Just got the 3145 Era Report and I really like it.
The bit I most like is the handling of inflation in the Dark Age era. If you have Wealth -1, you will not start with a firearm unless it has been issued to you, because even the cheapest firearm will cost more than 100 C-Bills. To buy a Berserker mech will set you back a few C-Bills shot of 300,000,000, while a ERPPC is nearly 2,500,000 C-Bills.
Can anybody recommend any of the Dark Age novels that covers Solaris under the Wolf Empire? Which novels actually cover the Dark Age around 3145?

I don't have ER:3145 yet, so I'm curious about this inflation. Is there a new list of mech prices, or did all mech prices get inflated by 10 fold, or something else?

All military equipment, really. Most other things too. Theres some economic hardship in addition to all the shooting. ;)

The Wolf Empire was only introduced in the most recently-published Dark Age novel, A Bonfire of Worlds (http://bg.battletech.com/?wpsc-product=bonfire-of-worlds). That book runs through to September 3143, so stops a couple of years before the point at which Era Report: 3145 picks things up again.
If I recall correctly, there is no major reference to Solaris VII in Bonfire, so any material about that world in ER:3145 is likely new.
(I don't know if there is any material on BattleCorps that covers S7 under the WE, either.)

Every Era Report has a small section that provides a variety of modifiers for equipment in ATOW. this way the prices can fluctuate depending on what's going on in the universe.
Of course, with War breaking out, the collapse of the C-bill and everyone buying whatever they can, inflation in 3145 has run rampant. Small arms have a modifier of 4.85, so that pistol that you wanted for 1000 in ATOW costs your 3145 character 4850.
Don't skimp on the wealth trait :)

The Wolf Empire came into being in the last Dark Age book - as such, there's no mention of what happens to Solaris under them
BUT! never fear! Wolf Hunters is set at least partially on Solaris and shows you what the Game World looks like in the dark age.
It's set 3135-37 or there abouts i think
Also, has anyone had a crack at RP'ing in the Dark Age yet?

I HAD been doing alot of preparation to run a Nova Cat campaign. Things kind of became Overcome By Events.

Just mix in elements of Battlestar Galactica and you'll be fine ;)

You have no idea how ironic that is. Their Vengeance-class mothership was already to be called Galactica ;D
I haven't canned it.. but yes the campaign can start to become much, much, much more like BSG....

I'm fairly happy that my homebrew for a RoTS affiliation was fairly close to what we got for non-Terrans. Also, with the new tracks and mini-campaigns, I may be able to finally carry my DA/AoD upgraded merc unit through the era.

Same. I'm cooking up a campaign revolving around the collapse of Prefecture III, the Senate, Drac invasion and knights and RAF units being forced to choose sides

Its kind of tempting to roll up a Tank Warrior just to see how it goes, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to afford anything as a Clanner with the modifiers from 3145 :)
-
Actually, I just realized Tank Warriors still have one major problem.
In order to get the Cavalry training as a Trueborn, you have to go through the Trueborn Sibko with either an Elemental or MW training, then you have to "Wash out" back to the Freeborn sibko. There's no direct cavalry option for the Trueborn.
-
That sounds like it deserves a rules question to ask for them to errata in a module addendum in ER3145.
-
Well, that's a simple fix. When the book says "Replace the Field Aptitude" it also means to replace the Fields in the training (Atleast if I'm reading the reply right).
So if you're creating a TankWarrior, you'd select Elemental or MechWarrior phenotype, change your Field Aptitude to "Clan Cavalry" and then you'd take the appropriate training in the Trueborn sibko (Elemental or MechWarrior) and then you'd replace anything Elemental or `Mech specific with something Cavalry specific. Easy fix without having to add another bunch of text.
