So, I need to get these new .pdfs and block out a good few hours then?
Worth a look, particularly as you can get both TRO:3150 and TRO:3145 in a bundle for $30 atm on DriveThru-RPG.

It's more interesting than optimal, and therefore better. O0 - Weirdo

The border between the Federated Suns and the Combine is still described as "fluid" as of 3150,  but evidently from 3147 through 3148 the AFFS was using teams of elite commandoes equipped with Scarecrows to launch commando raids on worlds along the border. One particular unit, consisting of two Scarecrows and two Vulpes, is credited with attacks on a dozen worlds in that period alone, hitting supply depots and command centers. Sounds like the AFFS is determined to keep kicking. That one lance is credited with destroying thousands of tons of supplies and hundreds of specialised infantry and tech troops.

Sounds as if the Capellans have taken Cammal, and the earlier report about Operation CERBERUS mentions someone "returning home to Axton" in 3147, so the Capellans may have continued to push into the Capellan March after 3145. In fact, reading further on, the Capellans launched another invasion of the Capellan March in 3146.

There's mention of a 'MechWarrior receiving a commendation from "Erik Sandoval himself" after taking down a lance of Sword of Light 'Mechs on Coloma, which I guess means that Erik Sandoval is the new Duke and the Combine is on Coloma.

The Republic seems to be getting involved on the Combine/FedSuns border - there's a Castrum that's apparently fought in a number of systems, ranging between Dieron and Ozawa, and which during an early operation in the Quentin system killed Tai-shu Kambei Okamoto, the warlord of the Dieron Military District. That had to smart.

Julian Davion's piloting a Templar III, and apparently he met with FedSuns nobility on June in 3147 to discuss the functionality of the government-in-exile. That sounds a tad painful, if New Avalon isn't the seat of government any longer.

The First Liao Guards attacked Deneb Kaitos in 3146, and were fighting the Third FedSuns Armoured Cavalry, when the Fourth Dieron Regulars arrived and piled straight into the Guards.

There's no date on the entry, but it seems that the Second MAC and the Fifth Crucis Lancers were battling on Marlette at some point.

One mention on the Raven front: the Second Periphery Guard was redeployed to Winfield in 3145, and it sounds as if they announced their arrival with by sending their Aerospace group to Sterlington, where they brutalised the patrolling elements of the Ninth Raven Wing Cluster.

The Republic is evidently involved in some fashion on the Combine/FedSuns border - there's an entry on a Castrum that's been in action in several systems ranging from Dieron through to Ozawa, and which early on in its mission killed the Warlord of the Dieron Military District in a battle int he Quentin system. That had to hurt.

That's all I can see, and I should've turned in an hour... cursed new products :P[spoiler/]

ALL THE NOES!!!
Delivered from the blast,
Last of a line of lasts,
The pale princess of a palace cracked.
And now the kingdom comes;
crashing down undone,
And I am a master of a nothing place,
Of recoil and grace.

I did the same; I even provided IO comments.

Odd phenomenon after offloading half of my mini collection at Historicon: I interested in the game again.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.  The wife is having her 20th high school reunion tomorrow.  Hijinks to ensue.

Sadly I'm working this weekend, but it is only "short days" so supposed to be 9-5

In the same splurge of buying myself stuff, I also got the 1990s Tom Clancy book Marine and a load of other stuff including Redshirts and finally getting around to getting the most recent Temeraire book by Naomi Novik

Bummer about work.  Enjoy the reading though.  Let me know what you think of Marine.  I read it after I was commissioned (Heavens that book is nearly 20 years old) but found something lacking the second time around after one of my MEU deployments.

In Battletech, I am sure that several worlds do this all the time. However by the grace of God, Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, Holy Germany, and all that is in good taste, that video must be destroyed . . . no matter the cost.

Am I allowed a day off today after working 12 days straight at work then spending Saturday on an Army experience day 0800-1800 including PT at noon in the sun before a long evening not getting to bed until 0200?

Reading the Tom Clancy Marine book, I'm more conscious of his really-quick-right-wing political views than I think I was aware of when reading a lot of his other stuff. I'm reading through the descriptions of the equipment used by the USMC/used to get the USMC places (20years ago) but am now distracted as am also reading John Scalzi's Redshirts

Just got back Thursday night from a family vacation to Virginia and points in between.  Met up with some BattleTech  guys and toured the haunts. Went to Brickfair (basically LegoCon), Udvar Hazy, Manasses, Saw the USS Wisconsin at Norfolk and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Word of caution - while ARRSEpedia started out as a largely military site, there are now a lot of journalists and other less savoury types on the site mining for information. Stay for the anecdotes and stories, but be careful about taking anything as factual information - and be careful of your personal information. I know I'm probably trying to teach you to suck eggs, but...

It's a little dated now, but one of the best potted introductions I ever had to the British Army are the two books Jeremy Hands and Robert McGowan put together - Don't Cry For Me Sergeant Major and Try Not To Laugh, Sergeant Major. They're a little dated now (the first is about the Falklands) but I've worked with a couple of the people mentioned (by description or pseudonym) in the books, and the character of the Army and those in it hasn't changed much.

ETA: I'd also recommend watching Bluestone 42, and maybe the movie Dog Soldiers...

I love Bluestone 42 and have seen Dog Soldiers

Just because something's a bit dated doesn't make it wrong - House of God is one of the better (if harrowing) introductions to medicine and should be compulsory reading for all medical students

I'm taking most of the stuff on ARRSEpedia with a pinch of salt though

I hope you had fun at Brickfair and Udvar Hazy.  I skipped the first and drove past the second on my way to my wife's 20th high school reunion.  We discovered true apathy: 17 of 500 graduates came.

Dan, be the best you can at medicine...the Army stuff will take care of itself.  Oh, and run a bunch...that helps too.

Ah, you are one smart dude.  Honestly, the "y'all" helped.  US/UK:  a common people separated by a common language.  Got hung up on 'rubbish' and figured...well...I'm dumb.  My wife thinks so too.

AW got it right, it was meant to be an expression of sympathy about a poor turn out of people from your wife's reunion

I just held off describing it as "pants" as I thought that might not come across well

I have problems cutting and pasting quotes from other people when I post from my iPad which is why I hadn't cut your post up to comment separately on the different bits

For some reason I kept reading 'turnabout' rather than 'turnout'.  What's clearly become rubbish is my reading comprehension.  I blame my toddlers...and children's authors for making tiny books all sing songy.

Yay Nerd and The Doctor!

I'm knee deep in doing a bunch of work for pointless FOIA requests, FOIA is "Freedom of information Act" which is a law that all public bodies have to release all information requested of it, unless the info is protected for reasons (and other exceptions).  However, in my experience it's far less of transparency in government and way more of pushing a private agenda.
