I'm hoping that the NFL brings the hammer down on Alonso with a multi-game suspension plus a six figure fine.

Early word this morning was that he's looking at one game (!!!), with Ndamukong Suh's actions during the game likely drawing a few games as well (thanks to his lovely track record on this stuff prior)

And with the NFL's track record in mind, a one-game suspension will become zero very quickly because of course it will.

Egads that Seattle game today.  I was certain Seattle was done for after Russel threw that interception and turned it off.  Boy was I wrong.

So, the Broncos are on a nationally televised game tonite. I expect them to get treated rather roughly by KC's defense as Lamarr Houston's name will be mentioned a lot. I don't expect a repeat of the Thursday night game, but it will be eerily similar.

I have no idea what to expect from Denver at this point. Will we get the team that laid down and died against Buffalo? The one that gave Oakland a tough evening? The one that didn't even show up against San Diego Los Angeles A Truck Stop South Of Reno Wherever The Hell They Play This Week? The team that ROFLstomped Dallas?

It seems like the Broncos themselves have no idea who they are week to week, so I can't fathom who they'll be tonight. If we get the Chiefs from the past couple of games, I feel okay about this. If we get the one from the first few weeks, it's over already and the actual game is a formality.

Meanwhile, Zach Miller of da Bears is in surgery that doctors are hoping will repair the artery in his leg that took damage yesterday against the Saints, and has him at risk of losing his leg:

Read that earlier. I hope that hose surgeons are the best that they can be today. This injury is likely the end of his career. Good luck to Miller

It's pretty. It's SO pretty. Also, my kingdom to fire Trevor Siemian into the sun for that game last night. You were in WHITE, throw to the guys who aren't wearing RED. ARGH. That was a must-win to get back into the division talk, and without that there's no wild-card possibility. Denver's season died on Oct. 30, and from here it's time to start giving Lynch and Osweiler more time to figure out if any of these bozos are a good option for next year. Then again, after the 49ers trade for Garoppalo yesterday, Denver might now be one of the teams that make the most sense for Kirk Cousins next year.

Ah well, Let's pick again and see what happens.

I feel a losing week coming on. A lot of my analysis was based on asking "who do i not trust the least?" The reality is no one in the NFL is trustworthy. Unless it's picking the browns to lose or taking the over on +/- 1.5 shovel passes to Travis Kelsey.

So Buffalo just picked up Kelvin Benjamin from the Panthers for two draft picks.  I doubt he's got enough time to learn the playbook to take the field on Thursday, but getting Taylor another decent receiver was a good step forward, I think.

He definitely won't know the playbook, but just telling him to run a four-step slant or something fairly basic like that at least gets him on the field. He's good enough that if you tell him the basics of what to do, his athleticism and ability to snag the ball should be enough to make him a factor. If nothing else, the shiny new toy syndrome will draw off the Jets defense a little more than otherwise.

I wouldn't use him on every down, but I'd at least put him out there on second down and see what happens.

Tangient re: trade deadline... LOLBrowns.

 :))

See, I saw the thing about the Bengals being the ones who screwed up- and that's possible. But... both teams have to send paperwork to the league office separately. It doesn't matter if the Bengals sent the wrong form, because the Browns would have had to submit their own forms as well. Had they done so and the Bengals sent the wrong one, the league office likely would have been lenient in allowing the Bengals to re-submit even after the deadline had officially passed.

So it sounds like, based on league rules, the mistake is still on the Browns. And McCarron can breathe a huge sigh of relief... and Keyser, after being benched and reinstated as starter a few times already, now knows that the team actively tried to replace him, shaking his confidence even further than it has been.

Again, LOLBrowns.

By Christmas they'll be calling Jeff George.

And then draft Darnold/Jackson/Rosen in the first round of the draft when they need receivers for the QBs they already have

I've read several comments along the lines of "This is peak Browns", but I expect they'll find a way to lose the 2018 #1 draft pick at this rate.

And Brock Osweiler is now the starter for the Denver Broncos. The Once and Future QB has returned.

Plus, the Browns are still paying all the leftover guaranteed money from the contract he signed when he left Denver for the Texans. ROFLMAO!

Quite the two-year stretch since Osweiler took over in Denver the first time... savior of the franchise, goat for losing a few games, benched for the Giant Forehead he was set to replace, watched the playoffs from the bench... saw two teams fight over who got to throw the most money at him, off to Houston with few kind words to say about Elway and the Broncos. A season of unquestioned failure and ineptitude followed, at which point after one year the Texans throw in the towel and pay Cleveland a second round pick to take this idiot and his salary... when the BROWNS can't find use for him (lulz), back to Denver (with Cleveland paying most of his salary, are you kidding?) to forget all the bad thing he said about Elway and...

...well, I'm sure things will be fine. He's got two weeks of gimme games against the Eagles and Patriots, so what could go wrong?

This reeks of failure already, and only knowing that Jimmy Haslam is the one paying Osweiler for it is making it palatable. What needs to happen is that Elway learns how to draft a QB. Pronto. Because this here? This sucks.

Maybe a little bit. Romo's life would havebeen in danger. Siemian's been sacked 25 times this season and hit as many times. I can only imagine Romo getting hit just as much and given his recent injury history, his football lif would have been in jeopardy. Romo would not be making the mistakes that Siemian has, but it would still be a bad season given the colander that Denver O-line is.

Yeah, even when it looked like Romo was coming to town, I was pretty sure that also meant he'd start eight games MAXIMUM over the course of the season. Whoever won the Siemian/Lynch battle was the backup who was going to get half a season of starting time, and both would benefit from having a longtime vet to learn from whether he was on the field or holding a clipboard. Win-win, really, until Jurr-ah screwed it all up.

Hard to be TOO upset, since it means Romo has been in the booth being absolutely amazing as a broadcaster (seriously, he's been great!), but I'll bet Elway is still gritting his horse-teeth over it.

Well I think that is kind of the thing.  It won't matter who the starter is until that o-line gets fixed up in a major way.

Heck it is to the point I'm not sure I'd wish being the starting QB for the Broncos on my worst enemy.

It seems that the Broncos have a hard time replacing great QBs.  After Elway retired (following the '98 season), it was 2005 before the Broncos (under Jake Plummer, their 8th post-Elway QB) won even one playoff game.  Then they didn't win another one until 2011, under Tim Tebow.  That's two playoff victories between the 1998 postseason and the AFC Championship in 2013.  Manning took them to two AFC Championships and a Super Bowl title in 4 years.  Since he retired...ok, small sample size, but I can't help but be reminded of the dark years AE (After Elway).

Just leaving this here because it made me laugh. It's actually kind of sad, but as the article notes their damage control efforts on this still mean they didn't follow what the league wants done, so... bravo?
