Started playing this past week, really enjoying it. Not sure about the BBd. The South Carolina is so-so, but liveable. The Kawachi is just outright horrid. I am enjoying cruiser play the most, so far. Up to Tier IV, IJN, and Tier III, USN.

Aside: Tier IV Cruiser Contest has started, get in a Kuma or Phoenix and play your heart out for some doubloon and premium time as prizes!

I was tempted to try the event but then I would have to re-buy my Phoenix and as I'm saving up for my tier 8 US BB I couldn't see spending the credits to do it. On another note there was a thread on the WOW forums that the Devs are looking at a new model for dispersion on the BB guns at close range, that sounds like it may tighten things up a tad at knife fighting range.

Right now I'm grinding credits and free xp to buy my way past the Colorado which I unlocked yesterday. I don't recall the ship fondly from the CBT, did much better with my Nagato, and from what I have read and heard OBT has turned her into the worse performing ship in either the US or IJN lines.

You're correct. When you go to Colorado from the previous ship, your number of guns in a broadside just got shafted to only 8 barrels. And the dispersion went up progressively. That combination make her shooting something right down awful.

I only have tried the Colorado in CBT and didn't have a lot of trouble with it then(to the extent I questioned why everyone thought it was worse than a New Mexico) so it will be interesting to see if it is really that bad in OBT.

She was tolerable in CBT but I greatly preferred driving my Nagato over the Colorado truth be told and right now the majority consensus the devs down right neutered the ship . Therefor I'm sticking with my New Mexico which I do rather well in and saving up my free xp to skip right past it to the North Carolina.

On another note had a rather amazing streak on my DD's compared to my usually stinking hard core ;D bagged a South Carolina, a Omaha and a Wilkes on my Clemson doing my daily 1.5 xp run in her with torps and survived the match which was just as rare an occurrence as sinking anything with the fish.

That is the sort of issue that's deterring me from getting into WoWs. Add in the Murmansk getting a buff over the Omaha because reasons, and I just see the same BS inherited from WoT. Even with the example of the Warspite, I fear that the British line is going to be riddled with "challenging" ships to play, also because reasons. I waited until OBT to give the game a try, because there was no way I was going to spend money on another WG product, and, although the overall game play experience is OK, I'm simply not enthralled enough to overcome the WG factor.

Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised when the British finally gets added, prompting a rethink, but given WG's track record I'm not holding my breath.

What about the Japanese BB line?  Every time I keep getting my SoCar put up against Kongos I'm getting my butt kicked by the monster range advantage; is there a Money Pit in their line too or is it actually pretty decent?

Considering you're in a Tier III going against their Tier V, it is to be expected you won't do so well. I have only unlocked the Kawachi and Myogi. The Kawachi suffers from anemic range for a BB, but decent speed and maneuverability. The Myogi can get decent range once upgraded, but has three double turrets; it was frustrating for me to only have three chances per cycle to hit something. The only reason I went through the pain of unlocked them was to unlock the IJN CV line.

Input the code ALBANY for a 1897 USN armored cruiser Tier 2 Premium. Free slot. Be warned if you are not a collector sort, you will not be happy with the performance of the ship. 6.2 km range on the main guns, 2km range on her *4* secondaries. 18 knots. But tightest turning radius of the tier 2 cruisers (Chester and Chikuma) and a low silhouette profile (seriously look at how low her freeboard is!).

I love my Atlanta. She's awesome. Worth every penny for me. With her barrage and the 8 twin five inchers, she gobbles up any squadron (making sure you prioritize them!) that get in her range. She also crush destroyers with that armament.

If you're looking at her, remember she's really a LIGHT cruiser. A 5 incher HE direct hit can destroy any of her turrets. But I got her specifically to support the team ;)

Yep, if you're in a DD and got spotted/targeted by one of these, you're in for a very bad, but brief, time.

Fun times, making a gamble with a destroyer and pootling up the middle at half throttle.  Saw my gamble paid off with battleships going left and right, and there's a flattop in the enemy's force bar at the top.  Swung west, poured on the gas and the smoke, and made it unmolested all the way to it.  Twelve torpedoes later, FEED ME CARRIERS OMNOMNOM.

all I know is, I HATE the Mutsuki. Its worse in every important way from the Minekaze, and yet is the "better" ship. The Slog to Hatsuharu will suck....   :(

Yeah, after my Warspite got refunded due to the open Beta, I got an Atlanta instead and its not bad for a light cruiser...I would actually prefer even more guns over the useless torpedo tubes but its not really that bad.

I've played DD's on both sides through T8, and the Mutsuki is the worst of the lot.  The Hatashuru wasn't nearly as bad and the Bucky was decent imo.  Granted the Minekaze is near broken when played well with the 30 sec torps and that sweet spot of being in firing range while out of detection range.  Any ships going to be a downgrade (just like those after the Cleveland).

I've been killed by those torps more then I'd like to admit....   I tend to forget that it has them as it's the only high tier US cruiser with them.   Though the 4.5km range does make them only of situational value.

Ya know what I want to see some day? The battleship Richelieu. It would create such a different style of game-play compared to most other BBs.

They do say they intend to eventually introduce the French and considering that they've started saying that the Germans will be showing up soon it may not be far off to see the Richelieu.

Yeah, the Richelieu is one design I have always been interested in and would definitely make it a goal to get one whenever the French line shows up.

HMS Rodney isn't too different from her, except for the fact that it has 3 main turrets.

yeah, but the key difference is Rodney's are not superfiring. She still has to turn to broadside to get all her guns to bear. Richelieu on the other hand, doesn't care at all  (and may even prefer) if the enemy Caps her 'T'.

I have been having fun with this game.

Just got into a fight with a tier III battleship in my starter tier I cruiser.

Oh yeah.  I held the full and undivided attention of a battleship for two or three minutes.

He killed me, but I killed him with fire from the grave...

Which gave my two allied battleships time to take care of the other two battleships and all of their escorts.

I got a lot of good experience in that battle.  ;)

Yeah, that would require players to actually form lines and maneuver in formations, something that is anathema to how the game is played.   They mostly move erratically and in giant blobs.

Hm pondering which one to go for first; Independence CV or New Mexico BB. I'm on Langely and South Carolina so right at the start of each line.
