Aim for fun: encourage everyone to make use of the splash matts?

Trip to get the parcel bag also netted more sweets and some interesting looking curried peas as a savoury snack

congrats charlie 6.  I've been out a little less then a year, and finally have things on track.

congrats charlie 6.  I've been out a little less then a year, and finally have things on track.
The well wishes are certainly appreciated.  I've a over a year to plan how to unscrew myself.  So not enough time...

For perspective, I've been saying for years that "I've to figure out what I want to do when I grow up," and am now faced with not being able to sing the old Toys R' Us theme, 'I don't wanna grow up...'  Oh well...such is life.

So, other than Nerd does anyone else have any big changes coming up?  Speaking of which how did the wedding ring shopping go?

I have to say, jewelry, though expensive, is an easy idea for a present. Since I suck at creative gifting, jewels always come in handy.  >:D

and before anyone asks, no, a painted BT mini won't do!  ;D

No, that's a waste of perfectly good mini, and most of the time, ladies prefer to wear jewels I've noticed over the years.

You sir, are married to a most unique woman.

You have NO idea. We've been watching Star Trek TNG, and last night we watched a couple episodes, one involving Picard undergoing surgery, and the other introduced the Borg. Due to an offhand comment, her solution to the crises in both episodes was to "Fill it with Greeks!".

Trojan horses, though she's thinking of 'Big Fat Greek Wedding' Greeks vs hoplites. The mental images are...odd.

Dog.  If I'm to have a furry creature in my house, I want one that's glad to have me, not one that grudgingly tolerates my presence.

I have never met a cat that "grudgingly tolerates" humans. Every single one I've seen was a devoted companion that became an utter wreck when their human was absent for a long period of time.

On a completely unrelated note to anything else in this thread, sometimes I almost wish lived in the Clans.  Then when people decide to do something that pisses me off I could beat them senseless and get the decision reversed.  Of course, there are some mitigating factors.

Most of the ones I've known pretty much ignored the people unless they wanted something.  It really seemed like they had a "this is my house, you're just living in it" thing going on.  Then again, my family doesn't have a good history with cats, by and large, so I'm probably biased.

At least my cats don't like to play with loud squeaky toys for hours on end. You know, the kind with multiple squeakers that when they get bitten down on just right, it feels like Cthulhu himself is trying to use your forebrain as a stress toy...

Yeah, thankfully the dogs I had were very good at ripping those sorts of toys apart and destroying the squeakers.  Fetch and tug-of-war are a lot more fun anyway.

I thought about resurrecting the Conquistador Fan Article, but it requires less black magic to put this here:

I really hope that at least a few of the Conquistadors use theme-naming appropriate to their class designation.  We need Conquistadors with names like FSS Hernan Cortes, FSS Francisco Pizarro, FSS Hernando de Soto, FSS Panfilo de Narvaez and, last but certainly not least, FSS Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca.

I hope everyone's weekend is starting well.

I asked my nearly 3-year old what I did for work and responded that I worked at a "noodle farm".  My wife thinks he was saying 'uniform' but my co-workers and I agree with his assessment.  Jury is still out on the noodle type 'though.
