Huh...now I wonder why this never got thought up...
« on: 14 December 2019, 12:44:53 »

Weaponry is actually pretty light in this case, a RAC-5 along with a couple of Medium Lasers and Machineguns to spice. But the Armor...this Patton is a brick you toss at the enemy and see how long it holds up.

Nice! I like the coaxial TAG, too.

Out of interest, what program did you build this with? I recreated the design using MegaMekLab, so I could gatling-AC virtual opposition with it, but I got slightly different Availability and Cost values, and was wondering whether I needed to raise a bug report with them ...

   Your design   MegaMekLab build
Availability   E/X-X-E-A   E/X-X-E-D
Cost   3,430,625 CB   3,490,850 CB
"That's Lieutenant Faceplant to you, Corporal!"

Things that I have learnt through clicking too fast on 'Move Done' on MegaMek: Double-check the CF of the building before jumping onto it, check artillery arrival times before standing in the neighbouring hex, and don't run across your own minefield.

"Hmm, I wonder if I can turn this into a MM map."

1 ton lighter than a LBX-AC/10...and three times the throw weight! MRM-30! Okay so it adds a +1 to hit, that really sucks. But this tank is meant to work with a C3 system to let someone else close in and then unleash a flurry of missiles to knock someone over!

The cost differences are probably in the area of ammo. MML and SAW use slightly different ammo calculation methodology IIRC.

I'm inclined to think SAW does it right... ammo isn't supposed to be included in initial unit price.

Incidentally it has been thought of. Your design is similar to the Manteuffel Prime. For whatever reason they stopped upgrading the Patton/Rommel

I admit that's pretty close but that XL Engine makes it so expensive...

Aha! Cheers!

You don't even get a full load when buying a brand-new tank? That seems stingy! [grin] Do the dealership not even put in those little air fresheners for that "new tank smell"?

Well, you could... but instead of the usual price per ton, you'd pay that price with the multiplier for the chassis tonnage.  I choose the former every time, personally...
