You might want to try this trick that model railroaders use for track ballast.

I ordered one of these today from IWM. Does it come with the shields or is that going to be something I'm going to have to scratchbuild?
I don't set an example for others. I make examples of them.

I didn't get a shield with mine, so it going be scratch work unless they come up with something.  Picture of the Atlas III matches what i got though.

I was stupid, it did come with shields.  I didn't think too much of it when i assmbled them.   Legs had knee pads, they don't cound as shields, but arms are shields but there similar to the knee pads from my perception without looking at the TRO itself.

I was surprised the TRO made them shields.  Thought for sure they'd be modular armor.

I originally thought i read in WizKids original write up that Mech itself was suppose to be modular or have some Omnipod capacities like a OmniMech.

Working on one currently for a 'project  >:D' and I love the look of the beasty. During a game this last weekend my fiance' used the paired streak 20/ quad HML variant with IJJ....oh crap was that thing nasty. Like an oversized Catapult that JUST WOULD NOT DIE!  :o She made me promise to mod her one now...

And FYI, it comes in 17 pieces so there is really no limit to posability.  O0

Atlas III.

(checks Sarna) Erp...ok, my bad. This was a custom she built in skunk-works then.

She named it Atlas III, lol (she normally runs a modified AS7-D-H2 so....)

Damn, I've created a monster...  ;D

Yeah, I lucked out really. Her first game I talked her into playing she took a Fafnir and HC'ed my near pristine Summoner needing 12's to hit in the first place.  :o The really scary thing is she has a habit of pulling victory from the jaws of defeat on a regular basis. Last game we played she had a modified Atlas III that was missing a leg, took 4 pilot hits and went unconcious. After waking up after 2 rounds of being unconcious she fires her only remaining medium laser and floating crits the Peregrine that was about to stomp on her head. 2 tac's to the Gyro... and the stuff she does with JJ's is Mechwarrior Joanna worthy.  ;D

Mine's just terrifying. Nothing really fancy in terms of tactics or gunnery aside from a distinct love of using Locusts(-1Vs only, she won't touch any others) to knock down larger 'mechs using kicks. Took down an Archangel that way, with only a Jenner as a partner.

What's really scary is her ability to read the other players perfectly and know exactly what they'll do. You know that line about no plan surviving contact with the enemy? Hers do. :o

...and next, she wants to try artillery. We're gonna die.

I'm lucky, in that Stina won't touch Clantech. She also won't go for most things more advanced than intro tech. (Basically, if there's rules more complex than intro tech, she's probably not a fan of it.) Finally, she doesn't like hovers, and won't use missiles.

Despite all that, she'll still kick anyone's ass. The only time I ever saw her on the verge of losing a game, the game's venue caught fire.

Now that's a tactic I've got to try sometime!  It'll have to wait until my group plays somewhere other than my apartment though.

...and next, she wants to try artillery. We're gonna die.
If this happens, I'll go in the complete opposite spectrum of my usual tactics.
I'll LAM swarm for one game.
Like little zerglings they'll sacrifice themselves against the artillery.

Also I like how all those pieces look on the Atlas III.
If I didn't already have a horrible back log of mini work, I'd probably pick up two.

The assembly isn't actually terribly difficult. All the pieces fit very nice and snug together and the onlt points that NEED to be pinnes are the hips and shoulders. Everything else has ample surface area for scoring and regular super glue to bond.

Assembly wasn't bad for mine, either.  No pinning needed (not that I can pin anyhow).  Had to adjust the angle of the hip pads/plates to match the bend of the legs more closely, but that was easily done by hand.

My gripe on pose-ability is that I couldn't find a way to get the left arm turned across the torso in a shielding fashion.  The way the forearm fits the upper arm prevents it- you'd have to file away a large portion of the upper arm to get room to twist the forearm in that direction.  Significant work on the left shoulder joint might make it possible, but I didn't want to risk ruining it to try.

Perhaps sawing/separating the upper arm from the elbow joint, twisting, and then re-pinning?  A bit beyond me to try for now.

<shrug> I've had too many "just glued" miniatures (particularly BT miniatures) come apart during normal handling over the years.  I pin everything these days.  Feet to base, legs to feet, hips to legs, arms to torso, etc., etc., etc.   8)
