game's just too violent to run around like that all the time. RGIII would have ended up like this eventually. Deshaun Watson is lucky to be mostly back to form after blowing out his knee. We'll see if Rogers will ever be the same. That Cam isn't in a wheelchair is a tribute to modern athletic training. Brady's health becomes more astounding the longer he defies the odds - and even he lost a season.

injuries like that happen all of the field every week, it's just so much more catastrophic when it happens to the qb because the rest of the team is largely expendable. it seemed like every time i watched a game they were talking about how this team or another was on its sixth corner or third guard. if you have a resource that is easily damaged but essential to this particular evolution of the game, yet really hard to replace, that's a problem. the seahawks were onto something when they used Wilson's contract to leverage the legion of boom - which was still a risk. everyone could see wilson was pro-ready, especially after that year at wisconsin... but no one had him as barry sanders with a bazooka. Hell, they brought him in to back up Matt Flynn (no shade. he leveraged that guaranteed money off that one game he threw for six TDs. Legend at the bank).

qbs are too expensive to be that fragile. maybe they were onto something in the 90s when you had troy aikman throwing for more than 20 TDs in a season exactly one (1) time.

I still blame the ****** organization for putting him out there after he was clearly already injured.

Just like they rushed McCoy's recovery and could very well have ended his career for nothing.  Sometimes you can't avoid injury, but those ****** go looking for it with their negligence.

What Mike Shanahan did to Griffin was just shy of criminal. It's a playoff game, yeah, but your guy can barely walk around on the sidelines- and you put him out there against that legendary (well, in hindsight) Seattle defense, on that WWI front line trench system that Snyder dares to call his football field? There's a lot of blame to point at people in that situation, but at the end of the day Shanahan made the decision to play Griffin in a situation where no sane coach would put his guy on the field, no matter how much pressure he was getting from the owner's box or the player himself. I was very disappointed in that decision, and the results are still hard to see in photos.

I'm no big fan of Griffin, and wasn't before his injury, but he deserved better than the way he got treated by Washington. His wasn't going to be a long career, with that playing style, but one can't help but wonder what it might have looked like if he'd ended up in Indianapolis rather than Andrew Luck in that draft. (Luck, of course, would have been killed in Week 12 of that season due to the last of his bones being hopelessly shattered, and buried in a touching ceremony under the 50 yard line in Landover just prior to that playoff game starting.)

So, after hiring a new coach, spending nine figures on free agency and completing the draft process, the Jets have fired their GM. How very Jets. At least this should help them in the long run....

Yeah, that timing is... unique. And now Adam Gase is GM and coach, and that always works out so well in the NFL.

The ******s and Cowboys both cut a player on the edge of training camp today, saving themselves a few million.

Watched the Seattle Denver game finally.

Even doing my best to not read too much into it Lynch just looked so much better than Smith and Penny just looks ready to go.  Hell overall they look like they got some guys.  Only worry I see are the receivers did not do a good job of getting open for Smith so I'm not sure Wilson will have true options.

My only criticism of the frost-bitten feet incident is that Hard Knocks didn’t have a camera closeup on Gruden’s face when he heard the news

Ouch.

The timing could have been better but still it is hard to blame him.  I'll miss his epic twitter posts the most though.

I guess the Colts are SOL this year.  I wonder what that'll do to the oddsmakers in Vegas; I dunno what they were at yesterday but it's 12/1 right now for the Colts to take the Superbowl.  Wonder how that'll change over the coming days...

For the record, first place is split between the Chiefs and the Patriots.

One of the SportsBooks has them at 30/1. This means that someone out there thinks Brissett won't be that bad as the new starter.

Apparently my 12/1 odds only update weekly, so I assume they'll wait till Monday to post new numbers.

Huh, so the Colts were a playoff team and Payton Manning decided to go back to school for his senior season and the Colts crashed and they drafted him. The Colts were a playoff team and Andrew Luck decided to go back to school for his senior season and after Manning hurt his neck, the Colts crashed and they drafted Luck. The Colts were a playoff team and Justin Herbert decided to go back to school for his senior season and Andrew Luck retired....

Heh, if cornerback Orlando Scandrick makes the Eagle's squad, the only team in the NFC East that won't have him on their salary cap this year will be the Giants. That would have to be some sort of record.

And now Vedvik is a Jet player.

He flunked 3 out of 4 FGs in the three games he played in and was cut by the Vikings and picked up by the Jets.
Hoping he does well there, I've always had a soft spot for the Jets since Flash Gordon played there.

The jets attempted the fifth most field goals per game last season so he should get ample opportunity to show his ability
