In Grrl Power, superheroine Sydney "Halo" Scoville is talking with a doctor about her mental issues. One thing she says:
Quote
Oh I don't care about that! I kicked their * asses!
What she calls nightmare is ... I don't spoil it ;D
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights errant, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

I feel like Loki should have a group of minions following behind him, all dressed and singing like Eduard Khil.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

Is the nature of webcomics changing?  I found the ones i follow through the years starting fade, while new ones haven't really popped up.
sometimes you just have to look around. a lot of the normal services used to host webcomic sites have been dying off so new ones are often harder to find. you might want to check out webtoons and Tapas, they seem to be places a lot of webcomics start now (and die, sadly)

a few of my favorites..
Nothing Special
Sword Interval
The Uniques
White Heron
Sammy
The Gamercat

some comics also have alternate/archive uploads to those sites as well..
Demon Archives has a backup on tapas, though it runs a chapter or so behind.
No End (zombie comic with violence and some adult themes) used to update there but was able to secure a site of their own eventually.
Replay also has a backup there but it is way out of date. ( :( )
The last Cowboy updates on tapas as well, though a bit slower than the main site.

Just finished an archive crawl through the entirety of El Goonish Shive. That was exhausting, but enjoyable.

EGS has really gone through some serious art shifts, hasn't it?

It's 17 years old, I'm not surprised. And the current art style is cute as a button. :)

Oh yes, I think the current art style is great.  It's just funny going back and comparing Elliot or Ted's original looks to now.

Misfile is about the only webcomic I can think of that ran for a long time and never changed the art style at all.  And, well, the less I say about Misfile, the better.

I lost track of Misfile years ago. I'd stop reading it for a month or two, and then it'd be a huge pain in the ass to find my spot again.

Schlock Mercenaries seems to be cruising along with their big combat with the Pa'anuri. 10/5/2019 webcomic strip was awesome form of permission to Burn and then pillage.  ;D

OK.... who on here reads Quantum Vibe? https://www.quantumvibe.com/strip?page=2015 and who here is familiar with the setting to understand the politics of the setting? I'm try to understand the implications of the French Conehead dudes invading bubbleoplis?

If you have not, well go to the beginning. Its a long and convoluted ride (rare amounts of nudity plus they warm you, FYI)

The good news is Tayler has said he'll continue with stories in the same universe, just with different characters.  I'll miss the Tagons (both of them), but will probably continue reading when that day comes...

In other news, it appears Erfworld is done.  I'm already missing it...

I just want to get it over with. Not a big fan of how Tayler's comic has evolved.

Oh yeah I was wondering if there were other Erfworld readers here. It was really a "perfect storm" of tragedy, I'm still in shock over it.

Perfect storm indeed.  I e-mailed Rob, but haven't heard back (no surprise there).

Schlock has gone in an unexpected direction for me, but I'm still interested to see how it plays out.  Tayler still wins for his 4 SEP 2016 comic.  Even though he's never been in any military, he got it exactly right.

You were a Tool? What did you email him for?

Yeah well. It's a full 180 from the burn-and-eat Schlock we started out with and it doesnt make me laugh any more. Plus there's the whole clone thing which ends up making me just not care about the fate of the characters... Oh Tagon 3 died? Roll out the next one.

I wasn't a Tool, but did back their Kickstarter.  I e-mailed them my sympathy, basically.  Erfworld was one of my daily checks for years.

I still laugh at Schlock, if not as much as I used to.

Ah I see.

One thing about Erfworld, it really wasn't very economical. Even at peak it was working out at what, a dollar plus per page per Tool, how does that compare against a Marvel/DC comic book. Let alone a Kindle novella.

They were doing that mining thing for a bit... I thought that was going pretty well.  I'm sure the cash flow (or lack thereof) didn't kill it.  At least that's what I took away from the announcement.

Even when the last book wraps up, he said he going continue on with universe.  He was just dropping main characters so change things up.

Huzzar! I forgot about this fun webcomic. I actually thought it was dead.  I'm going re-read from 2002, celebrate's return. (goes into coma)
