This is the Funding thread for New Production Molds for 25mm Mechwarrior Minis and it needs $1000.00 to be Funded.
Current Funding amount is $1000.00 and is funded.
The funding will be going towards 15 new production molds for the 40 OOP 25mm Mechwarrior minis, we would be doing 3 molds per faction group. So two molds will have 3 models in and the third will have 2 models in. If this is successfully funded these minis will be available individually through IWM online store as a Online Exclusive similar to the old Battletroop figures that are still available.
Please see the quote from Cazaril post with image of all 40 of the figures and grouped by faction.
Like many others, I regret not having purchased the 25mm Mechwarrior figures in the past. For those who don't even know what they all look like, here are some pictures (sorry they aren't the greatest, but they aren't completely horrible either ;) ). I believe it is complete (minus the Elemental which I believe is still for sale).. They come from Ral Partha's 1992 catalog.
Anyway, here they are.

Kickin'!
Speck, what are the chances of seeing some of the stuff from the BattleTroops boxset as well?
I am willing to put forward $200 for this.
-
I'll do $100.

Oh! I didn't know they were already archived. Well, guess I know what I am getting with my order of hex bases. Thanks, Speck!
-
Excellent!
I will do $200.
-
I am also down for $100

What a joke.
It's 2019. Use the money to produce miniatures who could challenge other modern miniature ranges.
But uhhh everything for the 10-100 40-50+ year old fanboys from back in the days.
Show it to the Millenials and they will laugh hard and are right to do so.

There have been many people asking to have these 40 figures available again. That is way this is happening. If you do not want them that is fine. New Mechwarrior figures would be great to do, but humanoid figure are still expensive to sculpt. We might get 1 or 3 for the cost of having new molds for these 40 OOP figures done.

A joke to you. As a millennial, at (almost) 34 years old, I disagree with your statement. I own a Kurita BattleTroops set and they look great.
I might toss in some money at this.
-
So we need another 300, right?
-
Put me down for 100 please

I'll be down for $50.

Those who have no concept of production cost or monetary value would do so. Those of us who do are smiling at the opportunity presented to us.
I'm in for $100.
-

$50 is left right now.

I'll go $50

I will try to get PM’s out tonight if I get home early enough. Otherwise it will happen tomorrow after work.
-
Well done folks.
-
Killed it before I could chip in. I’ll save it for the next one

So far all the millennial Battletech fans I know are cool with them. And seems like those here are as well.
Speck, thank you for getting this done!
-
Well that was fast. Well done everyone. It will be awesome to have these available again.
-
Hey Speck, what do you think the timeline would be for these to be out in production? It would be neat to see them in time for GenCon even though I wouldn't be going.

Can’t give any timeline right now. Going to get PM out tonight to start process of collecting the money. Once collect I can let Mike know it’s good to start fitting the work in.
-
PM messages have been sent out.

Paid
-
Just have a few people left to get payment from and then I can give Mike the green light. Stay tuned.
-
I'll be able to pay on Tuesday.
-
I paid! Thanks!

Paid.

All of the fund are in and I have let Mike know to fit them into the molding schedule.
I will have the vouchers out this week.

Incredible. I check the 25mm MechWarrior mini thread about once a month, and no progress, no progress, no progress, and then suddenly it's up for fan funding and fully funded in just a matter of days. I'm impressed. Guess I know what I'll be buying in a few months when these go into production.
I've already got a Davion infantry platoon, and at least half a box worth of Kurita troopers for a small infantry skirmish, but never had any Mechwarriors, pilots, or other appropriate figures to set up a good RPG scenario without "questionable" substitutions using fantasy figures ("Why does the military liason officer look like some kind of hide-wearing barbarian with an axe?"). This thread is excellent news.

I don't know man, sounds pretty accurate to the uniforms in Battletech to me.

