Overview:
The Awesome-11PW is another entry in the experimental use of Clan-spec double
heat sinks. This unit is equipped with twenty Clan spec heat sinks, and a
Partial Wing.


Capabilities:
Engineers started with an existing AWS-9M chassis, but removed all the
secondary weapons and heat sinks. In their place, they installed twenty double
heat sinks purchased from Clan Sea Fox. As an experiment, they also instaled a
Partial Wing to see how its purported cooling ability would affect the Awesome.


Unfortunately to make room for the partial wing, the engineers had to remove
nearly all the Awesome's secondary weaponry. Only a head mounted Small Pulse
Laser remains.


With better cooling options available, the Awesome-11PW will likely never see service
on the field and remain an odd footnote in history.

Apollo's Law- if it needs Clan tech to make it useable, It doesn't deserve those resources in the first place.
Sure it isn't the most practical 'mech ever designed, but it's a hundred ton axe-murderer. If loving that is wrong I don't wanna be right.

I'm not either, but it seemed like something totally random that hadn't been done before, and could maybe be approved by some executive who was out of their mind on drugs. Probably justified by said executive as "It's still better than using compact heat sinks."

Overview:
Based on the AWS-11PW technology demonstrator, Irian engineers created the
AWS-11PWr2 as a test of their ability to produce Clan-spec equipment and
weapons.

They first rebuilt the skeleton with a Composite model. (The company purchased
several ON3-M Orion specifically to examine the composite structure used
by that 'Mech.) They then installed a Clan-spec Partial Wing, using notes from
Angelique Claw's TR2-X Wraith Alexander refit. Six Improved Jump Jets
were installed in the torso and legs.

To free weight and make room for these modifications while retaining the twenty
Clan spec heatsinks, engineers had to remove the lower arm actuator from the
right arm and install an extralight gyroscope. A small cockpit was considered
but given the 'Mech's improved jumping ability the test pilots recommended not
making their jobs harder than necessary. Irian's engineers actually improved on
this suggestion by adding a Full-Head Ejection System.

Three Clan-spec Type DDS "Kingston" ER PPCs were installed in the
Awesome's traditional weapon mounts.

Yup. Sick, ain't it?

If only I could combine mechanical jump boosters in there too, and we were allowed to use them in combination with jump jets...Turning this Awesome into a two-stage rocket that starts flight with the MJB then lets the IJJ/PW take over the flight.

I did this with my Battlemaster-CJ.

Jump-7 w/ Clan Pulse lasers.   

It just wasn't right.

Other than the last 3 hexes, there's no reason to take IS LPL over a snubbie.
Snubbie's better range bands beat or equal the LPL's -2 bonus from 4 to 10 hexes. While the snub nose doesn't hit as hard past 9 hexes, the laser can't hit at all past 10.

Apollo's Law- if it needs Clan tech to make it useable, It doesn't deserve those resources in the first place.
Sure it isn't the most practical 'mech ever designed, but it's a hundred ton axe-murderer. If loving that is wrong I don't wanna be right.
