Miniatures of the Fortnight #55: Stalker and Stalker II
« on: 05 November 2018, 21:49:23 »
This fortnight, we'll look at the Stalker, one of the older assault 'Mechs, hailing from Technical Readout: 3025.  Slowly but surely, it just keeps on coming.  Emphasis on slowly.  To learn more, see its 'Mech of the week article.

Unlike many TRO 3025 'Mechs, the Stalker has two metal sculpts:
  • The original sculpt for the STK-3F variant (20-862).
  • The resculpt for the STK-7D variant (20-383).
  • Finally, there is a plastic sculpt released by CGL in the Fire Lance Pack, based on the original sculpt.
The Stalker also has a descendent, the Stalker II, which comes even more surely and slowly.  It has a single sculpt (20-5116) but CSO does not have any painted examples.

So, if you have any painted, metal or plastic, 3025 or later, slow or even slower, please share pictures.  We'd love to see them!

As always, thank you for reading!  And a special thanks to those of you who post.

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • Clan (11/19): Turkina
  • Inner Sphere (12/3): Spider

OG Stalker and resculpt

STK-3H, STK-7D and STK-8S

STK-9A Stalker II, 2 of them.

I like the Stalker.

One of my favorite assault mechs! 8)  I've got three Stalkers here, all STK-3Fs.  First, an AS plastic done to match the box art of the Dragoons.  Second, same scheme, but now on an IWM resculpt to replace the first.  Last, another AS plastic in Illician Lancer colors.

A little recent, but I like contributing to these compilation threads!

MechWarrior Bolthorn's custom six-Large-Laser Stalker (using the Stalker II sculpt), from Echo Lance of the Oosik Irregulars 1st Battalion.

I really like that Stalker II sculpt.  It's so good.

Nice work on the battle damage Wotan.  That's pretty sweet. 8)

recently posted in a separate thread, but it was due for a better photo. Painted in Donegal Guards colours. Mini is from a plastic Alpha Strike lance pack.

I thought I only had two, but I guess I have three...

These first two were painted in the early '90s.

Davion - Albion Military Acedemy - STK-3F Stalker

Kurita - 2nd An Ting Legion - STK-3F Stalker

This one got a slight refresh in the late 2000s

Steiner - 3rd Lyran Guards - STK-3H Stalker

This was suppose to have a much more elaborate background... The idea was that it would be walking out of a dropship, with the mini placed in a niche so the gangway would line up with the background (allowing for many minis to use the same backdrop). Needless to say, I finished the mini but the dropship is still WIP.

3rd Lyran Guards - STK-3H Stalker

That is how a Stalker should look like. Massive firepower visible. I was always disappointed about the small missile launchers of that mech, while all others seem to use bigger missiles. I would love to see that as regular sculpt.

The ones I have completed are at a different scale.

I do have the original sculpt in both metal and plastic, but oddly enough, I want to get a Stalker II for my team Tan, because I like how it looks, and will look next to the primitive Banshee and Orion I plan to put alongside it.

I'll have those on this thread, soon enough. For now, enjoy the map-scale fun.
