Issue came up last night in a game dealing with Infantry in a building and attacking them with Machine Guns.

Now, the rules in TW page 172 state:

Quote
Burst-Fire Weapons: Burst-fire weapons apply their standard damage value against building hexes, not their damage vs. conventional infantry (see Attacks Against Conventional Infantry, p. 215).

All well and Good, a Machine Gun would then deal 2 points to the Building hex.

But what isn't clarified is the damage to the Infantry.

I (and my players) assume it means the machine gun does 2 damage to a Medium Building, and then (as per chart on Page 217, Burst Fire Weapons vs Infantry) roll 2d6 damage and halve that value for number of Infantry hit. Is that correct?

TW pp. 215-216
"When an attacker uses burst-fire weapons against conventional
infantry located in a building hex, treat such weapons
as direct-fire ballistic weapons, with their standard Damage
Values as noted on the appropriate Weapons and Equipment
Tables (see Attacking Units Inside Buildings, p. 171). Assign damage
as appropriate according to the Non-Infantry Weapon Damage
Against Infantry Table."

So, in this example, the infantry would take 1/10 = 0.1, for a minimum of 1 trooper.
