Formation of the Davion Brigade of Guards
« on: 11 June 2014, 06:05:57 »
I'd like to try and clarify something about the history of the various regiments of the Davion Brigade of Guards if possible, because I'm not sure if I'm reading some of the detail on them correctly.

Field Report: Federated Suns 2765 discusses the origins of the Davion Brigade of Guards/Royal Brigade on page 12, explaining that the Brigade began as the personal retinue of the Davion family, was responsible for the protection of the Federated Suns leader by the time Reynard Davion became President (2340) and became the Royal Brigade with the elevation of Simon Davion to the title of First Prince (2418).

Era Report: 2750 states on page 44 that the Davion Heavy Guards and the other regiments of the Davion Brigade of Guards were each initially set up to specialise in a specific style of warfare when they were first formed in the mid twenty-sixth century, with the Davion Heavy Guards being the First Prince's bodyguard unit.

Am I right in thinking that the intent from the detail in these two sources is that the Davion Brigade of Guards existed as a unit from at least as early as 2340, and became the Royal Brigade in roughly 2418, but that the system of numbered and named regiments within the Brigade detailed within sources such as Era Report: 2750 and Field Report: Federated Suns 2765 wasn't established in its current form until the mid twenty-sixth century and differs from the structure of the Royal Brigade? Although mid twenty-sixth century is somewhat vague, that would seem to correlate to when Alexander Davion reorganised the Federated Peacekeeping Forces into the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns.

It's more interesting than optimal, and therefore better. O0 - Weirdo
