Neurohelmet art - suggestions?
« on: 20 October 2014, 21:39:50 »
So, I'm finally getting around to putting a MechWarrior costume together, and have just purchased a military surplus combat vehicle helmet to serve as my neurohelmet. I think we all know that pilots decorating their helmets isn't unheard of, and since my character's backstory is that his neurohelmet has been passed down through the family since the days of the Star League, I wanted to give that a try.

It's gonna be tough, though. I have to compress three centuries (more or less) of custom helmet decorations, combined with wear and tear on the decorations, into about six months of work so I can be ready for Comicpalooza. So I'm putting the question to you guys.

What sort of paint should I buy (Kevlar helmet, btw), and how would you guys add the weathering so there's hints of the old stuff when you look closely?

In addition, how would you personally decorate a neurohelmet?
