needed repairs. Should have brought a standard jumpship loaded with empty dropships she thought to herself. But there were really none to be had at the current time. Maybe she would be allowed to come back and really strip the crap out of the last Lola III. Need some Behemoth dropships for this kind of work. Something with huge cargo bays.

 Bamburgh

Clayton and his survey crews had been busy. Bamburgh was not a resource loaded planet overall, it had decent amounts of all the common ores but they would not be the easiest to mine. It could probably be enough to take care of the planets needs itself but never a economical mining location. The planet's main value was it's population as far as Clayton was concerned.

Scott officially made the city in the Valley the planets capitol and had it named Haven. The Valley would also be the planets primary military base as it was easily defended. Several engineers, nuke specialists from the dropships were in the old Star League facility trying to see if the reactor could be put back into service. They had widened the opening in the entrance to allow a mech inside and they were working on patching it's power plant into the facilities power grid in an attempt to restore power.

He estimated it would cost billions and years to get this planet even to a 22-23rd century technology base.

             Bamburgh

The mechs from Duchess Sterode arrived today. As a precaution, Major Cunnard had 2 battalions of mechs with pilots in them ready to go if any hostile action occurred. He had ordered the 28 incoming mechs to enter the pass in a single file manner. The incoming mechs were:

   9 Crab CRB-27
   6 Phoenix Hawk PXH-1D
   4 Chameleon TRC-4B
   7 Enforcer ENF-4R
   2 Thunderbolt TDR-5S

Fortunately the incoming mechs followed all directions given and were parked at their designated locations. The mechs powered down and the pilots dismounted them as instructed. Major Cunnard knew there were well over a battalion worth of pilots on this planet. The ones he had met initially with the Holdfasts were currently driving the mining mechs that had been powered back up. But he sure was not going to trust any of these pilots for a while in a real mech. He watched as the now dismounted pilots lingered around their respective mechs. He felt a little sympathy for them, being dispossessed was probably an awful feeling.

For Scott, the arrival of the mechs signaled that the Duchess, at least for now, was giving holding up her end of the deal. But he also had no clue what to do with all the trained mech pilots on the planet. He decided to leave that issue alone for later consideration. Out of the 4 Infantry regiments and 2 Cavalry regiments under going training currently, the appointed instructors had already washed out over 500 personnel for what they considered failure to conform. Most showed no interest in working with anyone who was not from their original faction. The civilians got along very well with each other, but the members from the old military, the old hatreds ran deep. Even CSM O'Malley did not know how to completely overcome this issue.

  Panpour

Dexter Thasango was completely amazed at the speed these new shipyards and factories produced things. Orbital factories just oozed out of these new shipyards replacing older factories. Already, 2 of the new shipyards had 2 Monolith jumpships well on their way to completion. Compared to the old shipyards, the things built at light speed. The jump core factories seemed to reduce core construction by over 1/2 the time usually needed. He had yet been able to get near the shipyards control section. It was heavily guarded. Which was rare for civilian yards. Talking to friends, he learned that the factories were the same way, guards on the control sections. But several of those friends actually worked inside those control sections. They told him that inside was amazing, they could easily switch the yard or factory to produce every jumpship currently being built. He learned that what used to take well over a year to build a Monolith, the new shipyards would crank them out in 6 months time.

He thought about what he would report in his next down time to Galax and how he could phrase stuff so it could be easily understood. All he really knew was Challenge Systems was extremely serious on security aboard all the new facilities and that given another year or so and they could probably out produce any manufacturer anywhere.

While Dexter was going about his daily job, Maria Klein was going about her new job. She was a computer expert who was hired by Challenge Systems 4 months ago. Her current task was maintenance on the new facilities computer systems. A week ago was first time she had gotten a look at the actual code, she was surprised to see standard Star League programming. She had been working on computers aboard orbital facilities for over 12 years. She was raised on Terra, her new home was Gibson. The last time she had seen code like this was at the Titan Yards. Where had they gotten their hands on stuff this advanced she wondered.

