I wonder what the next IS 'Mech in MWO will be...

But 15 mission string campaign, that is great.

Also interested by the Instant Action variants, friendly fire off battle royale "Free for All", that's almost PvP...

Looking forward to the Long Bow, I do think they need try for less Assaults offerings.  Some folks are calling it Assault Mechs Oline

Weird thing about the cover art for the DLC, it reminds me of more of Outworlds Alliance stand off by DC soldiers during the Reunification war than War of 3039.

Art resembles the primitive version, with chest mounted cockpit.

From what I've been told that their at least one more DLR coming out aside from this one.

I think it's a closer match to the RG version.

STOKED.

I’ve really enjoyed MW5 for the most part, and seeing it still get love is great. And Missile Spam is always fun.

Does anyone know the in-game start date of the DLC run? I’m just into 3037 in my current game.

Does it have one of those short teasers and then a gap in between like the others?

Totally War of 3039 so probably briefly before then to join the 5th ALG before the first wave.

New update - https://mw5mercs.com/news/2023/09/85-otomo-variants-and-custom-difficulty

DLC will introduce custom gameplay difficulty options allowing you to increase or reduce enemy difficulty but also turn on things like unlimited ammo and increased heat dissipation as well as increasing or removing things like repair time/cost or the penalty hits to salvage or C-Bills if you exceed contract tonnage limits.

Also reveals the basic stats for the Otomo variants. Some look like just paint jobs based on the reduced overview stat page, but some very interesting.

Just hours away we have loadouts, a teased post-release update to enhance the non-hero variants and some pretty pretty key art.

I played one of the new Instant Action game modes. I think Team Combat might be bugged, at least a little bit. The one game I tried – don't have time for more this morning – neither enemy team seemed to have spawned.

The DLC missions are post-campaign and cement the "official" completion of the campaign prior to 3039. And its nicely restrictive, lot of back to back only 4 day between missions/no time to repair to complicate things :)

So if my current campaign hasn’t finished the story missions yet but is in 3037, does that work in well? Or do I need to finish the campaign?

Doesn't lock you out, might make the conversation with Sharilar Mori threatening you to help the Combine on behalf of ComStar in the War of 3039 to "repay" for killing Yamata during the campaign awkward...

I seem to be not a solo player anymore, I may try convince my friends team up on the cooperative missions instead.  It maybe fun, as long my guys don't use the Air Drop battalion UrbanMechs thing.

No worries; I’ve finished the Campaign once already, I just have imposed some restrictions on my current play through to make it feel a bit more in line with the lore in my minds eye.

 I finished this DLC.

I loved it, it's got really big set-piece battles that are just a total blast to play. It's less strained than Rise of Rasalhague where you're pretty much forced to run 4 lances the whole time. There's enough turn-around time that you can get things repaired and maintained to some extent. The mission design is truly epic though, there's lots of cinematic moments and full scale war going on.

Anyone else having the current mods working with the new patch that proceeded the DLC launch ?
Even a few weeks later, the mods have no working updates (free I know), and the SW creators patch today just nerfed all the upgrades by drastic amounts, with no CBill reduction of course.   Not sure if they could be trying any harder to alienate thier customers, but sure seems like they are doing thier best.  I was going to buy more DLC's but after this botched job, I go back to something else for a while.   OF course I miss when we owned the game with physical media and could decide if WE wanted to patch or not, unlike todays, "rental model"
legitimate,. grumble, grumble

So, let me get this straight. You are upset that the owner of a game/software is not supporting the myriad of Mods out there created by the user base? Is that not a little extreme? It would be like complaining Ford's 2024 Models didn't support the 2023 After Market producers of accessories. I know, not 100% the same, but same enough.

Yeah I legit don't understand "mod culture" in modern games. First of all it generates lots of copes when the developer releases something subpar: "Yeah but you gotta download the mods, maaaannnnn." No I shouldn't have to download any extraneous third party software to make the game playable.

Then, secondly, it's just a great way to insure you end up all sorts of problems when a new patch/DLC comes out. It should be really obvious that modified games are gonna unstable, they're called "mods" for a reason.

Now I'm gonna go back to playing Mech 5...
