Have you noticed that the German tribesmen at the beginning of Gladiator are chanting the Zulu battle chants from the movie Zulu?

Germanic Zulus: now that's scary!

My favs match up pretty closely with Mr Pardoe's; definately recommend Gary Cooper in Sergeant York.

I would add Tears of the Sun.

Heat
Layer Cake
Copland

and The Wire - not a movie but easily the best (english language) police show.

and The Wire - not a movie but easily the best (english language) police show.

I'll second The Wire, some good work by David Simon. Some other movies you should consider include:

Touch of Evil - Orson Wells, need I say more?
City of God -  Good vs. Evil in Rio.
Once Upon a Time in America - the ~4 hr epic was Sergio Leone's last film.
The car chase trio: Bullitt, The Seven Ups and The French Connection.
The Big Sleep - Hawks, Faulkner, Bogart and Bacall with a complex plot.
Traffic - The excellent cast and plot earned it 4 Oscars.
Shadow of a Doubt - One of Hitchcock's favorites, for good reason
Lucky Number Slevin - nice plot twists.
Mean Streets - early De Niro and Scorsese
Frenzy - More Hitchcock
Mystic River - Eastwood is behind the camera, in this case of mistaken blame.

You should watch more older movies, most on your list are less than 15 years old.
Why does everyone "Fire at Will"? Is he really that bad of a person? And what did he do to make everyone want to shoot him?

If a group of necrophiliacs met a group of zombies, who would do the chasing?

I should have added a couple of my Hitchcock films!  Geez.  I also do pop in Citizen Kane from time to time (more rare as the years pass)

Guys thanks for the suggestions!

The Score - deNiro and Edward Norton

It's ok, but I'd rank Thief, with James Caan and Jack Warden higher. It's the oldest film I've found where a burning bar/oxygen lance was used.

PS: And Willie Nelson appears in it.

Sweet.

I'm not interested in getting into more mini games, but I'm strongly considering making an exception for this one when it finally comes out.
