Frihet EVAC VTOL
« on: 25 February 2024, 18:02:06 »
An attempt to recreate the birds in DC Bruins' excellent (if unfinished) video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luIKMpl1lfk

My assumptions are that it can take an AC/20 (figuring one hit and one missed) to the nose and is pretty much slick otherwise.  The first one that gets shot down I think had preexisting damage to its side.

The thrusters maybe aren't ICE?

Possibly... I also see the exported text has a wildly different cost than what SAW is showing me (140K even).

That's a really great video

Oh, and the chopper isn't bad either :)

Just to double down on DC Bruins' excellent work, I found the 1989 Berlin concert performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, where they replaced "Freunde" (joy) with "Freiheit" (freedom): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn0IS-vlwCI

The most moving moment for me is a little after the hour mark, where the chorus (including the children) STANDS UP!  The video cuts off after eight straight minutes of standing ovation (and occasional EXTRA cheers!).

Also, +1 for the site not flagging the German words as misspelled (once I corrected them)! :)

Dunno how important it being 10 tons exactly is, but going 11 tons lets you eek out 12/18 speed with a smaller engine, and gives you 1 more IS point and a half-ton more armor to play with.  You probably get even more tonnage out of it with fractional accounting, due to how rounding works.

The only reason I avoided fractional accounting in this case was to try to keep it to canon rules...  You're 100% right 11 tons and FA makes it better, which is something Rasalhague would totally have done!
