MWO: Dervish
« on: 06 March 2019, 14:12:12 »
Well folks, here is the announcement if you guessed right:

https://mwomercs.com/news/2019/03/2245-warrior-spirit-dervish-preorder-here

Looks like a nice Mech, but wish it had come earlier in MWO's life cycle.  Great addition when ported over to HBS' BattleTech game!

Thoughts?

I did not see that coming. I have to wonder if it wasn't chosesn for MW5 more than anything else.

Can't think of any other reason. I'm glad we're not so heavy this time, glad another 'Mech from The List is done, glad the Hellspawn didn't kill its chances after all, glad another 'Mech to look forward too in MW5 and possible the HBS game, but...

MWO stat wise it so similar. I don't hope for quirk changes as that's a path to hopes being crushed, but its so similar in variants. And high end mediums is such a filled place. Need more lights!

Those arm paddles look way heavier than the three tons of weaponry and ammo inside them would suggest. That said, I really want to see that get added to the next HBS Battletech DLC.

On the upside, the modders of HBS BT have been doing a pretty good job ripping them from MWO.

It's MWO, so they need to leave room for players to cram way more weapons into them than they're meant to hold.  For example, the fictional 7P variant that they made for their game fits 30 tubes of MRMs in each arm, and since the weapon models fit in modularly, the arms need to be big enough to fit the largest intended weapon systems.

Sold!

After how the Warhammer IIc turned out in game...I was so close to purchasing my first clan pack with the Rifleman IIc.

But I'm not a clanner so I thought, lets wait and see what March offers for a mech pack.

Best looking 'mech in a while by me. I like those missile bay doors!

Now to see how the alternate geometries disappoint me.

Only the arms make me wonder, like the already mentioned 7P paddles are going to be huge... or are they going to be bicep placed like the Archer's arm missiles?

The latter is the worse of the two.

7P's paddles are stupidly big because MWO allowed for MRMs to be mounted in the arms.

I think stupid have lasers in chest taking up all the room.  What a waste, but it good if you need aim your arms at someone below you or something.
MRMs are far more useful in MWO than in real Battletech (prior to Apollo being made more accessible)
