I personally cannot stand most of the ReSeens.
If running a game, I will use my UnSeens, metal & plastech, first.
If I am short of Unseen minis, I will break out the cardstock cutouts from the 1st & 2nd Ed. game sets.

When players ask about the Reseens vs. the Originals, I tell the truth.
"ReSeens were produced in reaction to copyright lawsuits, but I prefer my Originals."

Then again, I'm all for a Campaign to obtain full, complete and absolute ownership for all things UNSEEN.
And I'd be happy to put my $$$ where my mouth is...

It's nigh-on impossible. The only way to make it happen with no future fears would be for one business entity to control all the source material for the original images. Given that Macross alone is a massive industry in Japan, we're talking hundreds of millions of dollars.

And I swear, if I find out that someone spent that much cash just so Catalyst can print images of freaking MAD-3Rs again instead of, say, feeding the poor or even investing in something worthwhile, I will seriously lose my cool.

Well if Catalyst got control of Macross (the easiest way to resolve this scenario for the sake of discussion) then the cash flow would be rather significant. They could then begin to launch a massive series of new products in a wide variety of formats to increase profits even more. With their new mountain of cash that would rival Blizzard Entertainment's, they could do all kinds of good in the world. Just because something is expensive, doesn't mean it won't do good things in the long run.

On the other hand they might use they're new found wealth to enforce FASAnomics on the real world, so it probably is best to avoid the issue entirely.  :)

But stock price is the net present value of future cash flows (stock dividends). Why would stock price change due to irrational factors? Oh wait, this isn't my grad school finance class..... Nevermind.....

Ooh, I had a psych teacher like that.  She got so hung up on a few of her arguments that she actually changed the definitions of some of the terminology in order to "prove" that her ideas were true.  She wasn't amused when the next week I submitted a paper on straw man fallacies.
