Big Battlemechs - Revoltech style
« on: 04 February 2011, 18:50:49 »
I have been busy since the boards went down with some Revoltech figures.

GRF-1N Griffin from the Lyran 1st Royal Guards

The Griffin/Soltic was my first Revoltech and my fave. I painted it up in Lyran Royal Guard colors...I love the royal blue/gold scheme. I decided not to weather it or chip the paint or anything....I wanted to give it a "fresh out of the paint bay" look. I figure these mechs are guarding the royal palace, they also represent the palace itself so they should look top notch at all times.

SHD-2H Shadowhawk from the Draconis 8th Sword of Light

The Shadowhawk/Dougram is a very cool figure. The head opens up to reveal the cockpit (though not very detailed), the backpack is removable and the figure has a hand to carry the backpack. The figure also has an optional missile launcher for the left side of the head.

And one more....

STG-3R Stinger from Capellan's 1st McCarron's Armored Cavalry

The Stinger/VF-1A is pretty cool and came with armor to make a Super Valkyrie/Phoenix Hawk....the trouble is the figure is about an inch shorter than the Shadowhawk and Griffin....making it a perfect size for a Stinger, but a little short for a Phoenix Hawk. The Stinger needs a little more work, my Micron pen dried up on me so I need to replace that before I can do the panel lines. Once I do that, I am going to decal it and weather it and then seal it all in with a few layers of Dullcoat. (and yes, I know the gun on the head is missing.....it broke off while doing some work on it and I am deciding if I want to scratch build one that doesn't look so phallic or just re-glue the original)

On my next trip to the hobby shop, I am going to pick up Testors Decal Maker and try my hand at printing decals for the unit markings for all three.

Oh. My. God... WIN.

Makes me want to go paint up my Revoltech Regults in DBoG colors. :D
"Well, I do, Marcus, and rule number one of the MAC has always been that the man with the plan leads. If we get shot up, I'm the first one to get my ticket punched. There are no flags in the MAC."
"And there never will be," Barton said, nodding his head in agreement.

A great and amazing work! BTW I didn't know there was a Shadow Hawk or Griffin in revoltech. It has been a nice surprise. Thanks! [rockon]

Revoltechs look awesome to begin with (I'm a huge fan, have about 50 of them!), but these repaints are gorgeous.  I especially love the Shadow Hawk/Dougram.

Thanks guys! These were a lot of fun..wishing there were more out there. I suppose I should try and find a VF-1S so I can do a Wasp as well. I am thinking a Phoenix Hawk could be pulled off if it were jumping. The height issue would be lessened if the mech wasn't standing.

I wish they continued with some of the other Dougram mecha....would give an appendage to add a Bigfoot/Battlemaster to the collection.

I say they need to make a Tomahawk/Warhammer way before a Glaug/Marauder!

Agreed....I meant from this line of figures....so they would all more or less be in scale and ready for a war game.

That would be awesome, Spaceman Spiff had a Crusader like Macross figure in the background of a couple of his post that a friend of mine would kill for.

But they aren't Revoltech

Given that 1/60 kit and diecast toy of the Warhammer is available, I wonder if there is some sort of legal problem preventing the same for the Marauder?

Yamato are a relatively small company and basically only do a couple of new Macross toys per year, and Valkyries sell a lot better than Destroids.  given HLJ often have the Destroids that did come out on sale, it could be they're just not selling well enough for Yamato to do more.

Nice work.

I really need to go dig mine out of the garage and get them built and painted.   They are good at attracting attention at demo games and good talking points about BTech as a whole.
