In my defense, it did take me a little bit of strategizing and a hefty bit of luck. Oh, and fuzzy slippers for the Locusts.

Well... twice.  Which is twice more than normal for non-Hellbie Dice references.

Alas, poor General deSummersville, who took to the field with his new fire support machine, only to discover all too late that there was not one single LRM on the Bane.  Had he just followed his Lyran dicta and ordered the 3...

Well I attempted to prevent a resonance cascade, but damn it all! Someone went and made it anyway! And I was sure chucking all data on the Woodsman onto Xen was a surefire way to never have to hear about it again.

ALIRGHT YOU GUYS, BACK TO THE SUBJECT.

Let me ask you an interesting question. 100 tonner with jump jets. Good idea or bad idea? Okay, I bet most of you are gonna say that it depends on what the situation is. Lets say a sniper role. And a brawling role while I'm at it.

Personally, I find anything with less than a jump of 5 to be questionable at best.  Yes, sometimes a jump of 4 will save your butt, but not as often as more weapons or armor.  Jump of 3 is even more questionable.

Just a quick side tip. 100 tonners can only take 3 normal jump jets. However, you can do more with improved jump jets. I don't know the max amount though.

Considering that:
--Turning takes up 1 MP
--'Mechs can't move through enemy 'Mechs
--Moving into a hex with enemy ground vehicles stops your movement

Jump Jets on 3/5 assault 'Mechs are probably one of the only good ways of dealing with flankers.  Except for lancemates.  You really should just get lancemates for that.

Emperor, Highlander, Pillager, Marauder II, Legacy...Those 'Mechs at least have the option of finding nearby cover should they be pressured too much by cavalry 'Mechs.  Of course, this implies that they're still standing at the beginning of the turn they have to get away....

Unless it has a 400 rated engine, then it can have a 4/6/4 movement. Max improved jump jets is equal to the running speed.

Never underestimate the utility of jump jets on a 3/5 mech. It's saved my bacon more than once on the Supernova, Turkina, and Highlander IIC.

Just a quick side tip.  Don't talk down to others like that unless you've memorized the entirety of the facts in question, and know exactly where to look it up in a book.  Which it seems you have not done.

100-ton 'Mechs can take any number of Standard Jump Jets, as long as the number of Standard Jump Jets do not exceed their Walking MP, which is taken from their engine rating.  Since they are 100-ton 'Mechs, that engine rating can be 100 (unlikely), 200, 300, 400, or 500 (REALLY unlikely).  This translates into 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 Walking MP.  Oh, and by the way, Standard Jump Jets on 100-ton 'Mechs are 2 tons each, meaning 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 tons for the entire JJ array.

Improved Jump Jets weigh twice as much and take up twice the number of critical spaces.  The upside is that you can take as many as your 'Mech's Running MP, and they produce half as much heat in flight, to a minimum of 3.

Look up the Xanthos 5O variant.  It is an assault 'Mech lance's nightmare.

I have a custom Dire Wolf somewhere that I am not allowed to use in friendly games in my group that has 5 IJJ...

and then I have my Marauder II-C...Clan Tech Marauder II, with Partial Wings, 5 Jump Jets, and weapons. I have been told
by my group that if I ever try to field it, there will be a conversation out back by the dumpsters....(I do not think they would
ACTUALLY resort to violence...but, considering there are some very painful memories of me doing hit and run with a Blood
Kite...I can see their point that it would just NOT be fair)
