Yay, my curse continues - from the Exiled Wolves to the Nova Cats to Wolf's Dragoons to the Republic, my factions never survive.

I'm rooting for Ghost Bear so they probably don't get to be ilClan.

I'm only working off of the pre-Brent plans here, but if the new books pan out anything like the old ilClan plans...heh.

Sounds similar to a guy in my group who played as the Smoke Jaguars, the Blood Spirits, and finally the 2nd Sword of Light regiment of House Kurita. I didn't have the heart to tell him about them during the Jihad.

I'm glad it's getting closer to release. But summer feels far away. I'm pretty exhausted. Need a fix. Hope something comes out soon.

Psh, since when was Battletech ever that grounded in realism?

We've let this run but at this point take the silliness to the MechWarrior Hall. Back onto "Shattered Sphere".

Oy, "Shattered Fortress".

Not a bad sourcebook, updating the universe to the edge of the FedCom Civil War. But I think you meant "Shattered Fortress," which now that I think about it is kind of a clunky name.

Well ‘fortress republic’ was already a thing, so it at least makes sense. I don’t personally find it any more clunky than most of the rather prosaic book names this franchise has produced. Perhaps a bit less descriptive than ‘Field Manual: 3150’, but I don’t mind it.

I have to wonder does Shattered Sphere refer to the RotS or to the Inner Sphere itself? And if the later, will the sphere be shattered by whatever hyperspace nonsense is going on preventing travel between certain areas?

Shattered Sphere was the name of a FASA sourcebook. Shattered Fortress is the name of the upcoming CGL sourcebook.

*Headdesk* but I see I'm not the only one. And an event that throws hyperspace fault lines across the IS that prevent travel, that may or may not respect national boarders, would be a very interesting setup, a great way to churn factions and spark a bunch of new wars when the faults receded.

I would love to see the aftereffects of the Fortress cause a total breakdown in transportation across the Inner Sphere. That would be an awesome excuse for a proper time jump, as the handwavium dissipates and empires start to form again.

Not what I was envisioning. I was thinking that broke the Inner Sphere into chunks to size of a province, but the extent of these chunks doesn't respect existing borders, so, for example, you have one that included New Syrtis, but it wouldn't include all of the Taygeta Operational Area, however it might include chunks of the CC and TC. Now this effect covers the Inner Sphere, but not all of it, there are a few sections of it not covered and in reverse there are a few sections of the Periphery covered as well, probably most importantly the Clan Homeworlds.

And sometime before 3250 whatever was causing this effect stops, how does everyone react? Remember that there are now likely several copies of each IS faction, how do the various FS factions react to one another?

Either a copy will think that they are the most qualified to lead or they have grown so independent that they see no need for joining up.

I've grown increasingly numb to caring about IlClan and any future of the game. I've been playing since summer of '86 or so and probably should have laid down when the Blood Spirits got smashed. Sorry guys, it just doesn't excite me anymore.