Casual Fridays in rhetoric FRR military. :P

Maybe you can answer this question, Speck, but if not I understand.
I'm not so much asking on when these will be released (unless you know the mold schedule and can guess), but more what is the game plan. Are we looking at one massive release in a single quarter or spread out across multiple quarters?
-
Personal opinion, perhaps, but it would seem to me that the various Mechwarriors (some with neurohelmets) would be a hot seller for RPGs, either for player characters or NPCs trying to get to their 'Mechs, or for ejected pilots trying to evade death or capture at the hands of enemy infantry on an active battlefield. The other factions' ground troops (besides Davion and Kurita, who already have infantry sets) might be second most useful, and the various techs, security guards, etc., third.
Of course, different players will have different ideas for games they'd like to run, so I could be totally wrong. It might be interesting to see which of those figures would draw the most interest.
To weigh in on a couple of earlier comments, the sculpts are reasonably good enough to still fit into a relatively modern game, but not at the high end in quality. Basically, they're more than adequate for almost all purposes besides painting competitions, and I don't think we could expect to see IWM pay to have anything better sculpted in any reasonable timeframe, if ever. I'll take "good", if I can't have "great", because it beats having "nothing".
-
Did the vouchers get sent out yet? I'm just wondering if I missed it in my email.
-
I haven't gotten the voucher yet either, so I think Speck has just been busy.
-
On my list to get done.
-
Credit vouchers have been sent out.
-
Where can I find the link to get in on dropping funds on this?
-
The 'fan funding' part is already completed. Now we just have to wait for IWM to slot them into the production schedule. Don't expect them to be available until after Gen Con, at least...

Darn. Barring getting in on the funding cycle the fallback was to pick them up during my GenCon yearly visit to the Brick'n'Mortar location.

Fan Funding is just members of the community putting the money together to get a mini or minis into production. Once that's done, anyone can buy them - though they're generally only available via the website and cons.
-
I had to wait until they actually arrived yesterday at Origins but all of the Mechwarrior figure molds are done and we have at the show. For the Conventions this summer we are selling them by the faction in a blister. So each blister has all of that faction models in it. I will have images after Origins.
-
Oh snap, so you guys didn't wait at all to get them produced. Now it is just a matter of waiting for the web release.
-
Awesome!! 8) Big thanks to you Speck and everyone at IWM!
-
I picked up all 5 sets today. All 40 figures have crisp details, and mold lines are very fine and will require a minute at most to clean. One Liao figure and one Davion figure have heavier mold lines along arms and legs, and should require about 5 minutes of file work. All in all, very nice work.

Are photos possible? What kind of blisters are they in?

Hey Speck, any chance for those images? I don't mean to come across as thirsty, but... I am thirsty.
I get it that you are busy though. So just tell me to cool it if you don't have time yet.

;D :D
What's with the Liao crossbow? ???
I'd assume the figure is a commando. A crossbow is relatively silent, but can also fire stuff like transmitters or grappling hooks.
-
Both good answers! 8)

What's with the Liao crossbow? ???
Ask this guy...

That's an even better question! :D
-
"When I complained about the crossbow, the Lance Sergeant informed me that the militia on Wei had to use slings with manure as ammunition so I should count myself lucky"
-
LOL! ;D
-
What Johnson says in Halo 2 came to mind from that:
"When I joined the Corps, we didn't have any fancy-shmancy tanks. We had sticks! Two sticks, and a rock for the whole platoon - and we had to share the rock! Buck up, boy, you're one very lucky Marine!"
-
"LRRP? I thought the message said 'LARP'. My bad."
-
Definitely looking forward to seeing them up on the IWM site.
-
What's with the Liao crossbow? ???
Interestingly, there are reports of Chinese SF using crossbows in the field; they're as silent as they ever were (quieter than a suppressed weapon) and with modern materials to make them, possibly even more deadly.
-
Rate of fire is still pretty low, though. Give me a silenced firearm any day.
-
I have images up linked off of the Gencon announcement article on IWM website. After Gencon they will be released individually on the website.
-
So looking forward to these.
-
Released so I am locking this thread.
