So, this is most of my unseen collection. I have a couple others here that I'm working on, and one that you've all seen enough of that I don't need to include it. However, as I finish these, this particular photo will be updated.

I've put enough work into painting and assembling these that I think it would be a crying shame if they were removed from the official universe. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Enjoy.

They will never be removed, they will simple have 'different variants' in the books from what I understand. I agree it is a shame that we can't see the old artwork in any official capacity of any new minis but us fans simple must manage the best we can until HG finally give up the ghost.

Excellent collection by the way :)

You do realize you can get little Japanese Macross miniatures and just repaint them?  Unfortunately I'm kind of ham-handed and so usually just touch them up a bit and remove obvious insignia, etc.

I know. But, until the Robotech Battles thing is said and done, the japanese stuff is a little outside my reach at the moment.

And, besides, there's something rather iconic about the Ral Partha figures, if not their poses, that makes them significantly different from the Macross/Robotech units.

I see your metal Marauder is missing an arm; mine was missing the upper half of the left arm (It disappeared somewhere) and I actually had to sculpt a new one...

So what's this about Robotech Battles?

I've been playing a long time, but I don't care if the Unseen versions go away.  Most of them were rather plain and boring in both art and mini, and the Reseen fit more into the aesthetic of Battletech.

Doesn't mean I'll get rid of my old Marauder, but I have no attachment to any of the Unseen.

What he said and I've been around the game since 1991 when you could still Unseen minis in the store. I simply don't care for the 'borrowed' art as it shows a lack of originality and frugality on FASA's part.

The Unseen are just that, the Unseen, theres no reason to retcon them away. Besides there are so many other designs other than Unseen from the Star League period theres no real reason to show them anymore or if needed then maybe in silhoutte.
I don't set an example for others. I make examples of them.

A new table top game that's currently in the play test phase;

Not a Robotech fan outside of the mecha designs, hope it works out for that reason alone but it looks as if HG hates all game companies evenly; even the ones that WANT to give them money ;D

Unseen won't truly go away as long as the fans remind people they are still here, we might get new art for the needs of the Historical books (as long it's by a good artist, no complaints) but the original art and minis will still be passed along and kept alive by fans like us.

It was also part of the trend back in the 80s though - grab as many different Japanese franchises as you can, mush them together, and sell toys or VHS tapes.  It worked for Voltron, it worked for Transformers, and it worked for Robotech (both before and after HG.)  Heck, in the 90s, it worked in a major way for Power Rangers.

Yes, it is missing its arm, and the dorsal gun. The person I got it from had all the parts at one point, but somehow those two got separated. While I will be the first to know if he ever finds them, since he has moved, I doubt that will happen.

I think the proper definition for this era of battletech minis is the true-seen minis. Pure nostalgic robotic awesomeness.

Meh, I have lots of unseen but can't wait until CGL comes up with a 'primitive Shadowhawk-esque' solution to the Unseen.  The Unseen are classic and nostalgic and blah blah blah...but not having models available for 4SW era Unseen 'mechs is a pain in the posterior and having to explain the entire situation to new players is long-winded and over-complicated.  Retcon away, I'll still enjoy my old models.

I have some unseens but I have no real attachment for them, my plan for this year is to sell them. But if that somehow doesn't work out I just may throw them in the smelter.

I've got some unseens, but I'm still gonna use 'em in play -- CGL most certainly would not raid my house to take 'em away. Seriously, if they retcon the designs, outside of a little weeping from nostalgia, it is not any skin off my nose. (Unless they use some of the uglier Phoenix redesigns -- I can live with the Locust, Griffin and Warhammer, and absolutely LOVE the Battlemaster, but the others? Me no gusta.)
