Miniature of the Fortnight #45: Bane (Kraken)
« on: 19 June 2018, 21:00:04 »
"Unleash the Kraken!"

The Bane, or Kraken to the Inner Sphere, is another of the Clan Unseen 'Mechs from Technical Readout 3055.  TRO 3055 states this was a favorite of Clan Jade Falcon, although I'm not sure why.

The Bane (Kraken) has three sculpts:
  • First, the original Unseen sculpt (20-652).
  • The newer Reseen sculpt, for the Bane (Kraken) 4 (20-340).
  • The sculpt for the Kraken XR from XTRO: Clans (20-5065).
If you have any painted, Unseen or Reseen, please share pictures.  We'd love to see them!

Thank you for reading and a special thank you to those of you who will post.

Our next three fortnights will be: (Dates are approximations)
  • Inner Sphere (7/2): Cyclops
  • Clan (7/16): Clan Wolf Sourcebook part 2: Linebacker and Naga
  • Special (7/30): Artillery vehicles (both Inner Sphere and Clan)

My unseen Kraken is still in its blister, but the reseen has been build. Slightly modified (enlarged top ATM 6 to match the size of the other two, slightly spaced AC arms, magnetized torso). Painted as part of the Gamma galaxy, Clan Star Adder.

An assortment this time around:
1) An unmodified Kraken 4, with heavy weathering to try to disguise how ugly it is.  ;)
2) A modified Kraken 4, with bulked-up ATM rack and larger arms.
3) A stock XR (so much easier to work with than the reseen)
4) An unseen, heavily modified into a Kraken 3.

I build a Bane 3 with the parts of the old MFUK kit. It is in colors of my Star Adder Tau Galaxy. Sorry for the old pic.
There should be pics of my Smoke Jaguar Bane, but i can't find them.  :/

If I remember correctly, the resulting camouflage scheme is actually a cross blending of WWII British desert colors and WWII German ambush schemes. Hence the dots. To answer your question Worktroll, yes it did drive me dotty.  ;)

At the time that I made this Kraken 3, it was the only one in the world that existed as far as I know of. Who doesn't want to shoot 8 LRM 15s nearly every turn? Good times...
