Miniature of the Fortnight #50: Warhammer IIC
« on: 29 August 2018, 09:34:59 »
Once upon a time, there was the Warhammer and BattleTech was a Mad Max-ish setting called the Inner Sphere.  The universe evolved and became something new and different.  And then came the Clans with their OmniMechs.  But they needed BatleMechs for second-line forces (given the resource limitations imposed on the Clans) and so we got some in Technical Readout: 3055.

I'm not entirely sure what decision processes led to the Warhammer IIC but here we are.  To learn about the 'Mech, please see its 'Mech of the Week article.

As one of the 'Mechs with artwork commissioned from a third party (I believe Victor Music Industries.  I'm sitting in an airport as I write this and not near my books.), it became Unseen during the kerfuffle of the late '90's and then had a Reseen version in Techinical Readout: Project Phoenix and then new artwork again in Technical Readout: 3085.  Each different set of artwork has its own sculpt:
  • The original Unseen miniature was released by Ral Partha as 20-796.
  • The Warhammer IIC 4 based on the Project Phoenix art was released by IWM as 20-233.
  • The Warhammer IIC 8 based on the TRO 3085 art was released by IWM as 20-5073.
If you have any Warhammer IICs painted, Unseen or Reseen (or Classic in the far off possible future), please post them.  We'd love to see them!

Thank you for reading and a special thank you to those of you who post.

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • Inner Sphere (9/10): Shogun
  • Clan (9/24): Marauder IIC

Just 2 from me.  Original release and resculpt.  Went with some animated inspired color schemes from that time.

Here's one I did many, many years ago. Not in a canon color scheme. Sorry about the mold lines on the cockpit.
