Tactical Combat

Just looking for clarification on how many actions one can take in AToW, particular physical attacks. If I understand correctly, it would seem to contract TW, which would make sense.

Q. Given that Physical Attacks (with the exception of Ram, Charge and DFA) are considered Simple Actions, and one can execute 2 simple actions per turn, does that mean a unit can punch, kick or club attack twice in a Tactical Combat turn?

If so, that would be the equivalent of four physical attacks in a single Total Warfare turn!

Thanks!

Nope, sorry.
Yes, a Physical Attack is a Simple Action.
But it's also governed by the Rate of Fire rule, p.209. So, only 1 of those every 10 seconds, unless you have a Special Pilot Ability that allows you to attack more often.
The solution is just ignore Paul.

Just an assumption based on TW rules, but I'm assuming the Rate of Fire for punches is per Arm- so a person can punch with both arms in one turn, or one of each in consecutive turns?

Would it help to have to include this exception for punch attacks in an errata?

Any Punch attack is one or both arms, so not per arm.

It's not an exception.

Just to clarify if I want to make one (1) punch attack during Turn 1

A) Regardless of how many arms are used, this is one (1) simple action
B) I still can make another simple action during Turn 1
C) During Turn 2, I cannot make any other Physical Attack.
D) Assuming I punched with the Left Arm in Turn 1, per Rate of Fire rules, I CANNOT punch with the Right Arm in turn 2, even if it would otherwise be free to make a Punch Attack

Are all of these statements true?

Thanks, Paul!

You're not free to make a Punch Attack in Turn 2 if you did a Punch Attack in Turn 1.

No problem, I hope this clarifies things a bit.
'Mechs actually get a bit more deadly in the ATOW scale of things, and questions like this tap in to that.
