Do the Engagement Control options (Forced Engagement, Overrun, Evade) also work in space combat?

Not that I can tell.  See page 246 of IO.  You make an engagement roll, and whoever has the highest MoS decides whether you want to fight or not.

If you don't have an engagement, it costs no extra thrust to move thru the hostile hex.

That eliminates the need for Forced Engagement or Evade.  I suppose Overrun COULD be used?  Not sure about that, though it makes some sense to blast your way through...
the problem is, it doesn't cost extra mp to move through, so the cost is off.

Yes,  the full rule set is used in space.  See page 246, Strategic Aerospace  Rules.  The rule refers players to Engagement Control on page 237 and run through to the bottom of page 238. Aerospace Formation may Force/Overrun/Evade.

The rules also scale up through Adv SBF,  Scaled SBF and ACS, referring players back to 246 and then to 237 again. The additional rule added is that all Engagement Control DR are triggered by movement into,  through or when exiting a hex (and presumably a zone on the CRM/SRM.
