Meta: This is something that I had in mind for a while now. a Improved variant of the Laser Pulse module. While not as good as a pure pulse laser, it is good enough for periphery states in the 32nd century. I'll be updating this post when I got ideas for the improved laser pulse module.

Improved Laser Pulser Module:
Heat: +4
Damage: +2
To-hit: -2

Gameplay rules: One a miss the Improved laser pulse module in pulse mode does not generate heat and does not fire. On a Roll of a 2 the Improved pulse module shuts down for 1 turn and cannot be used until the turn after the shutdown. Lasers equipped with it can fire normally if the pulse module is shut down or critically hit.

Construction Rules: a Improved LAser pulse Module weighs two tons and takes up two crits. The moudle must be attached to either a standard or ER Lasers of Inner Sphere Technology Base. An Improved Laser Pulse Module increases the Battle Value of the base laser by BV*1.5. An improved Laser pulse Module costs 250,000 C-bills.

Lore: Developed in the Periphery to make up for the lower quantites of pulse and X-pulse lasers, the improved laser pulse module is based upon prototypes from the republic eras. Devised as a way to keep up with the rest of the inner sphere powers and clan powers. However it did cause slight spike in the heat generated and made them weigh about as much as pulse lasers when attached. In some cases weighing more. However this is small price to pay for an increase in both damage and accuracy.

That is... actually quite interesting. No heats for a miss is somewhat weird, but consider the hefty additional heat of the equipment it would be acceptable. It could be explained that stopped to shoot earlier after the aim was gone wrong and did not generates too much heats, so it isn't ridiculous that much either. Other than that it's more like the stable version of the standard laser pulse module. Although it gets +2 damage but again, it requires +4 heat and it costs even more weight and size, while the module's size is not changed at all regardless of the size and class of the laser.

If it got a critical on the module then it just got disabled, rather than explodes as the standard laser pulse module, right? And it doesn't harm the laser it was attached as well?

And although obvious but, it's not compatible with the standard laser pulse module so a laser can be attached by either standard or improved but not both, right?

Also apart the difference it will follows the same traits with the standard module, such as can only added to a single laser weapon and also each laser weapon can only have up to one of those, non-heat tracking units have to also mounts extra heat sink for 4 more heat, not considerd as the separate component with the laser it was attached when count the numbers of the weapon mount, DOES counts for the weight of the weapon for the targeting computer(the standard laser pulse module does as well, unlike many other weapon attachment type of equipments), right?

Yes it is incompatible with the Standard variant of the LPM, On a Crit the ILPM is disabled but the laser can operate normally and yes the ILPM like the standard version counts towards the Targeting Computer's total weight. I can confirm on non-heat tracking units like vehicles extra heat sinks are required for using the ILPM.
