Metal minis question
« on: 21 April 2014, 16:23:49 »
Do they come in bits or are they in one piece ala box set plastic minis?  If they come in separate parts, then I can see that as being easier to re-pose the mechs but if they come in one piece.... well, a hacksaw is needed for even the tiniest change, right?

Thanks!

The majority come in multiple pieces. Some of the smaller ones do still come as a 1 piece cast...but most are multi-piece.

Not all of the multi-part minis will offer you a great deal in the way of reposing, but most will. The latest re-sculpt of the Atlas is a real joy in that regard, with lots of pieces and flexibility in how you pose them.

I recently acquired one of the new re-sculpted Mad Cats and despite it having eight pieces, I found there's really only one pose that works without needing to do some metal work.

Check out the pictures on Camospecs for any given mini and you'll get an idea for the range of poses possible. they're also pretty good about noting if/when a model was modified beyond just posing existing parts.

Remember that pewter(ralidium, whatever) is act6ually a very soft metal. You can actually get a lot of joint-bending one by hand, though it'll take a bit of experience to get a feel for the difference between bending and snapping the limb off. Best of all, bent metal keeps the new angle, not slowly moving back like plastic does.
