Alpha Strike Intro Set

Hi all,

So CBT was my first tabletop game.  I haven't played much in the past few years due to life changes and a newborn.  I recently saw Alpha Strike which was described as quick play which sparked my interest (I need quicker games due to lack of time from the kid).  I also saw pictures on dakka about mwo/retro style unseens!  I bought the combo pack pdf (AS, AS:C, and Mercs beta).  I also bought a set of print/play unit cards (found out they were print to order, not pdf style).

I am assuming I am getting the old gencon style cards (which is great for collecting purposes).  I have seen many places putting up pre-orders for a unit card set 1, unit card set 2, and the AS: Intro box.  As I know physical releases seem slow these days, is it worth pre-ordering these or waiting?  Anyone know anything about the release of these sets or any other upcoming releases for AS? 

I have a plethora of mechs and would like to use each one.  I have seen the online database but prefer professional full color cards to print and play b/w.

An alpha strike boxed set is going to be a while.  But the rumor is (as of now) that when it does finally come out, it'll include a set of Clan omnis.  I'm not sure that you even can preorder the box set... if something like amazon is taking pre-orders I'd hold off at least until CGL has formalized their plans on that.

We do have Combat Manuals coming in the pipeline.  Mercs is still in Beta as you saw, and can view the input thus far here (or add your own!)

After CM: Mercs is made into a final product, the next few that are announced are Steiner, Kurita, and Davion.  One would presume more are going to follow, but they haven't been announced yet.

Edit: You should probably check your printed cards against the MUL.  Alpha Strike had the PV system overhauled since the ealiest cards were printed.  For that matter, make sure you download the latest errata document as well.

A good rule of thumb: If you see a preorder, close the window. The site you're on has no clue what's going on.
