Armor: BAR-5 or Standard
« on: 29 February 2020, 12:08:37 »
If I have a number of designs that mount less than 2 tons of armor, should I go for BAR-5 armor?  I mean, they can barely stand up to standard weapons anyway.

I have a 4 ton vtol (combat veh design) that moves 15/22 (a fast spec ops transport style) off of a 10 rated engine.  It's got .5 tons of standard armor which gives 8 points of armor overall amount 5 locations ... not really going to take a hit from anything.

BAR-5 would give it 12 points (have lots of other wee vehs like that too).  Any weapon over a MG still takes this down, why use full blown BAR-10 armor?

come to think of it, if my locations are going to have 5 or less armor, then BAR-5 might work.  If more than 5 points, then standard armor ... Hate to think a pilot might think they can take a ML hit b/c of 'heavy' armor at 6 points of BAR-5 and then get vaporized.
