Proxy Von Luckner, and proxy Elementals
« on: 03 April 2020, 20:48:56 »
So, as part of using the time productively, I'm looking at things I have which can be used to better purposes.

First, a Sktrex 1:200 scale Centurion, which I think could be mistaken for a local variant Von Luckner.

Would either shorten & bulk out, or replace, the 120mm gun with an AC-20 barrel, and move the turret's SRM onto the searchlight mount. Thoughts?

And ... I'm just about out of DA Elementals. The old IWM ones are too skinny, and I don't have the newer casts. But I do have a few dozen DA Undines. With a little work ...

Probably should think about some manageable way to bulk up the missile shoulder mounts, but ... workable, I think. And would serve for Elemental IIs. Here it is with the original (and IMHO the best) ...

Any ideas on how to practically build up the shoulders appreciated!

I think your Von Luckner works well.  You may not need to wait long for the Kickstarter elementals.

Proxy Von Luckner sounds like a holovid star name, and not the respectable kind of holovid either... :P

Nice tank BTW!

I have a thing of cotton swabs that have hollow plastic tubing . . . I cut off the ends and then I have a very narrow & strong tube for use in terrain building.  I have also used it as a muzzle brake on a toothpick that was a field gun barrel.  I am thinking about using it over a IWM Cauldron Born B?'s long thing laser or gun tubes- they are just ASKING to get bent.  Something like that might work to go over the cut down tank cannon to give it thickness and a 'open' bore.

As for the Undines . . . I would say chop off what missiles they have, take spare MWDA SRM4 missile packs . . . cut off the front of the cells with the missile stubs, trim them until each missile is poking out of its own 'box' and place it on the space above the shoulder where you cut off the Undine missile/torp location.  Should boost it a bit higher and get a more visible missile.  The remaining bits of the SRM box from the MWDA mini can be used on terrain as AC boxes, power junctions or other detail on building . . . or with a bit more carving turned into crates for a objective marker.

The little 4 SRM4 boxes at the front would be sized right I think, but I am not home to size them up.

That tank looks like it'd make a great base for a Manticore II...

Looks more like a Chieftain than a Centurion to me, but it does make a good Von Luckner!
"That's Lieutenant Faceplant to you, Corporal!"

Things that I have learnt through clicking too fast on 'Move Done' on MegaMek: Double-check the CF of the building before jumping onto it, check artillery arrival times before standing in the neighbouring hex, and don't run across your own minefield.

"Hmm, I wonder if I can turn this into a MM map."
