(Answered) Infantry platoon weight and carrier tonnage
« on: 23 January 2019, 07:05:45 »
A quick question, but how does the infantry unit weights listed in Total Warfare and Tech Manual actually map to the weights given for vehicle Infantry Bay/Infantry Compartments for purposes of calculating how large a Bay/Compartment needs to be to actually carry a given type of infantry squad?   I had been told previously that one squad of infantry needs and Infantry Bay/Compartment of 1 ton to carry it.   When I try to crunch those numbers through the rules listed, it tends to fall apart.   When designing an Infantry APC, therefore, is there a standardized weight allowance that ignores the infantry type carried or do the infantry types need to be taken into account when designing the vehicle to begin with?

The weights of infantry platoons can be found on page 213, TW.

As you note, the actual mass when you use the construction system may differ.  The rules starting on page 223 are for ease of play, but you are welcome to add any additional degree of detail to your own games.
