The Battle for Terra - Fan Expo 2012 - Post Game
« on: 29 August 2012, 20:18:03 »
In 2766, decades of careful planning and manipulation finally culminated when Stefan Amaris wiped out the entire Cameron dynasty in a bloody coup. Rallying the might of the SLDF behind him, General Aleksandr Kerensky turned his full fury against the Usurper’s “Empire,” launching one of the greatest military campaigns in Inner Sphere history.
13 hard fought years later the SLDF has made the final push against Amaris’s last bastion, Terra. Join Generals Kerensky and DeChavilier in their final battle to end the tyrannical rule of Stefan Amaris over the Star League!

This game took place at Fan Expo in Toronto, Ontario on August 25, 2012

The SLDF was tasked with escorting General Kerensky to the Imperial Palace Gates where he would apprehend Stephen Amaris. The Imperial Palace was protected by two lances of Amaris Guards as well as numerous automated turrets located on the Palace as well as around the grounds.

SLDF deployment

End of turn 1, surprise RWR reinforcements arrive in the midst of SLDF lines.

General DeChavilier is besieged by RWR forces.

RWR on the move to intercept the SLDF. One automated turret destroyed by the SLDF

General DeChavilier's lance mates join the battle.

General DeChavilier delivers a successful push attack causing the Rampage to displace it's teammate Rampage off the board.

General DeChavilier's Atlas finally sumcombs to the mass fire that has been directed at it for the first 4 turns of the game.

The RWR assault lance moves in on General Kerensky.

Both force exchange lots of fire.

RWR Banshee goes up in flames

SLDF forces reach the half way point of the Palace grounds, with in reach of the automated turrets located on the Palace walls.

The SLDF Guillotine and RWR Awesome duel to death.

The tide begins to shift in the RWR favor, several SLDF forces fall due to damage. The RWR Emperor dies while swimming with the sharks!

General Kerensky having stayed well back of the fight moves up to assist his lance, taking down the RWR Crockett.

The SLDF Nightstar and Crab are both down with missing legs. They stay in the fight using their long range weaponry to destroy more the turrets on the walls. The SLDF Wolverine II goes down.

RWR forces finish off the Nightstar and Crab.

RWR forces move in on General Kerensky the remaining SLDF force due their best to intervine. Taking down the Phoenix while Kerensky knock the Striker down.

But it's too late, General Kerensky's Orion goes boom!

History is rewritten, both Kerensky and DeChavilier die in this battle and Amaris continues his rule of the Terran Hegemony

We had a great turn out, thanks to everyone that came out!

Beautiful man. Just beautiful

Great table,Lovely forces and a fun right up

Gotta say I even love the shark. I have a few toys I've collected with the Ghost bears in mind. I might use them as terrain some evening.

Only gripe I have is the pushing a unit off the table.
Not a big fan of the tactic. Even in Tourney games. I just find it a hollow kill. I would have expected it off the RWR not the SLDF
But other than that.  O0

Fantastic paint jobs! There is something attractive about your SLDF green that I can't say I've ever seen executed so well.

I love the shark in the pond and fire/smoke markers. How many cf was the shark worth?  :D

Just one question: I notice you had little strips of paper for each mech, what were those used for?

Those are firing chits. We use them in our games so peope can't change targets when and if a target is destroyed. You can print them off in SSW.

I love how the mechs are all painted for the proper forces. Is that a canon RWR paint scheme?

Close enough for the GenCon big game ;)
