President's Trophy Curse time. Canes in six. And while we're at it, Oilers in five.

I'll pick the other two when they're final, but I think Boston is completing the collapse tonight.

The rules are quite clear that mines can be set at any desired depth.

IO:BF pg89: Sea-Based Minefields: Minefields may be deployed in
water hexes both on the bottom of the hex or suspended so
that they float at any depth level. For example, a conventional
minefield may be placed at Depth 3 in a Depth 5 water hex.
Only Elements attempting to move through the minefield at
the same depth as the mines need to check for detonation.
Any mine-type may be deployed in water (inferno mines
may only be deployed on the surface of the water). Weapondelivered mines always sink to the bottom of the water hex.

I wonder how fast the weapon-delivered mines will sink?  Will they go down slowly like depth charges, fast like Hedgehog rounds, or?

I am imagining a surface unit with a Mech Mortar or similar system firing rounds at individual hexes, and the warheads dropping through the water damaging any units in that hex.  Similar to how an artillery battery works, but underwater.

The Iron Cheetah is the closest thing to that that I'm aware of.  I'm pretty sure it had to do with this mech's getting included in Mechwarrior 4/the Sim Pods.

Very good sci-fi  show .  I like they were doing a lot things with their show on the Flatjack flying the around and using a Mechs.

We Already have the MSRP for the Star League Force Packs, $35 for the Star League Command Lance (4 minis), $40 for the Second Star League Assault Lance (5 minis), and $45 for the two Third Star League packs (6 minis each), which puts the packs at $5 more then the MSRP of the packs from the Mercenaries Kickstarter with the same number of minis.

For me 5 dollars per mini would be enough to price me out for fully painted lances. Maybe if it were exactly what I wanted I would be fine with it, but it would have to be perfect. The $5 increase for the lances that have one painted mini wouldn't bother me that much though, I would be a little pickier on the combination of mechs in the kit, but it would be fine.

Thats why I really think the catalyst would need to do a lot of market research if they went in this direction.

I'd like to know the story about how this 'mech got canonized.  I don't believe any other unit from a third party source has ever been canonized.

General BattleTech Discussion / Re: New to Alpha Strike.

I would really recommend the alpha strike box set if you're just starting out. The tokens and the cardstock terrain are great. It has a good selection of mechs at lower price point than buying 2 lances and star. It also has rules for missions and previews some of the special rules in the alpha strike commander's edition book.

As far as good mechs, that's a hard question to answer. The size of the game, missions, and the optional rules that are available can all change what's good. I would worry more about rule of cool first, because the number of variations that most mech's have makes it harder to choose a stinker. The master unit list is a great resource.

So very much this. It's becoming quite irritating to see folks talk about shipping quotes as of they're finalized and set in stone, when this couldn't be further from the truth.

Until Backer kit sends you an email, just wait. Is it really that hard?

For some people it can be hard to wait though. More so with something like a kickstarter where enough time passes that your situation may be a lot different than it was when you pledged. I do think it would be more productive for them to follow the directions in update 88 to contact them directly rather than posting here, because you do need to wait a few days for a response.

For me personally its within 13 bucks of what I expected to pay for my battalion pledge. I was estimating $40 to Michigan and its little over 50 (way better than the initial quote). Thats close enough for me without knowing all the shipping details to be fine with it. I would actually feel pretty good if not pushing for a lower rate made it more affordable for someone who has had a rough year.

A week before Amaris attempts to pull off his coup that Terra's HPGs pick up messages from General Kerensky from the Periphery. He claims he has made First Contact with an Alien polity that governs a sizeable portion of the Orion Arm. They overall appear to come in peace and will be sending an ambassadorial detachment to meet with the Star League Council for trade and a non-aggression pat and law enforcement cooperation.

To say Amaris is peeved would be an understatement.
