Hanseatic League - What faction should I use from the MUL?

So I've got my Scorpion Empire/Escorpio Imperio force, and seems like I should put together a Hanseatic League force for kicks.  What faction should I use from the MUL?  (I'm assuming I'll use Dark Age Era, but if someone has a better idea, let's throw it out there...)

Periphery General MUL add mechs WoB style Lightray , Nexus and others

I think Periphery General only covers the near Periphery nations, not deep Periphery like the Hansa. A better idea might be to take the Scorpion Empire MUL and subtract everything that's either Clan or very advanced Star League. (That last bit is gonna be a judgement call, admittedly.)

periphery general from the succession wars isn't a terrible base (minus anything clearly from the rimward periphery nations (MoC/TC/MH,etc). sprinkle in some stuff reasonably assumed to be acquired through trade like a little lyran gear. their manufacturing pre-blakist patronage isn't robust and even after doesn't improve by bounds.

Unfortunately it's not a faction in the MUL

There are published RATs in OTP: Hanseatic Crusade. RATs are official. Since there are none for the League in the MUL, you should look at the ones they do have in the OTP.

No I get that, but if 8m playing in an event where all of the units in a list have to come from a specific faction, I've got to pick a faction in the MUL that to rep them.

I wouldn't play in an event like that. That's not what BattleTech is about.

There's plenty of ways to play Battletech. If they want to do that, there's no reason they shouldn't.

The closest you'll get is the general Periphery list.  The Hanseatic Leauge hasn't been done yet. The RAT could also work as part of the list to draw upon if you can persuade the folks running the game to allow it. It's all Succession Wars and Clan Invasion era stuff other then the Surtur.

I wouldn't play in an event like that. That's not what BattleTech is about.

It is fun sometimes because it has people looking at things they might not have considered before . . . but IMO breaks down when people pick the Dracs, Hounds or Dragoons and run most of the force as Clan mechs because ye olde FMU RAT had the Dire Wolf, Timber Wolf, Stormcrow, and ? at the 12 position on the DCMS A RAT.  Sifting through the list with a 'pick a faction, build a Jihad era force' can present a challenge that has people mixing their forces on the table so you do not see the same thing constantly.

With that said, yeah I think the OP should suggest to the organizer that they accept the OTP RAT since they go into what the MUL turns out.

The Field Manual Periphery RAT is probably the most generous in giving the Hansa better tech to fight enemies, while the FML:Updates and OTP:Hanseatic Crusade give a more nuanced approach to the Hanseatic Defense Force.  One thing to note: The Hansa really love their Wolverines.

As someone who also had to do this:

Scorpion Empire MUL but do not use Clan Mechs.

I learned about the Hanseatic League first then the Scorpions. At least I can still use the Surtur!
