Clan Wolf vs. Clan Ghost Bear (Pics!)
« on: 08 May 2011, 19:13:56 »
We ran a front line Omni star of Clan Wolf vs a second line star of Clan Ghost Bear. Clan Wolf was the attacker. Zellbringen was not used. This was a straight up last man surviving wins!

The Board.

The Forces.

View from the Ghost Bears side of the field.

The first few turns were all movement as terrain severely limited LOS. The Pack Hunter moves ahead of the rest of the GB star.

The Grizzly and Highlander IIC trade shots with the Puma. Neither side connecting. The Kodiak's move up to engage the Timber Wolf and Nova Cat.

The Timber Wolf wisely backs up but the Summoner wants to play!

The Summoner lays some serious hurt to the rear armor of one of the Kodiak's. Taking little damage in return.

Things start to get up close and personal. The Grizzly has taken serious damage and is immobile due to Gyro damage. The Pack Hunter has completed it's flanking run but took some serious damage in the process.

The Grizzly is history, the Highlander IIC steps up to replace it on the hill. The Timber Wolf, Nova Cat and Mad Dog savage one of the Kodiak's while the other keeps its back to the hill to protect its rear armor.

The Nova Cat overheats and gets knocked down. The Timber Wolf takes an A/C 20 round to the head and the while the Kodiak loses a leg due to an ammo explosion. The Vulture takes severe damage from the other Kodiak, and gives it right back. Both mechs are eliminated next turn. The Pack Hunter had lost a leg and the Thor jumped in behind it and finished it off.

The Highlander IIC is all that remains of the GB forces. The Summoner and Puma remain for CW. The Summoner has taken some heavy damage by this point and without it's Gauss rifle.

The Summoner tries for a Death from Above. The Highlander misses with most of its shots. The Summoner ultimately is unsuccessfully.

The Puma is steadily closing range on the Highlander. The Summoner backs off and waits for the Puma as it is down to it SRM6 rack as its only weapon. By this time the Highlander has taken some moderate damage losing its left arm arm.

The game ends with the Highlander taking out both the Summoner and the Puma. The Highlander loses its left torso and takes two engine hits but is the only mech left standing.

It was a great game with lots of damage done. We had 6 of 10 mechs go out with engine hits. The Kodiak's are brutal up close and can soak up a lot of damage.

Variants used:
CW - Puma Prime, Mad Dog Prime, Summoner A, Nova Cat Prime, and Timber Wolf D. All pilots were 2/3.
GB - Pack Hunter, Grizzly, Highlander IIC, Kodiak, and Kodiak 3. All pilots were 3/2.

Terrain favored the Ghost Bears...  As is clan custom, the defender chooses the terrain.  Good job Ghost Bear commander!

Lovely Board, Nice unit for the GB.

That Nova Cat looks amazing.

On the bad side of things. What was the wolf commander thinking closing on a Pair of Kodiaks?
That was just a mental maneuver.

good to see all had fun at the end of the day thou.

The battle looks like a lot of fun & laughs
Nice photos and looks like some very pretty mechs on display there

First thing i thought was how intimidating the Ghost Bear selection was

And then, seeing the big group of mechs facing off at point blank range, with two Kodiaks in the middle!

I thought that was too funny...and the intro scene from Ghost Bears Legacy just came back to mind....
..... KODIAK BASE -- KODIAK!! Except this time it wasnt just a Mad Dog arm that got blown off, it was an entire Timber Wolf head  :D

Not the vastness of space, nor the Wolf's obstinate howl, will stay us from our righteous goal.
