Are these guys descended from the 1st Knights of the Inner Sphere?  It looks like the scheme is identical.

Looks exactly like what was described in FM:85...

(Hint: The Republic uses a lot of gold.)

When you just have to stand out on the Battlefield, bright white and gold is the way to go.
I don't set an example for others. I make examples of them.

Actually, bright white and PINK is the way to go,

...but gold is good too.

Oooh, that's a nice one.

Principes are certainly a Republic unit though, they're the Regular, mid-strength units of the regular Republic military.  At least they got that part right from the Roman units they're inspired by.  "Triarii" being the least experienced units is a 180 from the old names. :P

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

Saw this up the other day when I was at IWM.

Reminds me a lot of the KotIS as mentioned but also the old C* use of white w/ a big gold emblem.

When does the olive green/burgundy scheme gain in popularity?  Is that considered canon?

I thought the Republic of the Sphere forces painted their mechs in Hubris with highlights of Ineptitude and Shame?
We hear that there are tumults and riots in Rome, and that voices are raised concerning the army and the quality of our soldiers. Make haste to reassure us that you love and support us as we love and support you, for if we find that we have left our bones to bleach in these sands in vain, then beware the fury of the legions.

Yeah, but they also use GW paints. The schemes listed in FM:85 are the translations to more common names.

I'm so glad their finally getting the units on Camospecs!  I like looking at actual figs verses the description.

One Question: How come the Republic of the Sphere's insigna isn't on faction page?

Much like a large number of unit logos, it simply hasn't been transposed into the format we use....yet.
