I give you, the one table I wish we had for easy reference in BattleTech.

If you see anything I missed, please let me know.

**UPDATED TABLE March 22, 2024**

I have updated the SHOULDER CRITICAL HIT after getting clarification in the the rules forum on the wording in the rules:

As an Example, if anyone knows the location of the movement penalty for MISSING a Leg knows where it is, that would be a great help...not where one would thing it is...

For example, Page 13 of the BATTLEMECH MANUAL states a ONE-LEGGED MECh can only walk, but on page 48 for LEG BLOWN OFF makes no mention of the new movement penalty...

Nice. I was trying to make one recently and got distracted. I was talking with FearFactory today and we both mentioned how frustrating it seemed that the tables in TW were laid out. You just can't find what you are looking for.

Finally found the Rule for Missing Legs:

Page 12 of TW, and page 44 of BMM.

A mech with a missing leg has 1 MP, cannot run, but can still Jump.

I'll update the table in a moment

It's also probably worth noting the minimum movement rule in a footnote (BMM page 16, and one legged exceptions in several places; I suspect that three leg actuator crits wouldn't prevent an Atlas from using it, but that's not explicitly stated anywhere I've looked).

Very cool. A couple small amendments I'd make - use the little cross footnotes for gyro hits, and mention that a mech is destroyed outright on 3 engine crits. Otherwise, I like it.

For the gyro, instead of "+6 PSR on destroyed, Auto Fall", have it be "+6 PSR on second hit *", because you already have a footnote of "* The 'Mech automatically falls at the end oft he phase the critical hit occurs". Saves words, and uses the same notation as the rest of the table.

I could do that I suppose, but....bear in mind some of them rules are NOT where you expect to find them.

i.e. Rules for No-Hips and Kicks, not page 48 of BMM, but page 38 under KICK ATTACKS...while all other actuator kick effects on that page.

Rules for Missing Leg of 1 MP is page 44 of BMM (LEG DESTRUCTION), but not on page 48, LEG BLOWN OFF (LEG), even though all other movement modifiers are there.

If you see anything I missed, please let me know.

**UPDATED TABLE July 24**

I have added page numbers for each entry, Hips being under LEG DESTRUCTION get's that noted as well.

Finally, I changed the TABLE COLOR to Purple as all other tables in the damage chapter of BMM are purple as well, I felt, why not

Is it ok if I share this table on my Facebook page for my local players to see?

Don't worry, my players make me reference all my decisions to the RAW or to demo agents/devs. This chart will get more respect at the table if I say where it came from.

If only there was a way to simply add this information into the record sheet to make it even easier. I am surprised this hasn't been in any of the books in the past. Crits are the most annoying thing in the game to look up.

I noticed a Typo (still present since 2018!  ), under head.

"1 Pilot Hit if Heat 15-25
2 Pilot Hits is heat 26+"

Should be: "2 Pilot Hits if Heat 26+" instead.   :smilie_happy_thumbup:

Personally, I'm more used to seeing "Dmg" for Damage, rather than "Dam".  As others have said, GREAT Consolidated table though!   :smilie_happy_thumbup:

I DO wonder if any of the pages listed have been changed in any updates since you made the List?     I doubt it, but still a possibility I guess.  Maybe?
To me, Repros are 100% Wrong, and there's NO  room for me to give ground on this subject. I'm not just an Immovable Object on this, I'm THE Immovable Object. 3D Prints are just 3D Repros.

Mekton has a table in which you can randomly roll what happens to the pilot when their mech is destroyed (like, gives a speech before blowing up).  I want to create a table when a mech gets a head hit, all internal-dots gone or a critical to the pilot.

1. Static. ("Unit #, are you there?")
2. "Mommy".
3. "You couldn't get the broad-side of a dropshi. . ."
4. Sound of a melon-exploding or a microwave-ding if hit by a PPC.
5. Screams for one turn over the radio.
6. *Gives speech*

I've been trying to figure out where I found this table! I'm so glad somebody necro'd this thread! I use it every game & it's a great resource! Thank you NeonKnight for creating it.

I note a few potential points of change:
The ‡ note says "Movement modifiers based on order critical hits occur" but on TW p.126 Hip (Leg) paragraph 2 says "The ’Mech’s Walking MP is cut in half (round up; apply before any leg or foot actuator damage MP reductions)." Also, 4th paragraph says "A critical hit to the second hip reduces the ’Mech’s MP to 0 [...] (the ’Mech is not considered immobile, however)"

Shoulder could note (TW p.128, Shoulder (Arm), 1st paragraph, last sentence) "After a shoulder critical hit, ignore all other weapons fire modifiers from critical hits to that arm."

Thanx - I'll check on these shortly. I try to check the rules between both TW and BMM, as the rules should be the same between the two.

**EDIT**

Ok, updated table to reflect them rules - thanx again. I will note though, as per the newest printing of TOTAL WARFARE, the Rules for HIPS are now found on Page 127.

After looking at the wording of SHOULDER CRITICALS it was a little vague and could be viewed to work similar to HIP criticals. I now have an official answer, so table has been updated appropriately.

A table involving moral.  Just something as a GM, I can roll to determine if a unit stays and fights to the death or not.

Sadly, that is more of an optional type rule. This table (and thread) is tracking only with regards to Critical Hit effects, and even then, is not something you roll on, just a reference table (Like the Movement Modifiers, Terrain Modifiers or Attack Modifiers)

on the role the only time i recall moral being mention was for infantry.  but i can see for example a green mech warrior would flee with amor breach.  Regular with a limb or completely amor in a area or lose of a weapon.  Vet when receiving critical hit on engine, gyro so on.  while fanatical never leave till the battle is finish

Even Green-units will fight to the death and elites will bug-out if they think the odds aren't in their favor.  The old adage that a man is never too wounded to fight, also applies to not wounded at all, to run.  But, I'd just like a chart is a method so, as GM, I can make a decision that just involves the rolling of dice, not me deciding if the NPC(s) wants to run or continue.
