Fist Full of C-Bills - OOC Thread - Recruitment Closed
« on: 30 December 2012, 15:55:13 »
A Fist Full if C-Bills (FFOCB) is going to be a simple online RP game. Each player takes on the role of a member of the unit to be formed. I'm looking for a minimum of 8 players or i'll consider it impractical to move forward.

Read here for background

There is scope, initially I'm looking for a company scale unit consisting of a mix of MechWarriors, tankers, infantry, technical support or associated hangers on. The unit will be formed from those local warriors on Fallon II who i see as being predominantly inheritors of family 'Mechs, retired local warriors with their own equipment won in battle.

The infantry platoon is spoken for, as is the Dropship. I need those to be GM controlled for reasons of story but everything else is open as it stands.

Stainless Chrome - Molly Steele - GM
"Infantry" Unit - "Mutt" Rabagliati - GM
TBC - TBC - Latro
TBC - TBC - Zeitgeist
DigLord? - Digger? - Worktroll
TBC - TBC - shrapnel
TBC - TBC - Decoy
TBC - TBC - Stormcrow
TBC - TBC - ColonelCody
TBC - TBC - Dave Talley

Now... before you all start getting excited about the prospect of joining in, a few little comments.

Please do not post in the IC thread until you've at least said hello here and given me chance to review your ideas.

1) I am looking for players who are capable of producing one, substantial post every week as a minimum. I'm sorry to be forceful but too many games fold because people sign up and then crash out by not posting. games need input to keep moving. If you think the game is moving slow, check your own posting record. I'll try to keep pushing from the top but i can't do everything.

2) I'm expecting a FFOCB to be the first for a series of games with an option to expand after the first one. So even if you're not certain what to do this time, FFOCB will (i hope, be a very quick game taking just a few months to complete at least to a stage where we can recruit new players.

3) I'd like all characters to be believable. I'm not looking for the best warriors in the Inner Sphere, former Dragoons with clan training, perfect human beings. I want characters who are characters, flawed and believable. As a side note, if everyone comes in with ideas for assault 'Mech pilots I shall randomly assign 'Mech's to players.

4) I want interaction. I want players who don't mind running e-mail / MSN / Yahoo conversations with other players, or letting their characters being used by others and then putting in the time to read and edit those posts before they are made so that we actually have an interwoven story not just 10-15 independent stories running in parallel.

If you have questions you can drop me a PM here and i'll answer as best I can.

3033 will be the year.

The plot is a mission to DC space to look for a lost SL outpost with potential riches to all who come along. Equal shares to all, extra shares to the commander and the dropship.

There will be opposition of course ;)

I'd like to get in on this as well. do you characters to be generated via the Time of War RPG? Or do we just wing it and give you an idea of the character that we are going to use?

Wing it, this is cinematic role play, not hard dice rolling :)

As long as the character is believable I'll probably let it fly. IF you want to add suggested MW / BT stats for them that's fine but not necessary.

What type of force are you looking to build? Mechs plus infantry or a more generic force with some Mechs, Infantry, Vehicles and ASF.

Then welcome aboard both

We're now almost at the minimum 8 to run so things are looking positive for an off. If folks want to start   posting character ideas, have at it. I've had a rough possible concept from WT.

What're people making, character-wise? I'm thinking a local mechwarrior who saw limited action in the 4SW before returning home to help out on the family farm. Spends a lot of time and money trying to keep the family's Griffin from falling apart.

"Digger" is a local who's spent some time in the planetary militia, but works as an IndustrialMech operator. Owns his DigLord (the 65-ton version without tracks, not the MiningMech), which he is pretty fair with. Works excavations, demolition, and (when doing militia exercises annually for the extra C-bills) can do entrenchments and hasty fortifications. Knows a little demo on the side, still has ten fingers ;)

He's signed on with Molly Steele because his most recent relationship went bad, he's clashed with the local militia bosses often enough to resent it, and because the planet's "a boring hole in the ground, I tell you, mate. I mean, if the Good Lord decided to give the universe an enema, he'd stick the hose here."

He's aware that his DigLord isn't a "real" mech, and isn't stupid enough to take on a heavy or even medium head-to-head, but has enjoyed embarrassing the occasional cocky light 'Mech pilot who forgets about the DigLord's fluid guns, or terrorising infantry.

Not particularly neat, this changes when in the cockpit of his IndustrialMech, where he's focussed on what he's doing and likes doing things "my way - the right way" (guess why he keeps having relationship issues?). At some stage he aquired a bush hat from Alula Australis, and has taken to salting his speech with mock-Australianisms (such as have survived the centuries. Throw another pokemon on the barbie!)

Sounds like a good base.

You'll be signing on with Mutt Rabagliati, not Molly Steele, she only arrived on planet a few hours ago and is just being hired for transport.

The second recruitment scene is up along with the advert.

Jocasta Colburn is a retired AFFS Major having spent most of her career with the Brycleand DMM with time as cadre with the 1st Conroe Training Battalion. As the 4th SW ended with the Brycleland DMM seeing little or no action against the Combine she thought it best to retire at the age of 43. She retired to his adopted world of Fallon II where he had spent time in her early career as an observer with the DMM. Having recently divorced her husband of 15 years, she was able to retain her 'Mech and a small portion of his family inheritance, the rest stolen by her imprisoned. She mainly survives on her AFFS retirement check and her reserve status with the planetary militia. She pilots a PXH-1K Phoenix Hawk taken as salvaged by her great-great-great grandfather to replace the family's destroyed Warhammer more than a hundred years ago. Given her recent past she's been looking for an excuse to get off of Fallon II. With her ex-husband imprisoned and most of her money gone there is nothing to tie her to this dustball.

There is a chance (based on my last post) that your character and mine will have had some path crossing in the past.

No need really. Mutt's pre-game history is more a way of building up a desire to get off planet and back into a 'Mech (possibly)

The loss of the Rifleman is the start of the downward spiral of desperation.
