I have to say, that the pages just kept turning. Although a 48-pg story is not that short, the pages turned too fast for me. #P
The plot is very interesting and I second Midnightsun in finding the Reunification War period more and more attractiv. Just have to buy the sourcebook in DTF now....

 [applause]

This is the kind of thing I want from BattleCorps!

Well written, gritty, emotive and a load of little nuggets of info about the universe like colour schemes of units etc.  [rockon]

i have to say i liked this story a lot. Viola seems like a very tragic character IMO, and though you want to hate her for being ridiculously stupid (she re-wrote the book on leap before you look) and essentially executing some of her soldiers, i also can't help but feel sorry for her, and in a small way sympathize with her, though perhaps not encouraging such radical actions.

i also ended up liking heinrich a bit. i still see him as the worst kind of yes man, but he was put in one heck of a tough situation. i also wish i could have seen more about lopes, he has the making of a cool character, though i do understand he wasn't intended to be anything more than peripheral.

also, nothing wrong with the commander of the tamar tigers piloting a commando, that is friggin awesome!
"Warriors, not war machines, are the backbone of the Hell's Horses. While others worship the BattleMech as the ultimate weapon, the men and women of this Clan see even this awesome piece of technology as the tool it is. We have held to this philosophy since the days of our first Khan, who knew that the value of the common soldier far outstripped the brute force of the BattleMech. It is one reason our Clan possesses fewer mechs than most, and has led many to underestimate our fierceness and courage. Our survival against all challengers when others have fallen proves the folly of such arrogance, and testifies to the wisdom of our founders."

Though based on relatively well known facts, I've liked how has come this one. Thankfully I didn't remember the full details from the Steiner SB, nor read yet my copy of the Reunification War SB, so it could keep a thrilling interest up until the end.

My only 'but' is having a story in which the narration goes back and forth published as a multi-part release. It doesn't helps to follow the action, though I suppose one can ever wait until it's complete.