  Tharkad

Duke Lawrence Rothschild of Tharkad Aerospace Group had been summoned to the Royal Palace for a meeting with Archon Melissa Steiner. He had no clue what she wanted. He was ushered into her private office upon his arrival with barely any wait time, which was very unusual.

"Ah, Duke Rothschild, I am so pleased that you could come meet me on such short notice. I would like to discuss a business opportunity with you." Archon Melissa Steiner said in greetings

"Your highness, I would drop everything to come and meet with you. It is good to have you back on Tharkad, you have been away for a long time." Duke Rothschild said

"Yes I have. It is nice to be back. Now, what do you know about Mitchell Aerospace?" She asked

"I only know what Seamus Zuiderwyk of Ioto Galactic has told me your highness. He told me you wanted him to license some designs from Mitchell Aerospace, but both he and Federated Boeing refused." The Duke answered

The Archon's eye's narrowed slightly "That is correct, I did offer a deal to them on behalf of Mitchell Aerospace. I am about to offer one to you. I would like for you to license 2 dropship designs from Mitchell Aerospace and build them here on Tharkad. We, as in the AFFC has already issued a contract to Mitchell Aerospace for both designs but we are going to need way more than they can provide. Plus, the delivery distance to the Lyran half of the Federated Commonwealth is vast." The Archon said

"Your Highness, I mean no disrespect but from the little I have learned about them, they are inexperienced in ship building with no known production facilities. Your asking me to risk an awful lot on an unknown design." The Duke said

"Duke Rothschild, I have known you a long time, so I am going to be very candid. But this never leaves this room. And I mean this, what I am about to reveal to you is classified as my eyes only. I am deadly serious about this. Mitchell Aerospace is for real, they do have a production facility. They are partnered with Challenge Systems and Jalastar Aerospace. And I just convinced Dynamico Limited to license some of their stuff. Challenge Systems is poised to dominate Monolith production and possibly dominate ANY jumpship line they decide to enter. Currently, the only companies doing business with Mitchell Aerospace are in the Federated Suns half of the Commonwealth. If you refuse, I will be approaching Semier Data Tron with the same offer. I might do so anyway." The Archon watched his reaction closely

"Your Highness, I appreciate your candor and trust in revealing this to me. But my yards can barely keep up with our current production orders." The Duke said, as a shipbuilder he had heard rumors that Challenge Systems had gone on a huge hiring spree the last few months.

"Okay, I can arrange for a new orbital yard to delivered to you. But Mitchell Aerospace gets a 20% cut of the profit on ANY and EVERY single thing produced from his designs. It is a good deal Duke Rothschild, don't be a fool and pass this up." The Archon said

"20% of the profit your highness? That is tantamount to highway robbery. How does he get off on demanding such a price?" The Duke exclaimed

Archon Melissa Steiner let her displeasure show on her face as she replied "Duke Rothschild, the CEO of Mitchell Aerospace has nothing to do with these negotiations. I AM THE ONE setting the price. The shipyard I will have delivered to you is the most advanced shipyard known to us. I personally have seen it with my own eyes. I know exactly what it can do. This is a one time offer. Pass this up and you will join Ioto and Federated Boeing as the biggest idiots in history."

"Your Highness, please excuse my outburst. I do not know what I will tell my investors if I accept a deal like this." The Duke said

"You tell them, look how much we made this year. That is all you tell them. They do not need to know the rest. I need your answer now Duke Rothschild. The day is getting late and depending on your answer I might have to arrange another appointment quickly." Archon Melissa Steiner said, she let the threat hand there

"Your Highness, I pray you are right. I accept the terms of the offer and will figure out how to contact Mitchell Aerospace to make the needed arrangements." The Duke finally relented

"Everything goes thru my office. No one else. I will make all the needed arrangements. I will make sure your accountants know where to make the deposits for Mitchell Aerospace. I thank you Duke Rothschild for accepting the deal. I promise you, you will be very satisfied." Archon Melissa Steiner said with a beaming smile
