What does Tukayyid mean? How did the world get the name?

It’s a town in southern Iraq as far as I can tell

https://geographic.org/geographic_names/name.php?uni=-4397788&fid=3200&c=iraq

Beat me to it.

IRL Tukayyid appears to be the name of a smaller city/town in Muthanna, Iraq. West of Kuwait City, south of As Samawah.

Given the planet's history as being settled by the Azami Muslims, it makes sense.

TOOK-<hiccup!>-yid

Took rhymes with puke. Took-a-yid.  Not saying I remotely have a clue, that’s just the way I’ve been saying it!

I've always pronounced it "Tookey-id". I've also always assumed that pronunciation is wrong, but such is life.

I'll ask one of my Iraqi interpreters (I own a language service company) I'll let you all know. Unless somebody above knows definitively. Tuke-ahh-yid sounds most likely to me. I don't speak Arabic however. I don't speak much of anything except English (and Spanish very poorly)
edited: yid not yeed. Need to think about what I am typing phonetically.

توكاييد: assuming this is the correct spelling in Arabic it would be pronounced TOO-kaw-yeed, though you could also get away with pronouncing it TOO-kaw-yid.

Given the planet's history as being settled by the Azami Muslims, it makes sense.
The weirdest thing about that is that it apparently also had a lot of folks who came from western Washington, given the town names.
