Ejection systems for submersible Combat Vehicles
« on: 28 August 2023, 12:57:46 »
Submersible combat vehicles are allowed to use maritime lifeboats (TechManual, page 227, sixth printing) but not maritime escape pods (TechManual, page 216, sixth printing). This seems to be at odds with the fiction accompanying each, which seem to indicate the exact opposite.

Is the idea that military submarines should use the Combat Vehicle Escape Pod (Tactical Operations: Advanced Units & Equipment, page 121, sixth printing) instead? The rules for using it underwater are somewhat less clear than with maritime lifeboats, and they can't be reused like lifeboats (presumably) can be.

It seems that submersible Combat Vehicles used to support maritime escape pods, but this was changed in errata: https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,16441.msg521208.html#msg521208. Why was this change made?
