Title: Miniature of the Fortnight #49: Warhammer
Post by: Xiwo Xerase on 16 August 2018, 19:15:28
"I want to be... your Warhammer." -- Some tribute pop song after 2515

The Warhammer is one of the classic iconic 'Mechs for BattleTech, dating back to Battledroids, where it all began.  It suffered a brief hiatus as one of the Unseen but came back as one of the Reseen.  Now we're waiting for a Classics sculpt to be released.  To learn more about using it in game, see its 'Mech of the Week article (https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,41980.0.html).

Here's the list of sculpts I am aware of:
If you have any Warhammer miniatures painted, Unseen or Reseen (or, if you're reading this in the future, Classic), please post them.  We'd love to see them!

Thank you for reading and a special thank you to those of you who post.

Our next two fortnights will be:

I have two of the WHM-4L/9S.  The first one is one of the first minis I painted when I got back into the hobby three years ago.  Tried to copy the color scheme of the Warhammer on the old box set.  The second one I painted for my stepson's 'Halo Division' mercenary company.

This happens to be my favorite design. Not only did it catch my attention on the front of the 2nd ed box, but it looked even better in black and white in the rulebook and colorized on the back of the 2nd ed box.

And, then it had twin PPCs, one of the hardest hitting guns in the game.

I've collected and made Warhammers across the scales, complete with the 1/72 scale, 1/144 scale, stock vintage Ral Partha, Robotech RPG Tactics, and kitbashes for BattleForce Scale (1/500) and Map Scale (1/900ish).

Vintage BattleTech Warhammer in generic Team Tan.

Kitbashed BattleForce Scale Whammy.

Map Scale version. (Note: the base has been painted black with brown around the edge.)

For fun, my favorite Character's first ride.

And, finally, the RPG Tactics Tomahawk in actuality, launching missiles. I call this the BattleAxe variant. Remember that the Hammer Hands and Warhammer got their start due to the BattleAxe, and the Whammy had a very Strong resemblance to the Davion RnD failure.

The Warhammer has long been a favorite of mine, and while waiting for the HG v CGL lawsuit to blow over I decided to 3D model my own classic Warhammer as a school project. It's not so mini though, coming in at about a foot tall, or 1/35(ish) scale!

I don't have an individual shot of this guy but next is my Wolf's Dragoons Epsilon Company Warhammer 7a:

He was painted up to replace this old Plastic Warhammer that was sold for a charity auction:

This is the repurposed and modded 1/144 scale Tomahawk. It's a Warhammer.

Modded the legs with some ball joints from other cheap 1/144 scale Gundam kits at the hip and knee for some poseability.

Next to some 1/144 Gundam models for reference.

Here are a couple of mine. First, a WHM-8K Ryuken-ni, then a slightly larger unseen out of Lego. Fully actuated at Shoulders, upper arms, lower arms, hips, upper legs, and feet.

My take on a generic Regulan Hussars scheme (I posted this along with others like it in the earlier Marik Dump) along with a 4th Lyran Regulars Warhammer.

Mixed bag here, mostly Kuritan, Davion and 1 Steiner.

From left to right: 8D, 6K, 9D, 9S, and a 8K.

The 6K was modified to use King Crab legs to represent the PPCs instead of the bulkier stock ones.

New Robotech RPG Tactics mini done up in a National Guard scheme, of sorts.

The direction I'm taking my RPG Tactics dedicated RDF minis.

Here is my modified Warhammer 8K. I added some dragonfly lasers to give it a old Warhammer config vibe.

Hot damn!  I did forget one.

Lyran Guards Warhammer made from a repurposed Robotech RPG Tactics figure.

Here is a old, old painted miniature. The unseen is gorgeous. The Battledroids sculpt lacks a ton of details. On the other hand, it is easier to repose thanks to the separate legs.
BTW, the new "Classic" sculpt is also beautiful and has a lot of details. The future looks bright.

Sadly all of these are 3rd edition plastic minis, making them really hard to properly clean up or look nice. There's a bit of a progression from right to left as I got a little better and learned to repose arms (the classic warhammer sculpt looks SO much better with the arms canted outwards)

From left to right
-my mercenary command (paintscheme shamelessly stolen from the 1st robinson rangers)

-Davion Heavy Guards (Leftenant Gen. Joseph Laidlaw's mech)

-Wolfs Dragoons Alpha Regiment, 1st Battalion, 4th Provisional Company (Natasha Kerensky's mech)

-1st Regulan Hussars, "Rolling Thunder" company (1-3rd edition poster mech)
