Thanks for posting that!

And now i have to throw a request here: We need a follow-up article for the Hawk Moth as it is so closely related to the Yellow Jacket.
(And maybe Hawk Moth II too, as it shares name if nothing else with the Hawk Moth.)

Man, I feel like that one had an article... weird.

It's probably best that someone else handle that one though.

Anyone mind if I do an article on the various <5-ton vees? Just the armed ones, unless you actually want a lot of entries that say "This ones a bike/car/boat. You could use it as a spotter." over and over...

I thought they were labeled 'guided missiles' in the Capellan Confederation.

Even Capellans value life more than that. You never throw away perfectly good Servitor labor.

Heard tell of an article in the works about the Hachiman, which seems like an uncharacteristically sensible Clan missile tank. No rush, but any progress?

Fair warning: 90% of a Yellow Jacket VotW thread WILL consist of folks who think they're well-meaning trying to warn players about how bad it is, so that future generations don't make game-losing mistakes like picking up a Yellow Jacket record sheet. Also, much discussion of a ruleset that hasn't been in effect for about fifteen real-world years.

to be fair, anytime you have to completely rewrite the ruleset for an entire class of vehicles to make a single, specific design,  less of an embarrassment, the warnings are kind of deserved.  (yes, kids, it is actually that bad, but you have to actually use vehicles in your games against opponents who aren't brand new to the game, to really understand how bad it is.)

In a sense, the Yellowjacket is the poster child of "Yes, you can do that, the rules allow it, but it isn't a very intelligent thing to do, and for the resources and BV you can get more of something that actually works OFF the design sheet."

"If you have to ask permission, then it's no longer a Right, it has been turned into a Privilege-something that can be and will be taken from you when convenient."

Hey, we've gotten a bunch of new vehicles with Recognition Guides 25-32.  How about getting some Vehicles of the Week write-ups for them?

And a couple of surprising hate-mail PMs. I miss doing the writing for these, I don't miss some of the feedback. :blank:

Omni-units are always a tricky one for -otW articles, because you end up with multiple units to test and analyze rather than just one or two. The Scapha was particularly tricky due to the sheer number of variants, most of which were wildly different from one another in terms of how you go about using them, and I pride myself on having gone through at least a couple of test runs on Megamek with each one of them (as in every article where possible) before putting up analysis. So... yeah, Scapha was wild. Fun, but wild. (Luckily I was single at that point, so I had spare time enough to actually do all that testing- if I tried that now, my wife would probably make me eat a pack of hex bases with a fork.)

Having just read that article, I utterly fail to see what would cause someone to lose it. I don't agree with everything you wrote, but hate-mail? To a (presumably at that time) mod?

Was it about it being a ROTS unit?

Fans are weird man. My less-than-stellar designs for the Targe met with uproar like I'd turned the BattleMaster into a Charger.

It is more a sign that you can do the writing that you get hate mail. If your writing were not to them worth taking seriously, they would not. See it as a sign of that.
