BattleMechs / Re: Dark Age/IlClan AC-2, -5, -10, -20 Challenge
« Last post by DevianID on Today at 22:44:24 »
I wanted to do one more.  The ac10 and 20 already has several great variants in ilclan, but the ac2 less so.  I decided to make a new jackrabbit, the 25 ton ac2 mech.  The commando 1c is a very similiar ac2 mech, at 25 tons 6/9 speed, so the precedent is there.  This mech uses every late era weight saving bit of tech there is, including compact heat sinks to fit the heavy ferro armor.  The end result is 69 points of armor (up from the Jackrabbits original 62 armor) with 6/9 speed, and the firepower from the ac2 is doubled, thanks to cramming 2 AC2s into the 25 ton frame.  At 486 BV, you have a nice cheap plinker, which like the original jackrabbit should serve well in supporting infantry operations.  Versus faster targets, the 22 rounds of precision AC2 ammo provides enough duration that if you run out of ammo on this 25 ton unit, that means you survived at least 11 turns.
I can see this doing well at taking out tracks and hoverskirts and vtol rotors from afar, with a platoon or two of infantry providing close support per the original Jackrabbit intent.  Versus mechs, 24 hex range on a pair of AC2s means you can snipe from cross map, and try and stay out of ER PPC/Gauss range.  You will probably survive longer in an ac2 Jackrabbit then an SRM commando in ilclan combat.

Not really, no.  It would also kind of defeat the purpose, in a kind of, "Why are you making copies?"

You're running the game, but you don't have your own copies of their sheets?

What if someone comes to game and forgets them? You'd need to print them out again, right?

And yet its production value was still higher than Beastmaster: The Series.

Oh, man...That memory hurts...

but of course.
plus the fact that knot only can the Nimitz outpace any civilian ship,
but also the fact that Nimitz doesn't have to worry about "gas mileage".

"put her to Max Military power and leave her there..."

as of 2000, the unclass max speed was listed online as 33.6 knots+

I always liked the operation bulldog 70 ton Jagermech, so this seemed like a good time to update it with precision ac5s.  With 4 precision ac5s and 15 salvos each, backed up by 2 medium xpulse lasers, this Jagermech provides good accurate direct fire for 1218 BV.

Aerospace Combat / Re: FC Naval Command Decision
« Last post by AlphaMirage on Today at 22:15:37 »
I think the option is to replace it with the Durendal Destroyer that was presently in the design step. The Fox is okay for an assault transport but it really needs some heavier weapons and the Avalon needs a partner with some heavy guns although its a pretty decent Warship. An Avalon Cruiser with Durendal Destroyers optimized for massed NPPC fire against Clan Warships would make an effective combo.

With Vegas formally condemned to the regions of the 9th green the rest of my second round picks look like this:

(previously picked Carolina in 7)
Florida in 6.  Swayman is the reason they get 2.
Stars in 7.  Have to stay true to that prior to first round pick.  If not for that fact the Avs have plenty of reasons why they can win this series.
Oilers in 6.  I can't conceive a back up's back up stonewalling the Oilers.  If this were the Leafs the Canucks were playing I'd say it's anyone's game.

Didn’t she just go and convince them to show up for the ilClan Trial?  Seems like whatever problems they may once have had with her are over and done.

Novel and Sourcebook Reviews / Re: "Legacy"

Just finished it. Really fun concept.  I wouldn’t mind seeing something similar pop up over time in Shrapnel, following some other mech’s career.  trboturtle, even though it was a fraction of one story, I was glad to see Little Rock appear.  First time my home state (and the city I work in) have ever appeared in a BT story.  If you (or anyone else reading this) ever sets anything else in Arkansas again, PM me, I can provide local knowledge of geography etc (not that I expect the city to look the same in a thousand years, of course).
